Sean McVay: Sebastian Joseph-Day re-aggravated his pec injury in yesterday’s practice and will need surgery (will happen next couple of days). He will be out in the immediate future but unsure if it will be season-ending.

    1) This sucks for Bash, he’s in a contract year. Feel awful for him
    2) Rams will be just fine. Gaines/A’Shawn/Hoecht/Brown is a good rotation
    3) Isn’t this the same injury that Justin Hollins suffered? Bummer

I have my doubts. I think Gaines has made great progress and I like him. He seems like an immovable object at times. I don’t think that he is as disruptive as Joseph-Day, though. A’Shawn has been a disappointment to me, although I thought that he looked ok vs. Houston. Hoecht seems like a serviceable player for an UDFA, and I don’t know what the Rams have in Brown yet, although I liked where the Rams got him the draft. Anyway, I think that the Rams will feel the absence of J-D.

The Titans OL will offer a much bigger challenge than the Texans beat-up OL did. But he’s off to a good start anyway.

Stuff that has been posted but could be useful all in one place:

the Rams pressured Davis Mills TWENTY SIX times

Seven different players had at least two pressures, led by Greg Gaines’ six (per PFF

Rams DT Greg Gaines — who saw increased playing time with Sebastian Joseph-Day out — had the highest pass rush win rate at defensive tackle in Week 8, through the 4 p.m. window.

Greg Gaines had a half-sack while stepping into a larger role with Sebastian Joseph-Day out with a pectoral injury, and Gaines and A’Shawn Robinson had four tackles apiece which led the defensive linemen.
