Other injury updates from Sean McVay 🧵:

    – TE Terrance Ferguson (groin), ILB Nate Landman (calf) and CB Emmanuel Forbes (calf) are all day-to-day
    – DL Kobie Turner (back) still week-to-week
    – OL Kevin Dotson got a chest contusion in joint practice, “We’re just being smart”
    – DL Poona Ford had soreness in his groin which kept him out of practice today
    – CB Ahkello Witherspoon also was held out of practice but McVay didn’t specify the injury area

Some of those absences were simply because the Rams “erred on the side of caution,” McVay said

Injury Updates: QB Matthew Stafford’s (back) workout plan, RB Ronnie Rivers (ribs) and TE Anthony Torres (ankle) ‘out for a little bit of time,’ WR Konata Mumpfield (ankle) cleared

After the Rams’ 31-21 victory over the Cowboys to open the preseason, head coach Sean McVay updated local media on the team’s injuries.

Running back Ronnie Rivers (ribs) and tight end Anthony Torres (ankle) will both be “out for a little bit of time,” after sustaining injuries on Saturday. Meanwhile, seventh-round rookie wide receiver Konata Mumpfield, who left with an ankle injury late in the game, was cleared.

“He came in (this morning), was a little sore, but he’s not going to miss any time,” McVay said of Mumpfield. “And so that’s a positive and I was glad for him.”

After the game, McVay reported that quarterback Matthew Stafford would return to individual workouts on Monday. Stafford took part in a successful throwing workout prior to Saturday’s game, in which McVay said he “looked good” and had no limitations on the types of passes he distributed. He threw over 60 times.

On Sunday, McVay said that Stafford will do some a similar workout Monday and could possibly “ramp it up a little bit more.” He added that Stafford’s return to team drills will be based on how his individual workouts go, but they will explore that possibility this week.

“I think we’re going to take it a day at a time,” McVay said. “We have kind of those loose plans like we talked about, but I think we want to just be able to clear each hurdle and make sure we’re taking the appropriate steps. So I thought yesterday was a great step in the right direction.”
