CHRIS MORGAN, ATLANTA FALCONS
OFFENSIVE LINE COACHBIOGRAPHY
Chris Morgan is entering his second season as the Falcons offensive line coach. During his first year, his offensive line helped produce the Falcons first 1,000 yard rusher since 2011, while giving up the eighth fewest sacks in the league last year. The offensive line also helped block for an offense that recorded 374.1 yards per game, which was seventh in the NFL.
Morgan spent the 2014 season as assistant offensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks. In 2014, Seattle used eight different starting combinations on the offensive line, including playoffs, and still led the NFL in rushing yards, recording a franchise-high 2,762 yards. In addition to leading the League in rushing last season, the Seahawks offensive line also asssisted in helping Seattle lead the NFL in explosive plays (135) and explosive running plays (61) while paving the way to Super Bowl XLIX.
Prior to arriving in Seattle, Morgan served as an assistant offensive line coach with the Washington Redskins (2011-13) and Oakland Raiders (2009-10). In 2012, Morgan helped direct a unit that rushed for a team-record 2,709 yards, marking the franchise’s first team rushing crown since 1933 and their clubs first NFC East title since 1999.
In 2010, Oakland ranked 10th in the NFL in yards per game (356.6) and sixth in points per game (25.6). Prior to Oakland, Morgan spent the previous five seasons coaching at the high school level in his native Texas, serving as offensive line coach, special teams coordinator, offensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Westfield High School in Houston.
Morgan served as a graduate assistant and offensive line coach at the University of Idaho after two years as an assistant coach at Copperas Cove (Texas) High. He played offensive line at the University of Colorado from 1995-1999 and earned his master’s degree in educational leadership at Idaho.
Well, he’s all WCO.
He was in Washington from 2011-13 under Mike Shanahan and with Kyle Shanahan as the OC and McVay as the TE coach.
He was in Oakland in 2010, under Tom Cable and with John Fassel.
So he has the McVay/Shanahan family tree thing.

yeah it seems like a logical fit. versed in the wco along with the zone blocking system.
he’s young and will give valuable input into the running game.
problem is will falcons let him go. and even if falcons were to let him go, would he want to join shanahan in san francisco should shanny take that job.

Report: Rams want to interview Falcons’ QB coach for offensive coordinator job
The Rams will seek permission to interview Falcons quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur for their offensive coordinator position, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday.
With Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan expected to be named head coach of the 49ers in the coming days, LaFleur could end up choosing between a promotion with the Falcons and going to the Rams, where he would work under new head coach Sean McVay.
McVay, Shanahan and LaFleur worked together with the Redskins. LaFleur is in his second season with the Falcons after spending 2014 as quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame. His first NFL job was in 2008 with the Texans.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport tweeted that if LaFleur ends up with the Rams, former Eagles and 49ers head coach Chip Kelly “has a real chance” at becoming the offensive coordinator in Atlanta. Schefter’s report said Atlanta “has expressed interest” in Kelly.

McVay overlapped with LaFleur in Washington from 2011-13 when McV was the TE coach.
Houston Texans (2008–2009): Offensive quality control coach (under Kubiak)
Washington Redskins (2010–2013): Quarterbacks coach (under Shanahan sr.)…(qbs in that span include McNabb, Grossman, Beck, Griffin3, & Cousins)
Notre Dame (2014): Quarterbacks coach
Atlanta Falcons (2015–present): Quarterbacks coachfrom the wiki:
Coaching career
LaFleur’s coaching career began at his alma mater, Saginaw Valley State, in 2003 where he served as an offensive graduate assistant. During which time Matt also substitute taught in the local highschools, specializing in math. He proceeded to Central Michigan University where, from 2004–2005, he assisted the offensive staff. In 2006, he coached quarterbacks and receivers at Northern Michigan University. 2007 was his last year at the collegiate level; he was the offensive coordinator at Ashland University.
LaFleur then was hired in 2008 by the Houston Texans to serve as an offensive assistant. He assisted both wide receivers and quarterbacks during his two year stint there and developed a close relationship with coordinator Kyle Shanahan. When Shanahan’s father Mike was hired by the Redskins, Kyle brought LaFleur to Washington to coach the quarterbacks. A primary responsibility of LaFleur’s for the 2012 season was to mentor rookie quarterbacks Robert Griffin III and Kirk Cousins, whom LaFleur was particularly fond of.
On February 5, 2015, LaFleur was hired to be the Quarterbacks coach for the Atlanta Falcons working under offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan whom he previously had worked under when with the Washington Redskins. Matt’s brother, Mike, is an offensive assistant with the Falcons as well.
February 5, 2017 at 1:07 pm #64929InvaderRamModeratormmmm. i figured it was either lafleur or morgan.
personally i prefer morgan. but this hiring means directing as many resources as possible to developing the crap out of goff.
he’s the belle of the ball.

February 5, 2017 at 1:15 pm #64931InvaderRamModeratoralso my guess is if this hiring happens.
lafleur would essentially be the passing game coordinator, kromer the running game coordinator, and mcvay the hc/oc/playcaller.
