Getting the thread in early this week so we can talk about how much we all hate the 49ers. I HATE HATE HATE the 49ers. This is niners week, hope the boys in (throwback) blue and gold are fired up. Division Games are always tough, and the niners have some pieces still. I think we can hold them down (and hopefully step on their throat). I’m going…

49ers 3October 26, 2015 at 6:29 pm #33008rflParticipantI predict that SF will be a much tougher team to beat than CLE was.
I don’t really see us doing it. Very low score, but our D will make a couple of human-style mistakes. SF’s defense won’t have to. We’ll lose, 17-10.
By virtue of the absurd ...

but it’s divisional game so will be tough.
October 27, 2015 at 1:37 am #33047PA RamParticipantIt’s a divisional game so it will be a war.
9ers coming off of ten days rest.
Rams offense coming off three quarters rest.
Could go either way–both ways–any way. But I believe the Rams will win the game. I HOPE they can do it with a mediocre offense and not the dismal offense that usually shows up for games. I do not want to see this offense lose the game through turnovers. If they aren’t going to score than just take a knee every snap and punt. Let the defense deal with it. But it would be NICE if they scored.
Hopefully Gurley doesn’t have to be All-World this week. That is going to get tiring pretty quick.
Don’t have a strong feeling of a win or loss here–just going on hope.

The Rams rise to division games. That is their identity this year as much as anything else. The fact that this is a division game bolsters my confidence. I will be very surprised if the Rams come out flat. I see no reason why a focused Ram team wouldn’t be expected to defeat a focused Niner team.
October 27, 2015 at 1:54 am #33049MaddyParticipantAlso, I love that Gurley’s presence now sets up play-action almost before the game starts, before any running game is actually established.
October 27, 2015 at 3:12 am #33057znModeratorSF is
31st in total defense (yards)
22nd in points allowed
20th in rushing defense
32nd in passing defense
18th in sacks
32nd in total offense (yards)
32nd in points for
31st in passing
18th in rushing
31st in sack percentage (offense) with an absurd 11%

49ers have lost a ton of former-ram-killers on defense.

Because they so thoroughly destroy the Rams that they realize they could have won the game wearing just their street clothes and Thom McCans?
October 27, 2015 at 3:36 pm #33076AgamemnonParticipantOctober 28, 2015 at 10:54 pm #33157InvaderRamModeratorif i’m the rams, i actually think i try and pass the ball more this game. catch the 9ers off guard. get gurley involved more in the passing game. get some play action going.
this niners defense ranks last in pass defense. and i’m thinking this niners defense is going to go after todd in the running game. teams have three full games of tape to study this gurley led offense. i’m thinking the rams can catch them being overly aggressive defending todd. give foles and the receivers some confidence.
and hopefully kendricks is back.

well ya don’t see that every day, the rams as 8.5 favorites, which is the 11th largest point spread of the 212 games played so far in 2015…. the last time the rams were bigger favorites was in 2013, when they took on the hapless 0-4 jags at the ed, a jags team that would eventually finish the season with a 4-12 record that included a 32nd ranking in offensive scoring and a 30th ranking in offensive points allowed – the rams won and covered.
in the 10 games in which a team was favored by more points than the rams’ 8.5 so far this season – the favored team won 8 of the 10 games, while only 3 covered the spread.
the SF defense ranks 21st in offensive points allowed, gave up 43, 31 and 30 points to 3 different opponents so far this season… they did have a good game against the pack, but they’ve given up more than the league average in 4 of the 7 games they’ve played… anyway, division game, anything can happen….
November 1, 2015 at 6:46 am #33271nittany ramModeratorThis game actually worries me…the Rams being huge favorites at home over a reeling and decimated rival…
It reminds me of those movies where the hero is rescuing a hostage and when he arrives at the location where the hostage is being held he finds the door unlocked and no bad guys so he immediately suspects a trap….”I don’t like this. This is too easy…”
November 1, 2015 at 8:08 am #33275AgamemnonParticipantNovember 1, 2015 at 8:34 am #33278PA RamParticipantThis is a MUST win game if the Rams have any hope for the playoffs.
The Panthers or Falcons will grab one of the wild card spots–the other wins their division.
That leaves one wild card or the division for the Rams to win.
If the Rams stumble here–in a game they SHOULD win–they’re done. If they DO win they set up a critical game against the Vikes. These are the games where seasons are made or lost.
So we’ll see.

vNovember 1, 2015 at 9:10 am #33284DakParticipantThe Rams need to sack Kap about 5 or 6 times, because they should be all over him in this game. If Kap isn’t getting chased around, then something will be amiss, and I can see the 9ers coming out of here with a win.
Gurley could pile up 200 combined yards in this game. I could definitely see some passes his way, and some big runs of course. If Gurley isn’t big in this game, something is amiss, and I can see the 9ers winning.
This 9ers team is not scary. The only way they become scary is if the Rams don’t do the things they’ve been doing the past few weeks.

My own feeling is, this is not a playoff year. Playoffs would be gravy. This is like a winning season version of 98, IF they had signed Green in 98. But still not 99.
I think that because the offense has yet to be in sync at least 7 quarters in a row.
I guess I look at 2015 as the 2016 pre-season. I think they will have a winning record but if they don’t make the playoffs it wouldn’t stress me none.
It’s interesting how expectations escalate though.
.Unless they have a winning season Rams are bums.If they blow their chance at the playoffs Rams are bums. It’s make the superbowl or Rams are bums.Rams need a superbowl win or they are bums. How come only one superbowl win, the Patz have 9.
November 1, 2015 at 10:07 am #33289nittany ramModeratorI’m not really focused on the playoffs either but I do want them to win every game they SHOULD win – this being one of those games (the others being the Washington and Pittsburgh games as determined through overwhelming and unrefutable consensus).
And since this team has yet to demonstrate the ability to consistently throttle their inferiors, I worry.
November 1, 2015 at 10:08 am #33290ZooeyModeratorI never said “Playoffs or bums” myself. I have said they should be in the playoff hunt in December or they’re bums. Or something along those lines. I think it’s time they played with the post-season on the line.
And it seems to me that they oughta win today, next week over the Vikes, and the Bears after that. They Oughta.

That’s just me playfully running around with a premise. The danger of that is coming across as a judge of others’s expectations, though the truth is, I wasn’t aiming at anything more heavy than a nice chuckle. Either way, let a thousand flowers bloom.
A loss today would be disappointing. And I think they have a winning streak in them. But, my own hesitation is, with a junior varsity OL, it’s hard to be consistent.

Todd Gurley will get 25 rushes for 198 yards and 2 TD. Nick Foles stat line will be something like 16-23; 276 yards; 1 TD; 1 INT

No, I know you were using Silly Putty to sculpt those perspectives. I didn’t see your post as a serious attempt at the Evolution of Rams’ Fans Perspectives in the 21st Century.
Anyway. We all know the Rams are capable of losing to an inferior team.
And we all hope they don’t. And we all would welcome a win streak that a better-than-average team should put together.
