Goff to Woods. Steady as she goes.
Philips gets his defense going.

Fucking Rams with 9 fucking wins!
Fuckin’ aye!
July 15, 2017 at 9:36 pm #71003nittany ramModerator9 wins? 10 wins?
I’m sorry. I thought this was a prediction thread for RAMS FANS.
12 – 4, baby. And they’ll make it look easy.
9 wins?
Please.
I’m just glad Coy Bacon isn’t alive to see that.
<actually 9 wins sounds about right>
July 15, 2017 at 9:41 pm #71005JackPMillerParticipantMine will come later. It will come when I do my whole NFL thing. I’ll be posting it on my facebook fan page, “I’m a Rams fan no matter where they play at”, which is on facebook. I need someone to help me run that site. Then I’ll post here in mid-August.
July 17, 2017 at 6:26 pm #71054TSRFParticipant4-12, and sorry, it will be my fault. Whenever I start paying attention to one of my teams, they start to lose. Did it to the NY Rangers when they got into the playoffs, just started paying attention to the Yankees, and look at that swoon. Football has always been my favorite, and I’m going to be focused ion it starting day 1, so… 4-12, best case.
July 18, 2017 at 6:46 am #71065PA RamParticipantI believe it was the ESPN writer who posted something about the Rams power ranking over the next couple of years being around 28 according to NFL types. The main concern is the offensive line.
I have a lot of questions about the team. Do they really have the right wide receivers to help Goff? Will Goff take a big step forward? What’s up with Gurley? Will the change to 3-4 help or hurt the defense? What about this young whippersnapper head coach? Does he have the right stuff?
Friends keep asking me what I think about the Rams and frankly, I admit I have no idea.
This team is the mystery item beneath the cover.
Who knows?
Having said all of that I’m playing it safe and going with 8-8 the first year under the kid.
I hope to see good signs. I hope for some excitement.
But yes–8-8. They have to get through the Fisher hangover season.

July 24, 2017 at 2:29 pm #71216ZooeyModeratorI will go with 9-6-1.
I think the D will be fine. Phillips just has a good track record in his first year with a defense. I think he knows what he is doing, has experience implementing a new system, and a lot of talent to work with.
The offense is upgraded, and perhaps better suited to Goff. I’m concerned that being a first time head coach AND playcaller is too much to deal with in McVay’s first year as head coach. And I’m concerned with the use of Austin. But I think this is still an upgrade because Boras was terrible, and Gurley’s head was somewhere else, and there has been improvement on the OL.
This could be make or break years for Gurley and Austin. I think Gurley is going to come back with better focus, but last year’s inability to hit a hole – ever! – is a concern. I can’t explain it. I mean on raw talent and luck he should have been more productive. But I think he will study harder, and practice harder this year. Austin…I dunno. He’s a swiss army knife, not a sword. I hope they don’t just line him up outside all the time. If they do, Kupp is going to take his job.
Goff should be okay. He has a lot to learn, but he seems confident. That’s good. And he has the tools. With reliable protection, and WR who can run routes, I think he will improve. He kind of reminds me of Montana, actually. Doesn’t appear to be very bright, but knows how to throw the ball to the right guy, and doesn’t know what “fear” means. Not in a Favre way. In a Montana way. Kind of just without fear of failure, or fear of getting hit. Just like a video game.

I dont think McVay is going to try to use tavon as a regular WR. I know McV has said he wants tavon to threaten teams with deep routes, but i think he just means he wants to threaten teams with deep routes SOMETIMES. Ya know. Now and then.
I think he’ll use Tavon a lot like Fisher did, to be honest. Tavon just has to hold on to the ball and not make plays while other Rams are getting penalized.
