Rams place Robert Quinn, Benny Cunningham on injured reserve
The Rams listed defensive end Robert Quinn as doubtful to play against the Seahawks on Thursday night, which left him with only a slight chance of playing in the game.
That chance was sliced down to zero on Thursday afternoon when the team placed Quinn on injured reserve. Quinn has missed the last two games with a concussion and the team has decided to play out the string without waiting to see if he’ll be able to return to action.
Quinn missed two other games with injuries earlier in the season and ends the year with four sacks in nine appearances. That makes it two years in a row that Quinn has missed a healthy chunk of the season — he played eight games in 2015 — and the issues staying healthy have stopped him from being the threat off the edge that he was when the Rams signed him to a four-year extension early in the 2014 season.
Quinn’s set to make over $6.1 million in salary next year with a $3.6 million roster bonus that became guaranteed last year. His total cap number is slated to be $10.75 million.
The Rams also placed running back Benny Cunningham on injured reserve. He was already ruled out for Thursday night’s game due to a neck injury.
