Caught up with Cooper Kupp this morning on behalf of Pataday and among a few noteworthy items, he said that over the 2021 season he saw Sean McVay step into an entire new zone as a collaborator. “We’ve talked about it for years now, but his willingness to listen to the comforts,
    .
the discomforts of things with Matthew, with myself, with the receivers as a whole, with offensive linemen – he just wanted to put guys in positions to be successful and that just grew, that trust continued to grow over the season as well and we were able to make plays and do
    .
things. I think he just did an unbelievable job. He’s one of the smartest offensive-minded coaches I’ve ever seen. And for him to just put us in those positions over and over again, in those great spots where you’re set up to win, is a huge testament to him…He did do a great
    .
job of being able to play to *our* strengths and hear what our strengths are, things we were comfortable doing and then allowing guys to just kind of come to life.”

if the rams can keep their egos in check.  and if they can have luck with injuries.

this team could do some good things the next three years.

I was thinking about the way McV berated Goff in 2021 and messed with his confidence. McV seemed to be aware of this after the trade and confessed that he had issues communicating. When they traded for Stafford I said one of the advantages of having a great veteran qb was that McV would be more collaborative and listen better. McV showed signs of going that direction when he lamented that he wasn’t the best communicator in 2021 and seemed to actually regret it. As it turns out as Kupp’s remarks above indicate, McV really did become more collaborative. I think it was a combo of having a veteran qb he would be stupid not to listen to, and at the same time McV kind of lamenting the way he was in 2021 and knowing he had to change.

I don’t know how much of that I got right, but, still, it was nice to read Kupp and see I wasn’t hallucinating all of that.

Jordan R is awfully good at her job.

High praise from Kupp.  Thats not just ordinary sports-BS and cliches he’s giving.   That mcvay-trait Kupp is describing was critical last year.
