Low hanging fruit, I realize, but I really appreciate Tutu Atwell. I don’t really care that he hadn’t done anything before today, he brings an element to the receiving corps that otherwise doesn’t exist. I don’t think $10 million is paying too much for him. He’s clearly not good enough to take away snaps from Nacua or Adams, but McVay seems to know how to use him when it matters most. Reminded me of his big catch late in the Niners game early last year.

Happy to see the field goal unit worked out their issues. Stafford is an all-timer. Aside from the botched handoff, the running game was solid and balanced between Corum and Williams. Nice to see on a such a short week. Curl and Verse came up big when it mattered most. I hope Verse’s finger is ok.

Anyway, great win. That will help me get over my still lingering depression over the self destructive loss to the Eagles.

Off to a good start, at 3-1. Gotta keep this going this Thursday against the Niners.

Looks like Puka is in the running for a record-breaking season. Just needs to stay healthy. Hope the Rams came out of the game in good shape on a short week.

As some of you might remember, i started watching the rams near the end of the 1968 season. I was eleven years old. The only players i knew were Deacon, Merlin and Roman.

But the first full season i followed them was 1969. We didnt have ESPN or cable networks or internet. (We traveled by Woolly Mammoth in WV back then)
The first game in 1969 was against John Unitas and the Baltimore Colts. (who were coming off a Super Bowl loss to Namath).

I could only follow the Rams by watching a non-ram network game, and watching for the game reports and halftime and postgame shows.

But i remember following the score of that first game. Random snippets and reports on the game would pop up on the screen of the Steeler game I had to watch. Baltimore was favored by six.

I still remember the final score. I smile just thinking about it. Rams 27. Colts 20.
Unitas had 3 INTs. Billy Truax had a TD. Roman had 3 TDs no picks.

Anyway, the Indy Colts belong in Baltimore. And the football gods know this. And that is why the gods flicked the ball out of that idiot reciever’s hands at the goal line. And that is why Johnathan Taylor ran a long way for nothing.

Bring on the 49ers. Who stayed in SF where they belong.

If you had told me before the season that the Rams would be three and one after their first four games, I would’ve taken it and been happy.

    So I’m happy 🙂

stafford off to his best start since the superbowl season.

offense probably the best it’s looked so far this season. although i haven’t seen the philly game in its entirety. hopefully the offense continues to gel especially as adams gets comfortable.

I don’t remember exactly when I started following the Rams. It was 67 or 68. I recall attending the 20-20 tie with the 9ers at Kezar Stadium in 1968, and I know I was a Rams fan before we went to that game. And so I already knew of Jack Snow, too. I must have known about Bernie Casey because KFI in LA had a “Groaner” contest in which participants submitted bad sports puns, and the daily winner got a prize. I made a truly embarrassing joke using Bernie Casey’s name…and won. They sent me a balloon shaped like a clown that came with clip-on cardboard clown feet. I was already famous at the age of 8.

Yesterday, I accidentally referred to the Colts as “Baltimore,” and my son was very confused. I had to explain why I made the error.

It is good to be lucky once in a while. My son made the comment that the fumble was the kind of play you find yourself desperately hoping for in those big games when the Rams are down late. Too good to be true.

It was a win, and I’ll take it. I don’t know why I’m slightly dissatisfied. Maybe I’m just expecting the Rams to average 7 sacks a game, or something. I want to see a statement game. Seems like they should have rolled over one or both of the Oilers teams more definitively. Yesterday was a good win, but I don’t know what the Colts are. How am I supposed to take them seriously. Even though their rankings were good, they hadn’t played anybody good. And I don’t know how good Daniel Jones is. Maybe he’s a Baker Mayfield/Sam Darnold guy who just needed to be on a decent team.

I think we got a glimpse of the Rams against Philly, and I think we’ll learn something when they play the 9ers. I just don’t have a good feel for the AFC teams, so I don’t know what to make of those games.

In terms of how the Rams are setting up for the season, I think this is an upgraded version of last year. Last year they started slow and then gelled. That meant they started off with losses. This year it’s a better team with a much stronger version of starting off slow. This year starting off slow means they look less dominant at times.

Well, damn. I thought you started in 69. Now that Waterfield is gone, i guess you have the longest tenure around here. (Is Waterfield still alive?)

I dont think you can just allude to a famous and original Bernie Casey joke and then NOT tell the joke. What could possibly be funny about Bernie Casey?

Rams are good. Top four in the NFC. Eagles, Lions, Rams, Bucs. Seattle might be in the mix. Packers ‘should’ be, but somethin seems off about them so far.

All those teams are close enough so that whichever team is healthiest at the end of the year, will probly win the NFC. I mean, all those teams are an ACL or two away from losing.

Bear in mind I had just turned 8.

The pun setup had Bernie looking for his traveling case after a game. And Roman Gabriel pointed to it in the locker room, and said, “Bernie, there’s your case, see?”

    Casey. Get it?

I got a balloon for it, and was enormously happy about that. Years later, I figured that they must just not have received many entries, because…you know. It’s pretty lame.

i didn’t realize this at the time, but the colts only had ten men on the field on the tutu td. add to the fact that tutu’s defender tripped over himself. the rams were even luckier than i thought.

i knew about the two mitchell mistakes and that was bad enough.

this might be worse than the two blocked fgs on the rams.

Yep. 2 Colts TDs negated (one of which directly gave the ball back to the Rams), and then the winning TD was thrown against 10 defenders on the field, one of which (the guy who had Atwell) tripped.

But as I said above…I will take a “win by luck” game now and then.

And I’m sure you’ll agree, but in the middle of all that, the Rams also made plays…it’s not like they just coasted. Nacua came to play, Williams was running his heart out, Stafford had a perfect qb rating in the 4th quarter, one TD was thrown on a 4th and 2, and Curl intercepted Jones twice. Before that game the Colts had punted only once in three games (it was 4 times this game). So the Rams were in the game…but luck absolutely did smile on them in this one.

oh definitely. i said before stafford off to the best start of his career since the superbowl winning season. the colts game was probably the best game he’s had so far this season. puka off to a record start. he was clutch in this game especially the first half. kyren looked strong running the ball as you said. curl had an amazing game.

    lots of positives here.

Kyren was also an effective blocker on Sunday. As always. It doesn’t make highlights or show up in his stats, but he does that well.
