Apparently you can bet on who the next coach is gonna be. Vegas thinks it’s gonna be Josh McDaniels.

December 13, 2016 at 1:32 pm #60949ZooeyModeratorWhat? No Bill Cowher? Jimmy Johnson?
I just saw an article over at CBS saying Pete Carroll. Seriously. A guy with 2-3 years left on his contract with Seattle.
Good lord.
December 13, 2016 at 8:42 pm #60976canadaramParticipantDavid Shaw and Kyle Shanahan intrigue me the most. Admittedly I know very little about Shanahan and I know only a little bit more about Shaw. I have a lousy record at predicting HC success so ultimately I don’t really care who it is at this point. I just don’t want it to be Jeremy Shockey or Terrell Owens.

Yeah I feel like we dodged a bullet there.

Really? I was always under the impression KD was the wizard behind the cap.
If it’s not KD, then who is responsible for contracts and cap…and what exactly is KD’s job then?

Doing the contracts and being in charge of managing the cap are or can be 2 different things.
The new contracts guy is Tony Pastoors. He’s a Dartmouth boy so IMO that means he’s Demoff’s hire. They wouldn’t hand the cap over to a junior guy. So he works with Demoff. If Demoff were The Joker, Pastoors would be Bob…his #1 guy.
On Pastoors:
Tucked away in an office opposite of Rams C.O.O. Kevin Demoff sits Tony Pastoors, the senior assistant of the Los Angeles Rams. As the team’s lead negotiator, Pastoors works alongside Demoff in salary cap management, contract negotiations, compliance with the NFL’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and the team’s financial and strategic planning
.

Demoff took on a lot of other duties with the move to LA. LA is his priority now. imo For example there were no early signings last year. They didn’t sign Jenkins, although they could have, because they did have enough cap space. imo If Fisher wanted him signed, then why wasn’t he signed? That is a big question mark for me.
December 14, 2016 at 7:04 pm #61090InvaderRamModeratorI am for hiring Polian to set up the franchise. He can fire Demoff and build from there. Demoff doesn’t do contracts any more, so I don’t need him.
someone. other than demoff. i do NOT want demoff deciding who the next head coach is.
might as well have one of us deciding the next head coach.

I’m not pushing for him at this point…just interested.

December 15, 2016 at 8:15 am #61117AgamemnonParticipantDecember 15, 2016 at 7:50 pm #61152InvaderRamModeratorlet me just say that i do NOT want gruden as the rams’ next head coach. i think this whole qb whisperer label that’s been attached to gruden is complete myth. i don’t know of one instance where he’s developed a qb. if they pick gruden, it’ll just reinforce to me that demoff should not be making football decisions. it would just be a sizzle name to attach to the rams with no real substance. just another freaking pr move.
i’d rather have someone like a harbaugh or arians or mccarthy. guys who have a proven track record of developing young quarterbacks. or maybe there’s someone we don’t know about. i don’t care. that’s why they need a football guy making these decisions.
