Arm length can dictate draft position more than anything else sometimes.

    For instance

La’el Collins and Scherff are OGs. Both under 34″ arms with 33 1/4 and 33 3/8th respectively. They just dropped out of the top ten. Peat. Ogbuehi and Clemmings will likely take their place with 34.5, 35.5 and 35.5 respectively. Ereck Flowers maybe too at 34.5. Both OK Ots have long enough arms.

Tackles I want long arms, OGs and OCs I want BIG HEAVY HANDS.

Corey Robinson Made my head turn at 6-7 335 with 35 5/8th inch arms AND 10.75 hands. He just made himself some money as a right tackle.

Scherff was the only person with 11″ hands. That’s really big.

Kuandjio has 34.5 inch arms AND 10 7/8th inch hands.

scherff. i was impressed. if the rams could trade down and pick him i wouldn’t be disappointed. big hands. decent arm length.

and more importantly he can play. i think he could be a great guard. like zack martin was.

    MORSE SHINES

    By Jim Thomas

    http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/rams-notes-weinke-hired-as-qbs-coach/article_bb5fef78-3342-548e-b435-e6bce6c81e71.html

Among the 52 offensive linemen invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, Mitch Morse of the University of Missouri finished second in the bench press, hoisting the 225-pound weight 36 times. He was topped only by Ereck Flowers of Miami (Fla.), who had 37 reps.

Surprisingly, Iowa strongman Brandon Scherff — he of the 480-pound hang clean — had only 23 reps Thursday. Scherff is generally considered the best offensive lineman in this year’s draft class.

Among other highly-regarded offensive linemen, Pitt’s T.J. Clemmings had only 22 reps and LSU’s La’el Collins had only 21. Scherff and Collins both had formal interviews scheduled with the Rams at the Combine.

At tight end, Southern Illinois Carbondale and Kirkwood High product MyCole Pruitt had a decent showing, tying for 10th at his position in the bench press with 17 reps.

Rare when any of these numbers make me do anything more than a shrug but they can sometimes eliminate concern. Might at least stir up some talk.

After leading all of the offensive linemen in the bench press, Miami’s Ereck Flowers had a good workout in the field drills. Flowers (6-6, 329) had an unofficial 40 time of 5.29 and a 10-yard split of 1.78. That is a fast time considering Flowers is heavier than most of the top offensive linemen. In the field work, Flowers slid well while showing real power and shock in his hands in the pads drills. He did well in the mirror drill, but needs a little work to stay compact and not get his arms wide. Flowers is only 20 years old and is full of potential.

    Ereck Flowers*, OT, Miami
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 324.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.33.
    Projected Round (2015): Top-25 Pick.
1/17/15: Flowers put together an excellent junior season. He demonstrated excellent feet, quickness, length and agility to block on the blind side. In the ground game, Flowers opened a lot of holes for Duke Johnson. Flowers even played well while dealing with a recurring knee injury from a torn meniscus. That knocked him out against North Carolina, but he came back quickly to play well against Florida State.

Flowers was absolutely dominant against South Carolina to conclude his 2014 season. He illustrated his tremendous skill set as he was rock solid in pass protection and moved defenders in the ground game.

Flowers finishes plays really well and has a mean streak. The only thing that might keep him from being a top-10 pick is bending. Some times he does more waist bending rather than knee bending, which NFL teams prefer. However, that often comes with the territory of a big blocker. It wouldn’t be surprising if Flowers’ stock rises in the lead up to the 2015 NFL Draft as the stud tackle looks like a NFL franchise left tackle who should also be a powerful presence in the ground game. Multiple teams told WalterFootball.com that they’ve given Flowers a first-round grade – some put him in the top 20.

8/27/14: Flowers saw his first action at right tackle in 2012. He started four games and rotated into others. In 2013, Miami trusted Flowers to start at left tackle and had a solid season. The Hurricanes’ coaching staff played him over the highly touted Seantrel Henderson. Flowers has room for improvement, but he’s young and has upside.

Here’s Flipper 336’s ol from his top 50. I’ve not seen many talk about one of his top guards, Harrison. But that guy had an excellent performance at the combine. He weighed in at 6’4″ 330 and moved well with a 7.51 3 cone drill & 4.6 short shuttle. He looks like he would be an excellent choice in round 2 for the Rams.

With guys like Scherff, Erving, Harrison, and Kuandijo the Rams should be able to address the interior line this year. When’s the last time the Rams actually had two good starting guards?

    + T.J. Clemmings, Pitt
    Andrus Peat, Stanford

    Close….
    Jake Fisher, Oregon

    OG/C

    Brandon Scherff, Iowa
    La’el Collins, LSU

    Close….

    Jarvis Harrison, Texas A&M

    nfl.com is posting their short times…not good…

IMO Peat and Collins tested as late 1/2nd rd picks..Fisher late 1 as well as Erving… Mitch Morse and Marpet 2nd/3rd rd types…

Glowinski, Gallik and Harrison posted solid numbers but nothing great…Sambraillo did ok as well as Clemming and Humphries…

Laken Thomlinson ran a 4.87 short shuttle( bad) and as a group very mediocre numbers at best

Williams best of a mediocre te group..my guy Heuerman did a very solid 26 lifts but didn’t run

    10 yd splits

if the nfl networks times are accurate and they are consistent with their avg/poor times…very disappointing times

    Lane Johnson 1.61
    Kyle Long 1.68
    Bitonio 1.69
    Eric Fisher 1.70
    Greg Robinson 1.71
    Taylor Lewan 1.71
    Jonathan Cooper 1.73
    Jake Matthews 1.73
    Ali Marpet 1.74
    Jake Fisher 1.75
    Jamil Douglas 1.75
    Scherff 1.78
    Flowers 1.78

    Ricky Wagner 1.79
    TJ Clemmigs 1.80
    DJ Humphries 181
    Lael Collins 1.81
    Ty Sambrailo 1.81
    Reese Dismukes 1.81
    Andrus Peat 1.82
    Mark Glowinski 1.82
    Laken Tomlinson 1.83

That is kind of what you see in this years entire class. There are no top 5 or top 10 or players, except maybe Williams and Cooper. Everyone is close. Players that have a larger talent, also have a larger red flag(Dorial Green-Beckham). So this is a take what you need draft. imo

well again. i would say flowers’ time is very impressive given his size. right below greg robinson. joe thomas ran a 1.75 and he was over 15 pounds lighter than flowers.

Did White really run a 4.35,

see link…Cooper, White and Parker Solidify Top-10 Grades

This wide receiver class is loaded, and the top prospects produced legit numbers during testing on Saturday morning with Amari Cooper (4.42), Kevin White (4.35) and DeVante Parker (4.45) all answering questions on their vertical speed in the 40-yard dash.

I see Cooper as the most polished route-runner in this class, and that was on display during positional drills. He glides through his cuts and is smooth at the top of the route.

White’s size (6’3″, 215 pounds) is going to create matchups in the NFL, and he has the ball skills and body control to adjust at the point of attack (go check out the tape versus Alabama). With Parker (6’3″, 209 pounds), think about the athleticism and the ability to stretch the field. That’s where he shows up on tape—making plays on contested throws.

White is expected to come off the board first in the draft (possibly No. 4 to Oakland); however, all three of these wideouts should grade out as top-10 picks after the workouts on Saturday in Indianapolis. There is a ton of talent (and pro speed) with this group.

    ….
Eastern Carolina’s Shane Carden struggled at the Senior Bowl with his ball placement, and I didn’t see anything during workouts to change the narrative on the quarterback.
