Emmanuel Acho (who played for the Browns and Eagles) has never raved about Stafford like THAT before. Jeezus.

I’m glad he started with the throw in the windy cold chicago weather to Davante. In clutch time. In a playoff game. Just ridiculous.

As was the no-look throw over the middle to Kupp in the Super Bowl.

Stafford, like Aaron Donald is a Hall of Famer.

Are we allowed to wonder if he is ‘better than Brady’ ? I suppose not.

Brady, Warner, Trent Green, and Purdy–as a type–had traits in common (though Brady took the best advantage of them). While not physically imposing, they all had both accuracy and the ability to process quickly. They all had decent enough arms, not cannons but they could get by with their arms, but mainly it’s accuracy/processing. I have read things where analysts say that in the college passing game those traits are not always visible. So often NFL teams don’t know what they have in that type until the players get some coaching. That’s why all 4 of those guys were picked, at the highest, in the 6th round.

    Stafford has those traits.

But he also has a cannon arm.

(And also of course he’s as tough as a linebacker.)

He goes 1st in the draft.

Can he be compared to Brady? I think in purely abstract terms yes. But then Brady was in New England getting rings and Stafford was in Detroit getting injuries. So that will always tilt the discussion.

The Stafford vs Brady game at Tampa in 2022 had to be one of the greatest games in Ram history.

Matthew Stafford (LAR): 28/38, 366 yards, 2 passing TDs, 1 rushing TD.
Tom Brady (TB): 30/54, 329 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 1 lost fumble.

Cooper Kupp (LAR): 9 receptions, 183 yards, 1 TD.
    Mike Evans(TB): 8 receptions, 119 yards, 1 TD
    ===========

The Regular season game at SoFi. Rams 34 Tampa 24

Matthew Stafford (LAR): 27/38, 343 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INT
Tom Brady (TB): 41/55, 432 yards, 0 TD, 0 INT

Cooper Kupp (LAR): 9 catches, 96 yards, 2 TDs
DeSean Jackson (LAR): 3 catches, 120 yards, 1 TD
Tyler Higbee (LAR): 5 catches, 38 yards, 1 TD
