Rams exhibition telecasts won’t be blacked out locally

The Rams take the field tonight for their first practice game of the summer as they entertain the New Orleans Saints, and the NFL’s normal television blackout rules don’t apply in the preseason. So the telecast will be shown locally, even though there still are a lot of tickets remaining.

KTVI (Channel 2) is showing all four Rams practice games this summer, with Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network again handling the play-by-play. He’ll work with former Rams standouts Marshall Faulk and Torry Holt, who will be the analysts. KTVI sports director Martin Kilcoyne and Casey Phillips of stlouisrams.com are the sidelines reporters.

NFL Network also will nationally televise tonight’s game, as well as the Rams’ exhibition contest on Aug. 16 at Green Bay. But those telecasts won’t be shown in the St. Louis market in favor of KTVI’s feed.

Meanwhile, each of the Rams exhibition games is to be re-aired on the Sunday after each is played, appearing on KTVI sister station KPLR (Channel 11) at 2 p.m each week.

On radio, Steve Savard (play-by-play) and D’Marco Farr (analysis) are back, but sidelines reporter Tony Softli has been replaced by Will Witherspoon. WXOS (101.1 FM) remains as the flagship station of the team’s network.
