After another wild week of moves, we delve into the latest edition of our Rams Twitter Mailbag. Adding Brandin Cooks and cutting Kayvon Webster were the biggest transactions of the week, altering the receiver depth and secondary.

Without further ado, let’s get to your questions:

Do you think the Rams will end up trading Tavon Austin? Shed his salary and make a move for a linebacker?

    1:04 PM – Apr 6, 2018

I don’t see the Rams trading Austin. He’s already received $5 million for 2018 with the remainder of his $8 million contract coming in the form of incentives. Essentially, the Rams would be paying him $5 million to play for someone else rather than taking a $3 million chance on him to have a good season.

If they wanted to move on from him, they would have done it earlier. His reworked contract makes it unlikely that he’s playing elsewhere in 2018, unless they get blown away by a trade offer.

you see the rams winning the whole thing this year

I could definitely see the Rams winning it all in 2018. Besides the Eagles, who are anxiously awaiting Carson Wentz’s return, they’re definitely the favorites in the NFC. The AFC, as you probably know, is extremely weak, so if they can get through their own conference, their Super Bowl opponent shouldn’t pose any greater threat than they would have already faced.

Vegas gives them the third-best odds to hoist the Lombardi Trophy next season, trailing only the Patriots and Eagles, while being tied with the Vikings.

What are the Rams going to do at LB. What’s the depth chart looking like at WR

After trading away their first-round pick and hearing Les Snead say the Rams are done in free agency, it’s hard to imagine them making a big move at linebacker. Expect them to spend a third- or fourth-round pick on either an inside or outside linebacker – or both – to compete at each spot.

As it stands right now, the starters would be Cory Littleton or Ramik Wilson next to Mark Barron, as well as Samson Ebukam and Matt Longacre outside.

With regards to their wide receiver depth, I’d guess it looks like this:

    X: Brandin Cooks

    Slot: Cooper Kupp

    Z: Robert Woods

    WR4: Josh Reynolds

    WR5: Mike Thomas

Beyond that, there will be a lot of movement, likely involving Tavon Austin.

if we get compensation picks for Trumaine & Sammy? when would we recieve them?

The Rams will absolutely get compensatory picks for Trumaine Johnson and Sammy Watkins. Those are expected to be third-rounders, which lessens the loss of both players. Those picks will come in 2019.

Do you see the rams taking a flyer on one of these veteran FA’s like Bowman, Galette, or Freeman?

Had you asked this a week ago, I would’ve said absolutely. Now, not so much. Both NaVorro Bowman and Junior Galette would’ve been nice veteran additions and freed up the Rams a bit in the draft, but Snead essentially said they won’t be spending any more money in free agency to preserve their compensatory picks. Not to mention, they don’t exactly have anything to spend after signing Ndamukong Suh and landing Brandin Cooks.

Now that Kayvon Webster was released due to the recent moves – what are the odds another team signs him since he’s coming off an injury. And what are the odds Rams can re-sign him perhaps mid-season?

    2:23 PM – Apr 6, 2018

It’ll probably be a little while before anyone takes a chance on Kayvon Webster, given the significant injury he’s coming off of, but the Rams could definitely be one of them. If an injury were to occur in camp, or if depth just isn’t as strong as they believed it’d be, they’d be wise to check back with Webster. Whether he’d want to return to a team that just released him remains to be seen, but the Rams would reportedly be interest in a reunion at some point.
