So the Bills are crushing the Jets, i see.
…i still dont get how this works. Because there are still games next week. I would have thought the algrebra could all change again with next weeks games. ( assuming the Rams lose to the Seahawks and end up tied)
w
vIf the “3 teams win” scenario works, then the Rams clinch now. This weekend.
Otherwise, they have to beat Seattle next week.
Today:
Bengals won.
Bills winning, by a huge margin. Is it true the Rams HAVE to beat Seattle next week? I know that would have been true if they lost to the Cards, but I think that victory means they would likely still win the division even if they lost to the Seahawks based on SOV. I mean, I saw that after the Rams beat the Cards that the Seahawks’ chance to win the division dropped to less than 1%. If it’s that low, how could beating the Rams propel them to the division title? I think for that to happen, they need to beat the Rams, and have a bunch of unlikely circumstances fall their way.

December 29, 2024 at 6:13 pm #154302wvParticipantIt would be funny if the Rams end up rooting for the 49ers to win Monday night.

Bills won.
Vikings won.Browns lost.
So it’s up to the Commanders beating the Falcons.
December 29, 2024 at 7:23 pm #154305ZooeyModeratorSo if the Commies beat Atlanta, the Rams clinch. Yes?

Precisely, thus rendering your precious Seahawks’ trip to SoFi next week a waste of time.
Bwahhahahahahaha…

No, that just means Seattle can rest its starters.

December 29, 2024 at 8:03 pm #154310wvParticipantWell, i personally guarantee a win by the Commies.
I have watched the Falcons and they are awful. So are the Houston Texans. Neither should be allowed in the playoffs.

2 minutes to go, Washington up 24-17 with Atlanta in redzone.

It’s mostly a meaningless game for the Rams, but the Bucs can still overtake them for the No. 3 seed with a win vs. NO and a loss by the Rams in Week 183 seed gets you GB or WAS in the wild-card round
4 seed gets you MIN or DETDecember 30, 2024 at 12:10 am #154323znModeratorAll that remains… 👀

The Rams will be the NFC No. 3 seed and host the No. 6 seed Wild Card weekend (Commanders or Packers) with:1) A win/tie vs Seahawks
OR
2) Buccaneers loss/tie vs Saints
Otherwise, Rams will be the No. 4 seed and host Lions/Vikings loser on Wild Card weekend

Hosting the Lions would be interesting. But i cant see the Rams beating ‘any’ of those teams right now. Maybe the Commanders.

A couple of weeks ago, I feared the Packers, Bucs, and Eagles the most. But that was before the Rams went on a 3TD splurge over 3 games against 3 teams that aren’t making the playoffs. I don’t know what to make of it. But it sure doesn’t look like a team you have much hope for.
Still. Our boy McVay is a good coach, and he doesn’t have to worry much about the Seahawks. He can use that as a scrimmage game, and focus on his possible Wild Card opponents. I mean… you give the Rams a bye week, and they come back with things corrected.

They beat Minnesota and Buffalo. They must have an “on” button somewhere.

Packers or Commanders, OR,
Lions or Vikings (whichever loses).Do we have any preferences?
I dunno. All four seem like tough match-ups to me. I guess, i would rank them this way, maybe.
Lions
Packers
Vikings
Commanders.I guess, the rams would have the best chance against a rookie QB.
The Rams just always seem to play like shit against the Packers. Its annoying.
They lose to the Lion, but at least they play well against the Lions.
Hard for me to see the Rams beating the vikings twice. I dunno.

vI think I prefer the Lions. They have 5 defensive starters on IR now which is the highest # of any team in the playoffs since 1970. The Rams took them to OT in Detroit without a functional OL, with Nacua getting knocked out of the game, and a defense that was formed with a bunch of children playing their first NFL game ever. This would be in Los Angeles, and the Rams are as healthy as they have been all season. The Lions would also be coming off a devastating loss to Minnesota that sent them out to LA, when they were the team sitting at the #1 seed all season long. They would have to fight to overcome the knowledge that their team was falling apart down the stretch. Their minds would have doubt in them where they had complete confidence most of the season. The difference between these two teams in the last two games was narrow, and I think their circumstances close that gap. Plus the Rams defense has steadily improved all year, and their OL has gelled. The Rams would need to get a couple of stops. Get to Goff, or get a big turnover, or stop them on one of Campbell’s dumb 4th down calls, and the Rams win. Plus this would be just karmic payback, and I’m here for it. The Lions fans finally believing this was their year, only to have Stafford whack them when they finally embraced Goff. I would rooting for the Lions if their path did not cross with the Rams, but I think this would be the most interesting matchup from my point of view as a fan. Just simply the game I would most like to watch, come what may.
If I had to put $5 down on the team I think they will play, it would be the Commanders. I just think the Rams are gonna beat Seattle, even with their JV team. Seattle hasn’t got a damn thing to play for, and probably half those guys already have their reservations booked for a beach somewhere. I don’t know if their coach can get them to care enough about this game. Maybe he can. I dunno. Gut feeling only, obviously. I think the Commanders are the only team the Rams would be favored against, probably rightly so. Rookie QB, as you say.

January 3, 2025 at 11:07 am #154415ZooeyModeratorI appreciate that perspective from DaSilva. All that rings true to me.
I just had a thought reading it: the Lions right now remind me of the 2000 Rams.
They can scorch anybody, but are vulnerable on defense, and have a head coach who takes “outside the box” risks.
January 4, 2025 at 12:53 am #154428znModeratorbased on this wk's odds and where you look, it appears the rams have the best chance (37%) at hosting min in the wc rnd, followed by was (27%), det (26%) and gby (10%).
det has been scary good on the road, so has min, while all 4 qbs have played very well on the road in 2024. pic.twitter.com/WzYzknz8B6

January 4, 2025 at 12:57 am #154429znModeratorMcVay doesn’t care who the Rams have to play in the first round.
He explained why seeding didn’t influence his decision to rest players and it doesn’t matter to him whether the Rams are the No. 3 or 4.
“No, I think there’s a difference if you’re talking about playing for a bye,” he said. “… Here, you’re talking about either the third or the fourth seed. You could sit here and try to play all these different things, [but] we have to be ready to go. Somebody’s coming in here and that’s going to be an excellent team that earned an opportunity to be in the postseason. If you want to do what you’re going to do, you can’t necessarily duck anybody. You always have to weigh that risk-reward of we want to continue to make sure that all these games are important. There’s maybe some flexibility that you have based on your injury situation.”
