WELL IT’S GOTTA BE SOMEONE NOW THAT DALLAS HAS 9 WINS“I love it when nobody says you have a chance to win. There is an 11-3 team and a team that is always 8-8. You figure it out.”
— Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, taking a shot at both the ‘always 8-8’ St. Louis Rams and odds makers who installed the Cardinals as 5-point underdogs in their 12-6 victory last night. (Pro Football Talk)
…
“Fuck no, I do not care. Because I know I’m not doing anything wrong. They don’t know what’s going on. I can’t care less. They ain’t on no sidelines. Nobody’s on the sidelines with us. The only thing they’re waiting for us to do is take an ‘L’ so they can talk a bunch of shit about us. ‘Oh, the same old Cowboys in December.’ C’mon, man. Ain’t none of that. We’re going to take advantage of what we need to take advantage of. I don’t give a damn who films it. That’s the truth. That’s the truth. That’s how I feel. As long as we get the ‘W,’ that’s the only thing that matters. Put that shit down.”
— Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, when asked whether or not he cares what people think about him screaming on the sidelines. (Dallas Morning News)
CLOWNEY SACKED FOR GOOD?
“He’s screwed. His game is all about explosion. That’s a problem. I’m out there dancing. I’m an offensive lineman. That’s a different ballgame. He’s screwed. I’m just being honest.”
— Indianapolis Colts right tackle Gosder Cherilus, saying that Houston Texans defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is ‘screwed’ after it was revealed that Clowney needed microfracture surgery on his knee, a procedure Cherilus himself underwent. (Indianapolis Star)
THAT’S A HATCHET JOB IF I’VE EVER SEEN ONE
“Why does Jim Haslett still have his job as defensive coordinator after five years of ineptitude at the defensive coordinator position? He is clueless as a defensive coordinator. He lacks attention to detail. He lacks feel on how to call a game. Some of the calls he used to call when I was playing were head scratching. They were so bad I used to change them — ‘We’re not running that.’ And we’d get off the field and he would ask, ‘Why did you change the call?’ ‘Because that’s just a dumb call. That’s why I changed it.’
“For years he has always made excuses. One minute it was ‘We’re changing from the 3-4 and we don’t have the right personnel.’ Next minute it is salary cap. Next minute it is Mike Shanahan. Next minute it is injuries. Mike Shanahan recognized early that this guy does not know what he is doing. And he tried to help him out… And what does Jim Haslett do? He threw [Shanahan] under the bus just like he throws everybody under the bus, players and coaches included. He is a guy that does not know what he is doing.”
— Former Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher, on current Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett.

by atworkforu :: Sun, 12/14/2014 – 8:20amI’ve had it. Basically they take the world’s smallest jackhammer to your knee, because filling it with scar tissue is better then what you have going on now. It’s not so much that the surgery is damaging or hard to recover from, but the fact that that sounds like a good idea says something about the condition of your knee.
I hate to say it because I find the idea of pairing Clowney with Watt hilarious, but I’m not bullish on him at the moment. It seems like a lot of what he does is based on blinding speed and animal athleticism… and microfracture means that we are not likely to see that at the NFL level. I don’t know if he can play with the moves and leverage at the superstar level we are hoping for. I doubt he runs a 4.5 again, or plays like somebody who runs a 4.5 again.
If you microfractured Watt, you would still have a solid DPOY candidate. He might batt 20% fewer balls. Maybe 1-2 sacks would elude him. He probably would have gotten caught on that long pick6 he had. The gimmick TE plays might go away. The leverage, the power moves inside, the finding the ball vs the run… all that would be the same. Clowney… we’ll see. I don’t think he’s lazy or all that other nonsense that get’s peddled. But he was sold as #1 overall as an amazing athlete, and based on history and my experience he’s unlikely to live up to that, unfortunately.

Why not let’s see the rehab?
AP was supposed to be “done”… and he went out and dropped 2k on the NFL.
Some guys surprise out of rehab. These guys are special athletes.
