1. Playoffs not a chance, that puts a damper on everything
2. Yeah, playoffs missed, but I still like watching the wins
3. Fisher screwed up
4. Man they are going to be something sooner rather than later
Lots of other possibilities.
November 21, 2014 at 12:13 am #12270canadaramParticipantBeing a Rams fan all these years has taught me how to be the second option. However, over the last couple of seasons there has also been a solid sprinkling of number four every now and then.
November 21, 2014 at 10:34 am #12280TSRFParticipantI’m looking at the rest of this year as the prep year for our break out season.
Next year, we get the NFC North and the AFC North. We get the NFC South equal rank ( Probably TB) on the road and the NFC East equal rank (NY or Washington) at home.
SF may be a mess if they have a new HC. Will be interesting to see how the Lynch situation plays out in Seattle. Az may need a new QB, or they will have a old, slow Palmer again.
I hate to say “wait till next year” again, but things may really fall in place for us next year. Of course, they can always screw us with the schedule (how about having a home divisional game on the last game of the year for a change?), but the Rams can be a force next year.
November 21, 2014 at 10:47 am #12281WinnbradParticipantSlowly but surely, this team keeps getting better, adding talent, and depth.
Now if we could just settle the QB situation.
November 21, 2014 at 11:08 am #12282JackPMillerParticipantI like 3. Fisher screwed up. That is all. He is the Head Coach.
November 21, 2014 at 1:26 pm #12294joemadParticipant# 2 and # 3.
Fisher stuck with Austin Davis too long.
November 21, 2014 at 2:33 pm #12305DakParticipant2, 3 and 4.
I think they’ve turned a corner. Even if the Rams had to go with Bradford and Hill again next year, this team should have the talent and depth to compete … especially if they’re in the same defensive and offensive system another year. There’s a lot to say for consistency in the NFL. If you can get a good system and stick with it, you can interchange some of the players and be competitive year in, year out.
I know people are going to want to draft a QB in the 1st round next year no matter what, but I think this franchise is to a point where they just need to go BPA and build. I’d rather see a rookie QB with promise in the middle rounds, who wouldn’t be expected to start right away, because I think a cagy veteran is the better bet with this team.
November 21, 2014 at 6:56 pm #12323rflParticipant1-3 for sure.
4? Hmmm. There are signs … both ways.
We need a QB. But more than that, we need the coaching staff to somehow get the team over the hump mentally and in terms of discipline and execution.
Even with everything that has happened …
A DISCIPLINED Ram team this year would be at least 5-5 right now, probably 6-4.
The coaches have got to do a better job getting us ready for competition.
By virtue of the absurd ...

I agree, and they seem to be addressing that.
Here;s GW from today’s press conference transcripts:
WILLIAMS: They’re starting to now to be a lot less worried about what we’re doing and they’re spending more time on what the opponents’ doing or what the [opponent’s] concept’s built to do.To me, this is circumstantial. You take a young team, particularly with a young secondary. Young players learn new systems more slowly, in general. Plus, now, more than ever before, there’s less time to install things in the off-season. The new CBA saw to that.
So I get the impression they’ve only been reinforcing this “prepare for the other team “stuff for about a month now. Before that, according to an interview with TJ McDonald, coaches were having extra meetings fixing things in terms of their knowledge of their own system.
Maybe other coaches coulda done this all more quickly, but I get the impression these old guys were used to the older practice regimen in the off-season, the one the new CBA cut back.
November 22, 2014 at 8:56 am #12329HighPlainsDrifterParticipantI went into the season with higher expectations and hopes, but Bradford’s preseason injury quickly tempered those. After week three, I had almost no expectations that the Rams would be a team that anyone was talking about (yet again). After ten games, I have to admit that I am somewhat content with what I am seeing out the Rams. There are obviously aspects of the product on the field that offer encouragement for next season. The defensive turnaround has been almost as mystifying as its ineptitude early on, but certainly a welcome development. I think for the Rams to take the next step, either the defense has to become a “lights out” unit, or the quarterback situation must come to a conclusion that offers a more diverse set of options offensively. Winning at a high level with a game managing quarterback almost requires a near-historically dominant defense. I’d really like to see the almost never-ending revolving door on the offensive line come to an end. Seems the O-line is going to undergo yet another significant transformation in the off season. They really need to enter into an era of stability on the line. Who, outside of Greg Robinson, can we point to as a piece of a longer term puzzle at the position? There might be someone on the roster, but I don’t think there are much in the way of real strong possibilities. Although it seems that there are numerous questions, this team at the very least has offered up some real reason to embrace optimism. I hate seeing another season go by in which the Rams aren’t real contenders. I’m not getting any younger. But seeing a light at the end of the tunnel is refreshing and different. I’m looking forward to seeing how they finish out the season.
November 22, 2014 at 10:43 am #12344ZooeyModeratorI just take the season one game at a time. You can’t live in the past, and you can’t worry about the future. Just give 110% each and every week and leave it all out on the sofa.

Yes but our problems with you stem pretty much from your notorious off-the-coach scandals.

I’m getting mixed messages.
I thought you said the problem was that I was ON the coach.
November 22, 2014 at 3:32 pm #12352wvParticipantI wanna see how they play in San Diego
before i say anything. Are they gonna go back to being
the ‘bad rams’ or can they
put it together two games in a row
against two winning-teams?We’ve been waiting a decade
to see them win two in a row
against winning-teams.w
vNovember 24, 2014 at 12:24 pm #12433c1ramParticipantWithout a 1st String QB there is no real chance, esp. in the West. So I guess I’m pissed off at that damn anterior cruciate ligament screwed up more than anyone.
November 24, 2014 at 12:49 pm #12439GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantLooks to me like we have a solid defense again. But linebacker play needs to improve.
And looks like the offense is there if we have a good trigger man at quarterback. I think this team is really close to being a playoff team.

November 24, 2014 at 12:50 pm #12440GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantBTW, we need to stick with coach Fisher. The team is getting there slowly but it is getting there.

November 24, 2014 at 4:16 pm #12457sdramParticipantI’m disappointed that they’re not good enough to contend for a playoff spot but happy they look like they can compete against any team in the NFL.
I wonder how much better they might be right now with a healthy Sam Bradford. And, I’m hopeful that the almost comeback against San Diego is a sign of things to come. I feel that they need to get better under pressure and feel that’s one of the things Bradford had improved at oh, those many games ago.
November 24, 2014 at 4:49 pm #12459GreatRamNTheSkyParticipantAs much as it pains me to say this, knowing how iffy Bradford has been, I think the Rams should hold onto him but at a reduced salary. Tell him he can compete for the starting job but its not his job, he has to earn it. Then we should draft a Hundley or Petty etc. and if we can sign a good veteran. I don’t think Shaun Hill is the answer at QB.
If Fitzpatrick is available I would take him over Shaun Hill.Grits
