April 29, 2022 at 11:32 pm #138539znModeratorLogan Bruss, OG, Wisconsin6′ 5″ 309 lbs, arms: 33 1/8″..Overview.Guard prospect with tackle flexibility who appears to be well-equipped for the NFL game. Bruss is well-proportioned with athletic feet and good core strength. He takes efficient angles to the block in Wisconsin’s zone-heavy running scheme but has the body control, leverage and play strength to operate in any running scheme. Leaning and oversetting are occasional problems, and he needs to improve his hand work in order to keep from getting behind in the early stages of pass protection. Bruss is well-rounded with an athletic profile and should become a good starter early in his career..Strengths
- Three-year starter with enormous hands.
- Bent knees and ready hands in his pass sets.
- Works at staying square in his slides for as long as possible.
- Recognizes quarterback’s drop point and sets depth accordingly.
- Athletic in adjusting slide to match the pace of the rusher.
- Uses redirect power and sliding feet to protect his edges.
- Fits run blocks with good momentum from settle steps.
- Centers up contact with a wide strike zone and good lift.
- Unencumbered for work-up blocks and stretch plays.
- Above-average finding his landmarks as zone blocker.
.Weaknesses.- Ends up second in race to land punch first.
- Needs to play with less predictable, more explosive hands.
- Too much weight drifts to his outside foot in his sets.
- Can be a little lazy with his outside hand in pass pro.
- Could use better attention to hand placement for block security.
- Needs to keep weight under his pads throughout the sustain phase.
- Had trouble playing too far out on his toes versus Penn State.

Logan Bruss is gonna start at RG man. This was a good pick honestly

Zero fault to be found in the Rams taking Logan Bruss at 104. Solid and sensible pick. What I’d really love to see now are their lists at edge rusher and cornerback, compared to who is still available.

April 30, 2022 at 12:34 am #138548znModeratorDeadpoolLogan Bruss – OT/OG – Wisconsin – 6′-5″ 316 lbs. – Great kid from everything I’ve read. Leader, and played OT and OG. He is tenacious blocker with good feet, but a tad stiff. Good, not great strength. I like him in any scheme as an OG, possibly RT, but I saw speed give him issues.
From my final mock draft under the 5th round pick:
Logan Bruss OT/OG from Wisconsin, he’s a team leader, the Rams have had success taking Wisc. OTs and making them OGS, do they try again? I like it.
So, I had him in the 5th round, but the Rams have a completely different strategy than I do stacking a board. Why I mentioned him as a Rams pick in the 5th? Well, he checks all the boxes:
Super high character. Volunteered time with Difference MAKER Football Camp for students with disabilities
team captain and a leader on and off the field
Engineering major (he’s smart)
Edwards transitioned from Wisc, so Bruss should have no issues
1 sack allowed in 3 years (34 starts)
NFL strength
Smooth mover
Strong hands and a solid punch
He likes to maul you, he isn’t a mauler, but he is tenacious once he locks you up. Looks to finish
Plays to the whistle
identifies stunts and understands anglesCons:
A little stiff and can get upright
Can get off balance at times (maybe part of the stiffness)
Speed gave him an issue on the edge (it won’t at guard)He is just a Rams guy thru and thru, high character, smart, hard working leader that fits the scheme. I have no doubt he will do just fine. I like this pick.

April 30, 2022 at 4:03 am #138552znModeratorRams Tapes @RamsTapesIn pass blocking, Logan Bruss allowed no sacks against 262 pressures last season and just two hits, seven hurries, and nine pressures for a 98.3 percent efficiency by PFF.Bruss is very athletic. Fun fact about him, he started at games at TE as a freshman. He’s as versatile as they get and will eventually be a starter..They traded a 5th in 2019 for 3 years of Corbett, and used a comp pick to take his replacement. It’s just good all around..Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueSean McVay says Logan Bruss will come in and “immediately” compete at right guard.April 30, 2022 at 4:12 am #138553znModeratorExcited to announce the @RamsNFL 3rd round pick tonight in my hometown!

.Jourdan Rodrigue@JourdanRodrigueHill also was a lead scout on Cooper Kupp, and more recently Jordan Fuller, FWIW..KaiZenRams@KaiZen_RamsHill didn’t expect Bruss to be available at 104 & took the plunge. That’s good to know that Rams were that high on him and marked him as a must pk if he’s there at 104.April 30, 2022 at 7:29 am #138560InvaderRamModeratori got the covid booster on thursday, and it completely knocked me out. but i was able to see the rams pick at the end yesterday.
reading about him i get a good feeling about this guy. and hey. if he turns out as good as the kupp pick. or the fuller pick. that’ll do. hopefully, he wins the starting job his rookie season and takes off.

Logan Bruss was drafted with pick 104 of round 3 in the 2022 draft class. He scored a 8.76 RAS out of a possible 10.00. This ranked 152 out of 1218 OT from 1987 to 2022. https://t.co/buuKasKxRA #RAS #Rams pic.twitter.com/Oe2aki1Vs2

After training in LA, Logan Bruss dreamed of playing for the Rams
Cameron DaSilva
April 29, 2022 10:28 pm PTLogan Bruss grew up in Wisconsin and played his college football for the Badgers, so he’s a Midwest kid through and through. But knowing he was making the jump to the NFL, he dreamed of warmer weather and beaches – and playing for the Rams.
During his call with media members on Friday, Bruss told reporters that he trained with David Edwards and Rob Havenstein in Los Angeles before the combine, and he loved it. That had him dreaming of being drafted by the Rams, which ultimately happened in the third round.
“I was training in L.A. for the combine, and I know a couple guys on the Rams’ O-line and it was good to be around that during that time, during the playoffs and the Super Bowl. It was a lot of fun,” Bruss said, via the team’s site. “I loved the area, and honestly this is the place I was kind of dreaming of coming to play. It’s a dream come true. I’m excited to see some familiar faces there.”
Edwards and Havenstein told Bruss the Rams might draft him, but the rookie called it “obviously crazy” that it actually wound up happening. He’s now the third Wisconsin lineman on the roster, and he could compete for starting snaps at right guard immediately.
Bruss being friends with Edwards and Havenstein should only make his transition from college to the NFL even easier – and he’ll also be moving from his original position of right tackle to guard, which the Rams see as a seamless switch.
The Rams are thrilled to have him aboard, and Kevin Carberry already said he looks like a Roman soldier.
“He said you look like a roman soldier.”

April 30, 2022 at 10:06 am #138564ZooeyModeratorThis is about as good as one can feel about a 3rd round Guard, I’d say.
I was hoping Cole Strange would drop, but this looks like a good Plan B.

Did you see the vid of the Rams live when NE picked C.Strange? It’s funny.
April 30, 2022 at 10:36 am #138567nittany ramModeratorI will never complain about drafting an o-lineman in the third round, especially if that o-lineman is from UW.
April 30, 2022 at 11:20 am #138568Billy_TParticipantSolid pick, but I think they could have maxed out their choices better at #104. I would have taken Zyon McCollum first, and then Bruss at #142. He very likely would have still been there, but the reverse is not likely to be the case. McCollum will be gone. You just don’t find too many 6’2″ corners with 4.3 speed, and the rest of the measurables. Three Cone and 20-yard shuttle times show he has elite quickness to go along with elite long-speed. You can’t teach that. You can coach him up, though, on technique, etc.

Want the Rams to get faster and more athletic through this draft. Amare Barno is the Edge guy to do that. Sub-4.4 speed, at 6’5″. Would be a great 6th Round pick.

Yeah. I thought it was funny, too, and I don’t think there was any offense, intentional or unintentional. There are always quality players who slip, and nobody knows in advance who they are going to be, so even at 104, the Rams were going to be studying dozens of players who might be pegged to go higher. I mean…you don’t eliminate the top 100, or even the top 50 players from your reports. Strange was evidently a guy they really liked who is from a smaller college, and could conceivably have gone undrafted until 104. There wasn’t any disrespect in any word those guys said about it. And this year, nobody even knew who the top 10 were gonna be.
I thought it was funny, and I thought the Heist trailer was funny, and I think the Rent-a-Mansion is funny, and it looks like everybody is having a good time, so fuck the haters. Whatever.

When the video went viral McVay phoned Belicheat to tell him he meant no disrespect to the Patriots’ coaches or Strange.
But IMO he really did.

‘Kay, well, I’m at my limit of mind-reading ability, and we are about to parse what “disrespect” means which I don’t really wanna do, so I will just maybe rephrase what I saw. I don’t think he “meant” much of anything because he was already afloat on Dom Perignon, and what he said was impulsive, not considered. What I gathered is that he and the Rams actually liked Strange quite a bit, and he was in a cluster of guys they were hoping could slip to them. He was surprised by how early he went, however. He didn’t expect him to come off the board THAT early, even if he wasn’t confident he would still be available at 104. If that’s “disrespect,” then the bar for disrespect is set pretty low, and every GM in the league is disrespected nearly every year if the bar for that is “somebody thinks you drafted a guy way too early.”
Most people just don’t get caught on camera saying it.
And – again – people who follow this draft stuff were pretty much in agreement that there wasn’t much agreement. Especially in the first round.

There is no maybe about Bruss, both Snead and McVay said he’s a plug and play guy….
He was the second highest rated guard on NFL.com draft board.
With his experience playing at Wisconsin, and they play a pro style offense, he will have no problem getting up to par with the RAMs blocking scheme and their playbook.
He is the first Guard the RAMs have drafted as a guard this high in the McVay and Snead era (Evans was initially at tackle).
So that says a lot about about Bruss and what the RAMs coaching staff thinks about him.

Four-year starter, Appleton WI. Earned second-team All-Big 10 honors in 2021, third-team in 2020. Has seen action at both guard and tackle for the Badgers, majority of which was outside. His skill set best projects on the inside at the next level. Quickly gets off the ball and onto his man whether it is in-line or at the second level. The feisty fighter excels at staying square to his target which can somewhat hide his athletic shortcomings. His main issues arise in pass protection. The hands are late, and the sudden reactions are not good enough. Often gets walked back into the pocket and will not adjust well to secondary moves. Has the attitude and power to play inside, and his lack of pure speed will not arise as often. Can be a valuable, versatile backup with the small but present potential of eventually starting at guard. Well-distributed mass throughout his entire frame. Excellent initial movement post-snap with sudden steps while maintaining body control. Versatile tools that can credibly project to both tackle and guard. A try-hard blocker that excels at staying square to his target. Reaches the point of contact in space in a hurry and consistently gets a solid initial punch. Will recover well when initially beat, stemming from quality footwork and a strong base. Anchors well against the bull rush. Gives up too much in pass protection on the outside. Speed and quickness threaten him too much and will put him on his heels. Hands are late. Needs to work on upper body techniques and timing. Pad level gets inconsistent and does not have enough natural power to make up for it. (A-33 1/8, H-10 3/4, BP-DNP, 10 – 1.79).
