Well it’s nice that they can win a couple of games with 3 TOs.
But now that we know that, point is taken and don’t turn the ball over like that anymore. 😬
A great last minute win with some great plays–great Kupp plays, a brilliant brilliant catch by OBJ on 4th down (one of the best catches I have ever seen a Rams receiver make).
So now beat SF. Goddammit.
January 2, 2022 at 4:03 pm #135125joemadParticipantFucking Matthew Stafford….
back-to-back clutch 4th qtrs on the road.
That’s 5 in a row…
I want to rewatch this game again right now….
January 2, 2022 at 4:03 pm #135126JackPMillerParticipantMatt Stafford needs to stop turning the ball over. Please Matt, stop throwing picks sixes. It’s not a good thing.
Besides that, we do need to improve our run defense.

Looked like a tough, hardnosed game against a well-coached home-team
desperate for a win.Looked like Stafford was off again. On again. Again.
Throwin behind people. But still threatening the whole field and stuff.12 Wins after sixteen games. I dunno. I dunno what to think of
this team.w
vJanuary 2, 2022 at 5:34 pm #135144HramParticipantTough game, physical.
IMO, pick six was not a horrible throw. Right defensive call against out call and a great defensive play.
Having said that, Stafford threw behind his receivers too many times in the first half and the second interception was completely on the QB.
The fumble was also a non optimal call in that some type of play action, distance was short, is likely a higher percentage play. Although he was hit quickly, Stafford has to hold onto the ball when tackled.
Fourth quarter Stafford was on. OBJ, great plays.
Our big name players made plays at the end.
I wonder at the DB confrontation. All is not well in the Rams back end.
Gritty win over a physical team at home getting healthy and fighting for the playoffs.
January 2, 2022 at 6:04 pm #135148wvParticipantRecords will be set next week all around the NFL, I assume,
in the 17th game.I dont wanna hear about it.

I do not want that last 49er game to be meaningless
for the rams. They need to ‘earn this.’Its about F’ing time McVay beat Shannahan, aint it?

Good looking but lots of misfires.

i’m hoping he can get this thing turned around a little bit. i think it’s possible, but i’m worried to be honest.
defense is getting better.
michel has been huge.
if stafford can get on a little bit of a hot streak then this team could be something else in the playoffs.
January 3, 2022 at 1:32 am #135176ZooeyModeratorI don’t know why Stafford thinks throwing deep into triple coverage is a thing.
It isn’t.
I wanted the Rams to dominate this game, but I’m not disappointed. Instead, I find myself strangely pleased, and I don’t understand that.
But… instead of mowing over a collapsing team, reeling behind a backup QB, the Rams seem to have overcome a lot of adversity, spirited and skillful play, in a very boisterous Baltimore stadium, far from home, surviving yet another -2 in TOs. Behind a clutch, game-winning 4th quarter comeback drive.
Just think what this team could do if it was +2 in TOs.
January 3, 2022 at 8:14 am #135180canadaramParticipantI like how the defense responds to adversity. Even if Lamar Jackson wasn’t playing they made key plays when they needed to. They’re a scrappy bunch, but the pass defense seems vulnerable between the 20s. I’m not sure if the stats back me up on that, or it’s just my angst talking.
Fuller’s INT at the end of the first half was big, but it probably doesn’t happen if McVay kept the timeouts in his pocket and let the clock run out.
I’m glad that Akers didn’t play. If he dresses this week I hope that he doesn’t see the field. I’d rather the Rams rest him for as long as possible.
My fears that the Niners game would be meaningful have come to fruition. Stafford’s turnover problems have not gone away. Not an ideal scenario given that the Rams are playing important football in January.

I was in disbelief at McVay’s actions at the end of the 1st half. I was surprised he didn’t go for it on 4th down, but then thought he was just going to run out the clock, and regroup at halftime. Then he started calling the TOs, and I was incredulous. Why get aggressive AFTER punting? But it looks brilliant in retrospect. It put the pressure on Baltimore, and they made a mistake that the Rams capitalized on. I don’t remember ever seeing anything like it before.
I expect Akers to get a carry or two against SF just to get reacquainted with live action, if he’s actually ready. This is an historically rapid return from that injury, so I’m still waiting to see it to believe it. If he can come back and offer some relief to Michel that will be big. I just have a hard time seeing him getting up to game speed, and picking up the blocks, and all the mental part of the game, even if he’s physically able.

My exact reaction as well. With their cannon-legged kicker, I thought for sure the Ravens would at least get a field goal out of it.
I think Michel was in for all but one or two snaps yesterday. He definitely could use some relief. I guess he wasn’t used as much earlier in the season, so hopefully he doesn’t run out of gas come playoff time.

My Game Day Experience: Rams vs. Ravens
I have been a Ram fan for over 40 years and always manage to make it to their games in Baltimore, only missing the 1996 OT loss to Vinny Testaverde to Michael Jackson in the back of the end zone in OT, 37-31. I was also there for the 22-3 drubbing in 2007 (I told my father in law before that game, “But RB Brian Leonard had 102 yards last week…” Rams dropped to 0-7. Good times. Then, Jeff Fisher’s snatching defeat from the jaws of victory against the Raven in 2015, 16-13. Ahhh…bliss…
Anyways, we left early (three hours before kickoff) and arrived at our parking pass area around 11am. I could not believe how many Rams fans were there. I saw probably 50 Aaron Donald jerseys. I even saw a color rush Greg Zuerlien (!) #4, some Goffs, Kupps (#10 and #18) and even saw Odell Beckham Jr’s parents come in through general admission. She was wearing a Mama Bear #3 Rams jersey with matching blue and yellow Nikes and OBJ Sr. had on a LSU OBJ, Jr. jersey. We could not catch up to them to chat. His orchestrating his son out of CLE was not exactly classy, but boy, he has breathed life into his sons career good or bad.
We grabbed some food and immediately proceeded to the field for warm ups. OBJ was all over the place catching passes, fielding punts, he really seemed happy. Cooper Kupp is big; much bigger than you would think. He is all business. Ben Skowronek is also a really big dude. Leonard Floyd came out alone, did some drills and that dude is BIG. Looks like a power forward. Big Whit came out by himself and walked around the perimeter of the field the whole way waving hi to the Rams fans. Johnny Hekker was punting and I can tell you he still has a leg. He kicked a couple 60 yarders with no trouble. He must be being coached to cover punt coverage deficiencies. John Wolford through a lot of passing drills, Matthew Stafford came out later; barely threw. AD99 and Ramsey came out late, AD was all business, Greg Gaines was also out a lot by himself. Ramsey seemed stoked. Jake Funk went to the University of Maryland and had a good time chatting with some UM fans who had a poster he posed in some cell shots. Couple guys gave their gloves to fans (Kupp, Von Miller came out and signed a few autographs). The Rams looked confident.
I won’t go over the game too much; most of you watched it and it is better on television as replays are huge and I will watch it later today. I did not even see the Rapp/Ramsey scuffle until halftime on my phone. I did notice Rapp and Ramsey were on opposite sides of the bench the whole second half with no interaction. Stafford kinda keeps to himself. He is not a rah rah guy. The Rams seemed into it, even though our seats were on the other side of the stadium from their bench.
I can tell you the fans were not into until the fourth quarter and it was LOUD. LOUD. I did not realize Stafford was 14/14/162/2TD in the second half. That is the difference between him and JG16. Goff would not recover from some boneheaded throws and a fumble. It looked like OBJ ran the wrong pattern on the pick six and the safety Chuck Clark broke off right away as he read Stafford’s eyes. I did not even see the finish of the return as I sunk into my seat with my son also putting his heads in his hands as the crowd went NUTS. The fans around us were nice, the guy behind me flew to this game FROM LA and his son was a huge Ravens fan with a Justin Tucker jersey and he was a die hard Rams fan.
I thought the defense did a good job except for the quick passes which are hard to defend (why Ravens OC Greg Roman went away from that is a mystery) and I did not think they held contain well on a few runs and on Huntley’s scrambles. That stop to keep it 19-14 was huge. The crowd was nervous as they knew it was a one possession game. The Rams D held their own and only gave up four field goals. I cannot complain about the D; they made the stops and were resilient. The Rams offense finally got their footing and it looked like in the final drive McVay decided deep throws over the middle was going to get them a TD. Stafford threw three darts to Tyler Higbee, Ben Skowronek and Kupp. DARTS. I did tell the fans around us that Stafford is scary deep in his own end (cue the pick six a few plays later) and how I hate the empty set (cue the fumble). That crowd was loud.
When they were getting the kickoff down 19-14, I turned to my son and the Ram guy from LA and said, “Stafford can make up for his mistakes right now.” My 14 year old could not believe how loud it was on that final drive and we were very close to the end zone where OBJ made that incredible fourth down catch and the TD. I have never heard a crowd go so quiet in person. It was amazing.
Our legs were still shaking when the Ravens had the rock with the best kicker ever, but the sack by Miller was HUGE and you knew it was over then. I don’t know how I did not have a heart attack, but a gutsy win (please read Peter King’s MMQB” piece today, a great feature on the Rams win).
It was an amazing day and I was so tired, I did not make to halftime of the GB-MIN game. What a day; Rams first win in Baltimore against the Ravens.

Ravens
Tough draw for us in our extra game, but luckily they were without Lamar. Ugly wins are still wins. And having to come back on the road is a solid test.
The Great
1) New #1 in Cooper Kupp. 15 games with 90+ yards and he beat Bruce in 16 games.
2) Sony Michel running the ball. Gotta resign him, good thing RBs are cheap. Given the draft class and other pending FAs he should be about 3-4 million per … maybe less. I like that he doesn’t have much tread on his tires after being basically shelved in NE.
3) Beckham on 4th down.
4) Being -2 in turnover margin and winning.
The Good
5) I thought Van Jefferson was the most consistent he’s been.
6) Gaines playing through pain.
7) Donald has how many TFLs this year?
8) Von Miller popping up more.
9) Darious Williams PBU factory is back open.
10) Higbee being a potent weapon.
11) O line back healthy.
12) Both Passing TDs, Stafford and WRs.
The Bad
13) Hey Ramsey and Rapp, you’re on TV. That’s embarrassing.
14) The Deep INT.
15) Overall pass blocking.
16) Michel’s dropsies.
17) How many times we went empty set. Like … I get it on 3rd and 10.
18) Getting away form the run when we’re rattling off 6 yards a clip. I get that it might be intentional to hide certain formations and plays we’re saving for the playoffs … but if it’s not that it’s simply not the right call.
The Ugly
19) Stafford’s pick 6 … again. FOUR this year.
