Love #RamsCamp, but a reminder to asterisk any real-time observations from the sidelines with plenty of caveats.
Even for the best of the amateur sideline spotters, it’s tough to make declarative statements on what you see/don’t see. (Still fun tho)======
RamBill: WagonerNick Wagoner @nwagoner
But worth noting, rookie Greg Robinson took bulk of the reps with first team at, wait for it, left tackle. Saffold at LG, Joseph at RG.
Fisher said after practice Rams will rotate offensive linemen to different spots until LT Jake Long returns.
As for practice itself, fair to say the offense is behind the defense. Very little time for Bradford to throw in 11 on 11.
DE William Hayes, who is recovering from offseason surgeries, also did light work but did not practice.
C Scott Wells attended practice and did some running during warmups but did not practice. Tim Barnes took reps with first team in the middle
S Christian Bryant, FB Kadeem Jones, LB Johnny Millard, DE Sammy Brown, DT Ethan Westbrooks, OT Jake Long among those not participating.
#Rams off the practice field for first training camp workout. QB Sam Bradford was full go for workout.

Rams great and future Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner to be broadcasting live from Rams Park on Sunday for NFL Network.
Not practicing today for Rams: S Christian Bryant, DL Ethan Westbrooks, FB Kadeem Jones, DE Sammy Brown, C Scott Wells, LB Johnny Millard.
Didn’t really watch him today, but Donald looked almost unblockable in OTAs. Very quick. Uses hands well, especially for a rookie.
Crowd announced at 1,484 at Rams Park, which is a pretty small area for fans compared to most camp sites.
Also in the house, offensive line guru Jim Hanifan.
ESPN Sports Center will be going live from Rams Park tomorrow morning.
Ominous skies and pre-practice rain scared off some fans, so crowd down a little compared to opening day in 2013. But still a good turnout.
With William Hayes coming back from multiple offseason surgeries, DE Michael Sam worked a lot with the second-team defense Friday.
Sam Bradford looked a little rusty in first practice of training camp. but moved around well.
Good to see one of our industry greats, Rick Telander of the Chicago Sun-Times, at Rams camp today.
Rams add DE Kourtnei Brown, a first-year player from Clemson. He replaces WR Jamaine Sherman, who was waived/injured (hamstring).

My son and I went after the storm, arrived around 4 p.m.
Sam Bradford is moving well and has no hesitation with the knee.
Jake Long walking well, doing exercises, did not practice.
Robert Quinn is unstoppable. He’s in the backfield as much as Bradford and Stacy.
Aaron Donald is a beast and can’t be stopped.
The pass rush is furious. There is so much speed and power in the DL.
Kenny Britt didn’t impress much, although he had a nice catch and run near the end of practice. He got a good block from Chris Givens and made the most of it. Bradford talked to Britt a couple of times after certain plays. Maybe telling him the route?
Jared Cook made a couple of nice catches. Both of these guys are BIG.
Austin Pettis knows the playbook backward and forward. He runs nice routes and made a nice catch on a lame duck pass from Austin Davis.
Garrett Gilbert shows promise, but needs coaching on his footwork.
JL has complete command of the defense, makes all the calls, tells everybody what to do.
TJ Moe had limited chances, didn’t see much from him. I don’t recall any passes thrown his way.
M.Sam on the field as a pass-rusher, and was right in the middle of a running play. When he wasn’t playing, he stood on the side, like everyone else. No special attention given to him by team and he did nothing to attract attention to himself…just another guy on the field. In short, I’m glad our offense never has to play our defense in a game. Sack City is here.
There was a nice crowd today, lots of media on hand. The Rams keep improving the training camp experience for the fans…much better than even 2 years ago. That’s all for today. We’ll try to go out again on Sunday.

The 2014 St. Louis Rams are here! In what some of us diehards might consider a good omen, fierce thunderstorms hit the area early in the afternoon, but magically the skies dried up and the clouds parted literally as the team took the field. I kept waiting for some kind of Monty Python musical score to kick in and cardboard cutouts to dance around the skies but I saw none…maybe its the real thing?
– This much money, this much at stake…NFL teams take attention to detail to a whole new level over what most of us experience in the workplace. For example, even when QBs warm up by “throwing to each other”, what they really do is throw to some assistant standing next to the other QB, who gently underhands it to the waiting QB a foot away…just in case someone puts a little too much zip on it and accidentally jams somebody’s finger.
– When you watch closely at how a practice gets organized, you can start to pick up little “tells” on what the coaches are thinking that day. For example, splitting QBs and RBs into two groups on a given day looks random, until you notice that the TEs, and WRs, all start to follow the same pattern…the obvious starters are being grouped with the obvious camp cuts, and the guys who are really competing for 2nd and 3rd spots on the depth chart are in one group working together…makes it easier later on film to compare apples to apples.
– Given that grouping, I’d say Isaiah Pead and Trey Watts are viewed by the coaches right now about the same way, and neither guy probably wants to take out a second mortgage right now…although its obviously still as early as it gets.
– Much of the day was spent in 2 TE sets with Kendrick and Cook today, using either Austin or Quick in the slot.
– As understandable as it may be given circumstances, I think it warrants a mention that Bradford looked pretty rusty out there. At certain points he looked physically uncomfortable, and he still has a little bit of a hitch in his gittup.
– Kickoff the inevitable Daily Robinson Watch…started at LT, nothing else to really report as they were in shells only and so line play was half speed. “Sacks” in these situations are pretty arbitrary, though too many of them can start to get into a guy’s head, pads or not.

RamboneAppreciate all the reports over the years, time for me to step up.
Beautiful day – about 80. Storm passed thru earlier but humidity not a problem.
Very nice crowd turn-out – not huge but crowded and enthusiastic.
OK, let’s get this out of the way – Michael Sam can play. Yeah he looked like a rookie a couple of times, but good first step and would have had a couple of sacks as well. Tough time making the team ‘cause this D-line is the real deal.
A. Donald – it’s true, he’s a beast. Could not be blocked or caught a couple of times. Lined up w/ Sam to his left a few times – constant good pressure up the middle.
I don’t think Pettis makes the team this year. Just seems a step slow going downfield or the sideline.
Really like how K. Britt pumps up his teammates, congratulates his fellow wide-outs and stirs things up in general.
D-back that showed up today? E. J. Gains. Had a pick on a poor ball by Bradford, but had a couple of breakups and stuck to his man continually.
Interesting drill for the O-line where they moved the crowd back and had them push guys UP a hill. Pretty cool to watch and you got really close to the action, pushing and grunting.
O-Line, as much as you can tell w/o pads – D. Joseph looks mean, hungry and immovable, and G. Robinson is just a natural athlete.
J. Cook caught a couple of nice balls and juked his way past guys. Same as camp last year though.
J. Cook, B. Quick and K. Britt lined up at the same time? Wow, height and muscle – imposing.
Tavon is Tavon. Quick, having fun – made a nice low grab across the middle. Why do I worry about so many of his routes being across the middle?
Ray Ray Armstrong is gonna push Dunbar. Quick feet and good first step.
Bradford to me, contrary to other reports, looked rusty. Had good throws but missed badly a couple of times and slightly behind receivers.
Favorite Moment – Garret Gilbert coming thru the running backs and receivers pumping them up and talking thru plays that happened earlier. Players responded by five-ing him back. Also stopped one play and repositioned Britt who lined up wrong.
My surprise long-shot player to watch? WR Austin Franklin. Good body control, hands and burst off the line. Will need to see with the pads on before going further ’cause he’s kind of small.
Mr. Hustle? T. J Moe. Sure can catch and I think a keeper for PS.
Best Day? O-Lance Kendricks. Catching and blocking. D-Aaron Donald, obvious speed.
