Marcus Peters with the pick-6 five days after being traded to RavensAndrew Siciliano@AndrewSiciliano
Marcus Peters has a very particular set of skills. He’s the best pick-6 corner in the @NFL.That’s Russell Wilson’s first INT in 221 attempts.Bucky Brooks@BuckyBrooks
Marcus Peters already making an impact for the @Ravens .. He’s not a shutdown corner, he’s a playmaker and there’s a huge difference..==

October 20, 2019 at 5:53 pm #107010InvaderRamModeratorjust gonna put this out there and see what people say.
could the rams have done better in adjusting the defense to peters’ strengths?
as it is, i think pff rated him pretty highly this season despite giving up some big plays.
and i ask all this while conceding that ramsey is the better overall cornerback. i don’t think there can be any question about that. based on what i’m reading and hearing it seems like ramsey is the type to make a defense better – much like an aaron donald. peters doesn’t seem to have that transformative ability.

Talib kept him honest, but as soon as he went down, Peters became a GAPING hole in the defense. I’m on anxiety medication also so my shit is 💯 right now

But I’d rather have a good solid ‘complete’ CB, at this point.
If the Rams can rebuild their OLine next year, they have a shot. The TE’s look good. WR’s look good. Defense in general looks good. Special teams look good. QB is good enough, imho. Is Henderson good enough? I dunno.
But its really just the OLine thats the glaring problem now. That can be fixed in one year.w

well edwards was very promising today. i’m hoping he can take at least the left guard spot and make it his own. he’s 22 and raw. but lots of potential supposedly. i don’t know what they do about left tackle though. maybe edwards is the eventual left tackle? i thought it’s be noteboom. not so sure now. but maybe he’s a better tackle than a guard. either way he’s fighting a battle to get his knee right.

The way I see it. Noteboom and Edwards are the eventual tackles. That depends on NB’s recovery. Allen is set at center. They have candidates at guard but we don’t know about them yet (in terms of redshirting as a rookie and emerging in year 2, the Rams keep doing that at several positions).
This OL will develop…and for those who say the ATL DL was no test, it’s the opposite with the SF DL, which is one of the 2-3 best in the league.

October 20, 2019 at 8:11 pm #107024Billy_TParticipantYeah, I think if you make the investment in Peters the Rams made . . . the trade for picks, etc . . . then you do what is necessary to help him be successful.
They should have known, going in, that he’s not a shutdown corner. He’s a ball-hawk, with great skills in that arena. But in order for that to work, you have to have back-end coverage of an exceptional (and coordinated) nature. You have to make sure safeties literally have his back when he gambles. The Rams, all too often, seemed to forget all about that . . . perhaps the most glaring example was the Saints game last year.
What does make me feel better, though, is the news that they at least tried to get top value for him in a trade.
Report: Rams offered Marcus Peters to Browns for OL Joel Bitonio
Bitonio would have helped the Rams a ton. At 28, in his prime, and plenty experienced, Bitonio could have been a key linemen for at least another three years or so.
Only saw highlights, but Ramsey seemed to make a seriously positive impact today.

i’m assuming brian allen makes it as center. i think knowing the line calls and being smart are more important than anything else. and i think he should have that down.
i’ll assume left guard is edwards.
and then either noteboom, hav, or evans takes the right tackle spot. so that leaves left tackle and right guard.
right guard should be the easier of the two to fill. but left tackle. that’s not an easy position to fill. and are usually filled with elite athletes. that’s not going to be easy. shoot. he might not even be on this team right now. which is scary.
