As a child I loved the Christoper Reeve’s “Superman” and I enjoyed the first two Spider-Man’s with Toby Maguire. I have several friends who love superhero movies. The genre ran its course for me a long time ago.

I loved the Christopher Nolan “Batman” franchise and the first “Iron Man” and even the Tim Burton “Batman” was cool when it was released.

But I’m burned out on superhero films. I still see them(I saw “Justice League” and “Wonder Woman”) but they all start to look alike after awhile.

I’m enjoying certain television films or series better. “Babylon Berlin” was excellent on Netflix. I haven’t seen a film that good in years.

It feels like I go to fewer films each year. I watch more classics on television.

Last year the films I liked the most were “Wind River” and oddly “Mother!” and I saw both of them at home. I look for films to get excited about but I just can’t find them. I’ll settle on a film here or there just to see a movie but I don’t get excited about many.

I don’t know why you would go to Justice League. Both Thor and Black Panther are way, way better than that stuff. (I liked Wonder Woman.) You may not be burned out of superhero movies…just DC movies.

I have the same experience. I kinda scour the inter-netz every couple weeks or so for quirky-good films, but ya know, its mainly SOSAFs.

Btw, i usually enjoy the director’s commentary more than the movies these days. I dunno what that means.

PS – I saw ‘Naked Lunch’ the other day. I was impressed with the special effects and weird-jazzy-moodiness of the film:

That Wonder Woman movie was real good.

How do you feel about monster movies? Godzilla 2 is supposed to come out next year.

I think I agree with that.

But that may just be a statement of preference.

After all, I’m sure that people have complained about crap films since the film was invented. There has always been shit.

And. Some movies have better character development than others. In spite of genre.
