Colin Kaepernick Trade Rumors: Latest Buzz, Speculation Surrounding 49ers QB

49ers Reportedly Put Kaepernick on Trading Block
Sunday, March 8
Jayson Braddock of SportsTalk 790 in Houston reported that the 49ers are looking to deal the 27-year-old quarterback. The Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears are two teams believed to be interested, per Braddock.
49ers GM Trent Baalke released a brief statement denying that the team is shopping Kapernick, per Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com: “Colin is our quarterback and we are excited to have him. He is not going anywhere. The media reports suggesting otherwise are without merit and, quite frankly, ridiculous.”
On one hand, it’s a bit surprising that San Francisco would so quickly sour on a player whom it signed to a six-year extension worth more than $110 million last June.
On the other, Jim Harbaugh is no longer the head coach, and Kaepernick’s numbers haven’t exactly seen a demonstrable jump over the past three years. His 2014 quarterback rating was 86.4, down from 91.6 in 2013.
Still, many will likely remain skeptical that Kaepernick will be moved until he’s actually traded. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah doesn’t think the Niners have a wealth of other options in the event they deal their starting QB:
Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson doesn’t see the financial details working out, either:

If Colin Kaepernick is on the trading block, #49ers would take a $9,863,012 cap hit on the remainder of his signing bonus. This seems wild.

Should Kaepernick get moved before the 2015 season, it would be the most shocking development in an offseason already full of major transactions.
