vWell it’s impossible to win EVERY game. A real Rams fan would understand that.
November 17, 2014 at 9:31 am #1203721DogParticipantChargers got RB Ryan Mathews (1,255 yds a year ago) back yesterday. He had been out since early Sept.

November 17, 2014 at 10:23 am #12041PA RamParticipantRivers is playing hurt.
Bad ribs or some such thing. He’s a tough guy but if the Rams hit him and hit him?
Yes–the Rams CAN win this game.
But as a Rams fan I know that what you see this week may not look like next week. I HOPE they win. But I’m not making any bold prediction.

hurt his knee yesterday and was able to play through it….
I won’t be surprised if we see Clemens next week.

Well, if Clemens beats the rams
i think we all have to seriously consider
insisting that Zooey commit

November 18, 2014 at 8:53 am #12102znModeratorOn the Chargers offensive line problems:
–
http://www.boltsfromtheblue.com/2014/11/17/7235501/how-to-fix-the-san-diego-chargers-offensive-lineProblem number one is interior blocking. Nick Hardwick is not coming back, Chad Rinehart has been terrible, Johnnie Troutman has been woefully inconsistent, and Rich Ohrnberger is decent when healthy (which is rare). This group has not been able to push the line and help the running game.
Problem number two is speed rushers. Every defense in the NFL has at least one guy who gets to QBs based on his speed and athleticism instead of pure strength, and they’re been having great success pointing them directly at a (possibly injured) D.J. Fluker at Right Tackle.

(SD v. Oakland)
After being held scoreless (37-0) a week ago last Sunday in Miami, San Diego’s offense wasn’t exactly barnstorming on this Sunday afternoon. Chargers were a meager 4-of-15 on third down conversions, finishing with 300 yards of total offense (120 rushing). The return of starting running back Ryan Mathews (out since week two with a knee injury) did help, as the fifth-year back out of Fresno State finished the day with 70 yards on 16 carries. The biggest problem for San Diego was the offensive line’s inability to give Rivers and the running game consistent protection. Rivers took a number of hits, including a pair that had him in noticeable pain (knee, chest). Although he finished the game, he likely needed a long time in an ice bath after this snoozer of an offensive performance by the team as a whole. Keenan Allen led San Diego’s receivers with eight catches for 63 yards.
November 18, 2014 at 12:22 pm #12110PA RamParticipantI worry more about the Chargers defense. It may be tough to get points. It may look a lot like last week’s game–a key field goal here and there, a touchdown, a well-managed game. Low scoring. They will have to avoid mistakes and penalties. And they will need the refs to actually call holding as they did this week against Denver.
If that comes together there is no reason the Rams can’t beat the Chargers. They are very beatable. Yes–I worry about Gates. But a QB with sore ribs is going to be an issue for them.
Still, the Rams will have to find points from somewhere.
But they can win this game.

November 19, 2014 at 5:06 pm #12169GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantI think the same kind of game they played against Manning and the Broncos beats the Chargers. Both Broncos and Chargers are very similar in how they play offense and why not? Chargers head coach was Mannings OC is first year in Denver.
Rivers is a similar type of QB to Manning.Antonio Gates is Rivers security blanket. If they can take Gates away this should give them a good chance. Also, pressure, sacks and hits on Rivers is most important.
I think the Rams can utilize their TEs in this game against San Diego. I’d love to see the Rams stack their receivers in much the same manner the Patriots did versus the Colts last week.
Tre Mason should play a huge role in the offenses and team’s success.

November 19, 2014 at 6:01 pm #12171WinnbradParticipantI expect Rivers to get hit early and often. I hope they start hitting him when he gets off the bus.
The Rams, “West Coast Defense” is looking pretty good lately. 🙂
November 19, 2014 at 9:50 pm #12186znModeratorWith the SD game, the Rams will have played 6 top 10 defenses in 7 games, going back to the 1st SF game. In a row that’s SF (4th), Seattle (3rd), KC (8th), SF (4th), ARz (13th), Denver (5th), & then SD (9th).
Then there’s Oakland (18th).
November 20, 2014 at 12:26 am #12195znModeratorI merged a couple of “SD game coming what do posters say” threads. Grits and Winbrad got added to the previous thread which bumped it here.

Chargers have played an easy schedule
the Raiders twice, the Jets, Jacksonville and Buffalo are five of their six wins. They did beat Seattle but lost to Miami, Denver, KC and Arizona. We have a chance and then the schedule gets a whole lot easier.
November 21, 2014 at 2:26 pm #12303DakParticipantI’m not a betting man, but if I were, I’d take the Rams and the points (I think 4-1/2) in this game. I expect the Rams to come out on top. Prediction: 19-14
