Mixed feelings. On  the one hand, they were never supposed to be in this game. And they took the Ravens to overtime.

On the other hand, you’re not supposed to lose on a punt return. Especially not after they had multiple chances to bring the returner down.

    Oh well.

In sum total, though, this game was a very good sign of progress.

We played hard, but the punt return for the TD, was an embarrassing way to lose. That sucked.

you shouldn’t lose on a walk off punt  return, but you can’t have delay of game penalty on your first possession in OT.

BTW Any holding calls against the Raven’s OL today.?

next week ..home game vs Commanders, Rams are in position of winning 4 of their last 5 games

Blatant block in the back missed by the officials on the punt return.  It’s the buzz of Rams Nation right now.

Oh well.  The Rams had their chances. Some odd game-clock issues at the end of the game and in overtime, but overall incredibly happy with how they played. Still, losing that game given the effort is a bitter pill.

went about as well as i could have expected.  the only thing missing was a win.

i just want to say about davis allen.  i have no idea how good he can be.  but i believe he’s got potential to be a solid contributor.  big hands  big target.  he’s not fast, but he is strong and he’s explosive – 38.5″ vertical and 10’5″ broad.  what a draft class 2023 could be.  won’t know for awhile but looks good already.

offensive line held up well against a great defense.  but they should and more importantly can add talent there in the offseason.

overall i’m as happy as i could be considering they lost.

It was good to see the Rams “live.” Loved most of it, except, of course, for the ending. The Rams weren’t supposed to be in this game at all, and it’s a big old sign of progress that they were.

Hoecht surprised me, and played well overall. Puka, my favorite Ram at the moment, missed a key catch, but made up for it soon after. Kyren Williams, who’s 1B to Puka’s 1A, keeps getting better. I think if the Rams upgrade the line a bit, especially at center and LT, he’s a future All-Pro.

Jackson is just unworldly. The Rams had him sacked, time after time, but he played Houdini. Reminds me of Tarkenton, but with the added ability to take it to the house if he breaks free (4.3 speed out of college). Tarkenton was a scrambler, not a runner, per se. Jackson does both/and.

Davis Allen looks like a solid starter at TE, and came up big, but missed a key catch at the end. He’s not the fastest TE in the world, but has a freakish catch radius, and plays hard. Gotta gain some weight/strength. But he’s got a future with the Rams.

Basically, the Rams have the makings of a real contender next year, if they draft well, and sign some key free agents. I get to see them next week and the following Thursday, so I’m still psyched, as the young kids used to say in the 19th century.

Couldn’t they call holding on Donald pretty much every single snap he’s on the field?

It’s kinda ridiculous. I’m guessing he just gave up ( from 2014 on) trying to remind the refs that it’s not legal lasso him every down.

Even if we win 4 of our last 5, their is no guaranteed, we make the playoffs. I feel we need to win 5 straight to get in. That also counts on the Packers and Vikings losing.

yeah.  i don’t know how good he actually will be or if he’ll even stick.  but i did like his profile when they drafted him.  he looked like a decent prospect.  i really do hope he can be at least a solid contributor.  pair him up with higbee on some 12 personnel.  and he’s only 22.  so he’s got plenty more development in him i would think.  we saw some of his explosiveness in this game.  there was a play when he hurdled a defender.  i think he even made a leaping catch at one point.  he could be a good red zone target.

they got so many skill position players at this point.  kupp, puka, atwell, robinson.  williams.  higbee.  and hopefully now allen.  just need to strengthen the oline.  i wanna see them draft a blue chip left tackle.

and also i wonder what happens with witherspoon.  do they attempt to re-sign him?  do they just draft another defensive back?  i’d tend towards drafting a defensive back.  or finding another bargain basement pickup.  they seem to be good at identifying talent there.

I started off just wanting  a dignified loss.

But after the first half, I wanted them to win.

I hate the way this finished, but…

the Rams proved today that they can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the league.

Legitimately. This team is real. And I can’t wait for next year.

This is a good football team.

    Agreed. To elaborate on that–

It’s the 2nd youngest team in the league.

Here’s what the Rams will have next year:

    * draft picks

    * cap space

    * more experienced players. The ones they keep will be seasoned by the experience and sobered by memories of the mistakes they made this season. That’s part of each player’s mental development, and part of the coaches knowing who they have and how to use them and what they need to work on.

yeah. it’s weird. that’s why i’m not that disappointed. in other years a loss like this would have crushed me.

With the possibility of us having $60 Million in cap space. I still say we should go after either AJ Espenesa Edge Bills or Chase Young Edge 49ers, and Patrick Queen ILB Ravens. Plus, Edge and ILB are real strong, plus those three teams will have major cap issues. We get that Edge and ILB in free agency, then we can keep building the OLine, and get another DT(320+), CB & Safety.

As I always say, you can never go wrong with drafting OL, especially at LT & C.

The usual shaky spots had a hand in this loss. The young secondary and special teams have had me watching some games through my fingers this year. A inconsistent pass rush isn’t doing the db’s any favours but we’re some costly blown coverages in this game. The special teams since Fassel left has reminded me of the special teams under Martz, minus Jeff Wilkins, so worse I guess. Hopefully, a lot of these problems are related to the youth and these experiences will result in some big wins in the future. On a positive note, Davis Allen looks like he might be a gem,  and Puka  and KyrenWilliams just keep on impressing. I sure appreciate meaningful football in December after my expectations in August. Shoutout to Demarcus Robison as well.

it should also be noted that the ravens were coming off a bye week.

Okay, so, Rams took Baltimore to overtime, which no one expected. Last week they beat the Browns, who at the time had the #1 defense but were starting Joe Flacco. This week the Browns, with Flacco at qb, beat the 8/4 Jaguars to make them 8/5. Lawrence started for Jacksonville.

Edits I would make were I able:

    I shouldn’t post when I am in a rush.

Hopefully the playoff committee takes that into consideration with their rankings this week.

The thing that stands out to me, was that game was on the Road.

Just an outstanding effort from a team that lost Ramsey, OBJ and Von Miller, etc.

Heartbreaking loss, but that is exactly the kinda of loss a team like this gives you.  A team heading in the right direction.

Very impressed with McVay and Raheem Morris.

Kyren Williams adds another 114 tough yards.  What. A. Find.    Oline has to love that kid.

Lamar Jackson – 70 yards running.  316 passing.   Lord.

Could be the Ravens year.   Ravens vs 49ers?    Looks like Chiefs, Ravens, Dolphins, Cowboys, Eagles, 49ers all have a shot.

Dont really like any of them teams.   Lions in the NFC and Browns in the AFC iz what I’m pullin for.

Well, most Rams fans are hoping the RAMS are in the Super Bowl, but you do you.

If there’s one thing this season has taught us fans, it’s that the Rams —>*suck*<— at tanking.

They have absolutely no idea how to do it.

None whatsoever. Not a single clue. Nothing.

the other thing that should be stated is the rams were +1 in turnovers. stafford could have easily thrown at least one interception. i can’t remember if that drive directly led to a rams’ score. so the rams did get a little lucky. still an impressive game against a very good team.
