It’s remarkable. One of the ten richest men in the world will probably spend $1 billion on his own campaign before the baseball season even starts and the main threat to democracy is Bernie Sanders supporters being mean onlineFebruary 25, 2020 at 1:34 pm #111621znModeratorImagine Bernie Sanders after two straight fourth-place finishes in two very different states, a distant fourth in the popular vote, and polling at 12% nationally (under 10% with black voters).
Could he snap his fingers and make $5M in SuperPAC money appear? And if not, why not? https://t.co/8I1CfjNd4V

February 25, 2020 at 9:38 pm #111643znModeratorDear @MikeBloomberg,
While you were mayor, this teenage boy, Kalief Browder, was arrested and spent 3 grueling years in Rikers without ever being convicted of a crime.
He was regularly beaten while there. Put in solitary.
Then took his own life.
So FUCK your flippant apology. pic.twitter.com/414UVW2pgf

vFebruary 26, 2020 at 9:54 am #111650Billy_TParticipantIt’s another example of how our media help the Republicans, consciously or unconsciously:
They (Republicans) get to trash America every which way, but somehow retain ownership of the flag, Mom and Apple Pie. Trump won largely by painting a picture of America as a hellhole, eternally victimized, weak, beset from all sides by far more powerful forces only he could stop.
For decades, Republican preachers have been saying their god just punished Americans for their sins, whenever some catastrophe hits us.
But let a left of center figure denounce our actual “sins,” our history of racism, genocide, slavery, our oppression of migrants, our endless wars and coups, etc. etc. . . . and they get slammed for being “anti-American,” or worse.
And, to make this asymmetry even more absurd: Republicans are virtually non-stop lying in their critique, or flat out hysterical. The leftist critique is slam dunk truth.
Only in America.

Fugelsang (FEW-gull-sang) was born on Long Island, New York. Of Danish, German, and Irish descent,[3] he is the son of a former nun and former Franciscan Brother.[4]
February 26, 2020 at 8:03 pm #111668znModeratorLocal 5 looked into the lack of tickets available to voters for the South Carolina #DemDebate. What they found was that tickets went for as much as $3,200 and average voters were not given a chance to get tickets.
This is why Bernie Sanders gets booed each time he talks. pic.twitter.com/s4XKZxzfr2

I responded to WV’s Van Gogh thread, to no avail. I think the spam blocker got me for adding links to his letters and museum.
Um, just in case: That would be Van Gogh’s letters and museum. WV probably has those as well, but I didn’t ask Alexa about them yet.

I understand disaffected voters because I once was one.
As a waitress, Iād watch pundits on TV talk about how we didnāt need to improve the ACA much when almost no one I knew could afford insurance. Or theyād talk about how great the economy was when everyone I knew struggled.
And while folks on TV went on about how we donāt need substantive change in America because things āarenāt that bad,ā I couldnāt help but feel lied to.
Mountains of student debt.
Friends working multiple jobs just to afford rent.
Not one person I worked with had insurance. There will always be people who make the case against transformative change.
But today our generationās prospects are worse off than our parentsā. Today people are dying bc they canāt afford insulin. Today the for-profit caging of people is normal.
I, for one, choose change.
March 3, 2020 at 9:12 am #111871nittany ramModeratorRegardless if you believe Bernie is anti-science, associating himself with Williamson is a major blunder, IMO. This is disappointing.
As I've been saying all along –
Bernie Sanders and Marianne Williamson are both whackadoodles with anti-science views.
Bernie pretends to be pro-science, but his anti-biotech views say otherwise. https://t.co/3PXCG8hVVx— FAC is BOTH HOPEFUL/SKEPTICAL OF 2020 (@facisback) March 3, 2020

Oh, i disagree totally. I think that would be like distancing himself from Rogan just because Rogan has some batshit crazy ideas.
Too much purism can really whittle down yer allies to zero.
I want her new-age voting bloc.
Williamson is a LOT of things. Some of them Good. Shes not ‘just-and-only’ an anti-vaxer. I think its a mistake to ‘reduce’ her to only that. All in all, I think she’s a more positive force than, say, 95 percent of Congress.

vWell, I hope youāre right, but I donāt think thereās enough thatās good about her to outweigh whatās bad about her. Ultimately outside of perhaps CA, I think her support will do more harm than good. But maybe she can get those crazy rich white women to stop writing checks to Goop and start writing them to Bernie.
