Howdy Folks! Hot and humid today. Rams came out and spent about 20 min stretching, then they all went to different areas in their groups, LB’s on field 2 north end, DB’s field 2 south end . DL field one north end.We had OL.

Kromer and his assistants were doing a lot of teaching. Looked like they worked on technique, hand placement, footwork, etc. Wished I could hear. Guys were going one on one with each other at a whistle while the rest watched. Nothing really stood out, but nice to see hands on teaching. TE’s joined the OL and they all worked on blocking.

They spent a good part of practice 11 on 11. A lot of short passes and running plays. they rotated players. Offense 1’s vs Defense 2’s, O 2’s vs D1’s. O 2’s vs D1’s. 1st offense seemed to take the majority of snaps. Only players that didn’t dress, Barron and Easley, who they had on the sideline hooked to a rubber bunji dragging an assistant back and forth for most of the practice. Mannion was back with the 2’s DWilliams with the 2’s.

Other than the starting OL of Whit, Saffold, Sully, Brown and Havenstien, they mixed and substituted a lot on both sides of the ball.. Lucas, DWilliams and NoteBoom took snaps at LT. Demby Noteboom and Neary took snap at LG. Blythe, Allen and Eldrencamp took snaps at C. Demby, Kolone and Neary took snaps at RG. DWilliams, Lucas and Noteboom took snaps at RT. Looks to me like Kromer was trying backups at a lot of different spots.

They worked on 2 minute drill about 20 minutes, 1st and 2nd teams got drives with good results. Goff looks sharp. Mannion moved the ball, Hit Cooper and Hemingway and Reynolds. A lot of TE ands RB targets. Greg the Leg shows no sign of having been on IR. He kept putting the ball right between the uprights and hit one over 63. that was with the D rushing.

After 1st 11 on 11 session we watched OL again. New drill. 5 OL, vs 1 DL 1st team OL and DL rotates guys against a different O lineman every snap. Whit, Saffold, Sully, Brown and Hav got a workout! First up DL participating: Bryant, Smart, Franklin-Myers, Young, Lawler, and some others I couldn’t see their # (they have their jersies rolled up). Sully would snap and take on a rush, next DL up would line up against Saffold and he would take the rush, and on and on. Guys that stood out were Franklin-Myers and Lawler. Most of them got stood up, But Myers got by Sully and Brown ands gave Whit all he could handle. Myers is Quick and strong.

2nd 11 on 11. More of the same, very intense, some good htting, DB’s and WR’s really trying to outdo each other. Great competition

Some observations VRF thought I should include that I missed: Mannion to Everett twice, Higbee 2x for Goff over the middle in traffic. Cooks delay crossing pattern from Goff. Gurley big yds on sweeps.

I really haven’t seen enough to make any kind of prediction or formulate an opinion on who is ahead of who. Just too early to make any determinations.

All in all, a very good high energy practice.

We’ll be back out there tomorrow.

Hi RAM Nation…. It was a nice warm day about 88degrees… had a nice little breeze today…

I was paying more attention to the O-line….
The ones O vs the twos D, then vice versa for the 2nd unit….

The starting O-line looks really good and in sync….. Brown’s two game suspension might put this team out of sync a little bit… but most likely Austin Blythe will be starting there until Brown gets back…
But from what I can see,,, when Brown gets back,,,, he will be starting again….

Both Noteboom and Demby are two small in the upper body IMO… I believe they need at least a couple of years in the weight training room to get stronger on their upper body….

They seem to have the technique down…. But against NFL starters… could be a different story especially against strong bull rushers……..
Noteboom was playing RT and Demby RG and LT…

Cornelius Lucas was playing on the second unit LT and some RT…. So far he looks better than last year…
I have a feeling Lucas will be kept until both Noteboom and Demby build up strength… so I can see the RAMs keeping ten linemen on the 53 man roster…

Please forgive me but I’m doing this off of memory…. I took videos,,, but one problem, I can’t find the cable to download into my PC…

Gurley looks great,,, he took one to the house,, on a 80 yard run I believe it was 80…. He could of stopped the play, but he just kept running… Got the crowd going and cheering for him, just for the extra effort…

Goff looked sharp as usual, he hit Cooks on a crossing pattern, and Man, Cooks is fast… ran up the side line…. For about 30 yards total….

Then Goff hit Woods on a deep route…
Higbee, Kupp and Everett had receptions too…
Our starting unit offense looked sharp….

The RAMs were doing a two min drill… then came in The Leg…

Greg the Leg is back in form… he hit a 63 yarder with ease…
He was hitting it from I believe from 35 to 55 yardline and not a problem…

One player I notice was Justin Davis, He plans on making this team and getting playing time…
He is very shifty and hits the hole fast… and this was against the 1st unit Defense….

JF-M was playing the left DE/OLB position, and looked good…

Ok now for the bad news…

I didn’t notice TE Hemingway the whole day, until practice was over
He got on the jug machine, the kid cannot catch a cold if he tried really hard.
He has hands of stone…. He was dropping balls from the jug machine, gosh he looked pitiful…..

I can see Coach McVay asking Snead to get him a Vet TE once they make cuts in the league…

I’m upset, cause I wanted to review my videos I took on my pc so I can in-large it for viewing, so I can see what was happening on the 1st unit D side of the ball… Sorry folks

Two more outstanding reports! After the first week I went looking for fan reports from other teams first the NFC West then the Eagles and Vikings . You know what I couldn’t find one anywhere! I did find a couple of videos on Youtube . The one that I remember was of the 9ers and they were very leisurely at that particular practice . I have no idea why it is only Rams fans do it but it’s very cool. When you read the reporters reports there isn’t much difference.

    So Ram 8/2

Franklin-Myers is running with ones & Smart didn’t look too good. Got butt kicked in one play bad.

Lawler stands out. He is so long & tall.

    —-

Lawler looks good. Might beat OBo out anyway ?
Longacre has the number one spot though ?

The one player on defense that stood out yesterday was Ebukham Samson !! This guy is going to have a real good season.Last season when Wentz went down he was in in the play.

He has a very high motor.

    —-

The offensive linel. There was a lot of cross training which was really cool to see. Everyone has there main spots, but then It starts to change up. Preseason we will see that.
Noteboom stands out in size. Lucas more so in size, but will get cut. He has a tough time getting into his stance. Can not play guard. Williams played

    —-

Williams will beat Lucas out easy. It was good after that Williams got reps at RT & RG. He did ok. At RT he was off balance one time ,but no real pressure on the play.

On 11’s. They kept a good pace.It was fast enough in between starters on 2nd string.

That was a 2 minute drill. The 1st unit offense won the first 2 minute drill. The 2nd unit not so much.

Franklin Myers looks at least 290. I think a DT.

    —-

Damon Easley was working hard on the sideline with no jersey.

    —-

After practice, also reports McVay rides the bikes with both players as well. Just a good vib.

    —-

Well we have a wager. I’m coming away with Williams beating Lucas out. There is that chance he ends up on IR though. Looks like he is not 100% . He seemed to show a little leadership as well.

Did you see the 11 on 11 right around info desk. Mannion I think was QB ? The offense got called for a false start. I think they called it on Noteboom. Then he has to run off the field & a sub has to put his helmet on & fill in.Right after that Demby was horrible in his false start.

He runs off the field.(I yell come on rookies) McVay says come on pick it up, it’s starting to get sloppy.

    —-

About the false starts McVay & Kromer pull them out of series by replacing them.

McVay & Kromer do not stand for false starts. The rookies lost some reps, because they were not mentally there Notebooks was questionable. Demby was not good after the offense just had a false start.

    —-

Samson is a STUD , he shut the offense down a couple times. Playing super fast. Very high motor. I watched a couple replays.
He made a move & turned his head & the play went inside. Even though he was burned he was able breakup the play, or almost caused a fumble. Either way The Rams LBers are looking to cause turnovers.

Barry had them working hard at it. He said good job. NOW really hit down hard, but concentrate, be smart so we don’t hurt anyone here !!

    ==

Brandin Cooks is Freaking Awesome. McVay called a delayed pass ? I just know Cooks is a BLUR !! I’m trying to watch the O’line & next thing you know Cooks is running free for a huge gain or TD.
He had a couple catches were a defensive guy could have blasted him. The Rams have been so good at practicing hard, but do it responsibly .
McVay called one play & talked a little to defensive coach. Walked over to get a fist bump. Will see that play in season .

JoMike Thomas finished up the veterans practice with an excellent TD pass. Saw it on video about 5 times. His catch was in traffic. He found just that little soft spot in between like 4 defenders.
    —-

Malcom Brown is solid & a tough Hombre to bring down. He was getting a lot of reps in practice he has good hands as well.

Screw sorting the notes. I’m tired and want to get this out, so it will be kind of a jumble, but I’ll get it all out.

Upper 80’s and humid team came out late, McVay didn’t come out until 3:15. and team stretched, warmed up. OL on field on north end, DL south end. We are on field 2 where Fassell is working ST. They use a jugs machine to punt to Cooper,# 11 Hodge, 15 Kendal Thompson, 13 Fred Brown . This drill was all about D gunners. Fassel sent TE’s, safties, LB’s, DE’s after the returner. This was an intense drill and a lot of contact. Fun to watch!

Tip and strip drills by DB’s and LB’s. Lots of work on Int set up and return by DB’s. Peters, Hill, Shelds and Christian looked decent in the drill.

Had QB’s Allen and Perez with TE’s in front of us, short passes vs air.

This far into the practice the pace was slow. I attribute that to yesterday’s intense and lengthy 11 on 11 workout. But the pace picks up with the start of 11 on 11.

1st team O vs 2nd D. Reynolds drops 2 at the start but for the rest of the day I don’t think he dropped another one, and more than made up for a slow start by snagging some passes against some tight covering DBs

Goff To Woods for TD in tight coverage. Mannion with several good passes to Hemmingway.

1st team OL still Whit, Saf, Sully, Brown, Hav. 2nd OL kept being switched around, Kromer getting everyone snaps . Blythe, Noteboom, Lucas, and DWilliams got a lot of snaps. Allen and Eldrencamp and even Neary got snaps at C. Williams and Lucas got snaps at LT and RT. For 2 min drill, Lucas got snaps with 1st team at RT (Havenstien winded?) Demby got snaps at LG and RG. Really hard to see who’s in at times with the OL and especially the LB’s because they have their shirts rolled up so you can’t see their #’

Lots of good play in 11 on 11, Gurley is great of course. Brown Davis and Kelly all got in some good plays.

Player that stood out the most 11 on 11–Jared Goff. Goff was on fire today, throwing lasers in tight windows against very tight coverage. He made a few bad passes and had a couple dropped, but he had by far his best day of TC today.

Hemmingway had a pretty good day today, lots of targets and caught most of them.

Ryan Davis, the newest Ram signed a couple days ago, was playing inside LB next to Littleton with the 1st D, Myers @LDE and Ebukam @RDE. Wilson and Hager 2nd team ILB. Davis is a stud run stuffer at 265 and he’s quick. He stopped Gurley and Brown in their tracks for no gain. Keep your eye on this guy, he came in under the radar but might be that big bodied LB the Rams have been needing.

I know I haven’t given much on the d, only because I can’t tell who’s who with their shirts rolled up. I can say that 11 on 11’s are a toss up between the O and the D. With both making good plays.

FG drill. Greg the Leg hit some long ones but missed a couple also. Not as good a day as yesterday.

Justin Davis TD run in Red Zone drill. Goff to Cooks in RZ drill.

Good practice, lots of positives. Still a lot to be sorted out so far as backups.
Starting to see some guys getting more snaps than others. Pre-season games will be deciding factor for most of the bottom tier guys.

Sorry for the jumbled report, I got most of what I took notes on out there.

    NO INJURIES!

I was pleasantly surprised to see them in pads yet again, that’s 4 straight practices (though Tuesday was a day off).

It’s still amazing how far we’ve come in such a short time. The offense seems to be as for real as real can be. There was a stretch when the ball pretty much never hit the ground. They never seem confused, never line up wrong, the Oline mostly handled whatever Wade threw at them.

I know it’s only training camp but training camp sure didn’t look like this last year or the year before.

Let’s just hope this is for real and everyone stays healthy.

    bubbaramfan: some follow-up

The OL vs DL has been really fun to watch . Saffold and Sully double teaming Suh. Whitworth keeping Brockers at bay. Some good back up OL play from Noteboom, Lucas and Blythe. Rams OL is going to be dominant.

Warm day like usual …. 85 degrees with a slight breeze

Players not dressed: Lamarcus Joyner, Travin Howard (LB), Gerald Everett (no on field that I could see)

Difficult day to follow & evaluate the 11-on-11 scrimmaging. Many players were being moved in and out of each group of 1’s & 2’s, offense & defense. For example, on the first play of 11-on-11, Johnny Mundt lined up as FB with the second team offense, then lined up as an inline TE on the next play, then he was off the field with 3 or 4 other offensive players.

Practice started on the near field for me with Punt return. There would be 2 up field players (blockers) in line (horizontally)…. then when the ball is in the air the larger blocker moves laterially to line himself up with the punt returner in a vertical line upfield along with the smaller blocker doing same falling into the space equal distant between the 2 players. They are all in alignment verically as the returner catches the ball and starts upfield. The blockers then break off from the alignment to make their blocks. The returners were P. Cooper, MIke Thomas, Steven Mitchell, and Jojo Natson. Jojo would remind you of Tavon Austin ; small with quickness.

In other individual drill, the TE’s worked on blocking with the O-line, then broke off to take passes versus air. The took turns in sequence that I thought to be their spot on the depth chart ; HIgbee first, Hemingway second, Mundt third, Kreiger-Koble fourth, and Cody McElroy last. Should be noted that After Hemingway, Mundt seems to have run the best routes and have the best hands of all the other TE’s. He looks natural as opposed to McElroy, who is more long legged and seems to Lumber around.

In WR vs CB drills, Cooper Kupp beat Robey-Coleman 3 straight times for completions. Coleman looked frustrated after the third one. Reynolds schooled Sam Shields with a stop and pivot move . Shields was riding him with his body to the outside when Reynolds stopped on a dime, came up out of his crouch and cut inside while Shields kept moving to the outside. It was an OH WOW moment. Mike Thomas was looking smooth running his routes and catching the ball. He is looking more consistent then he has in the past.
Woods and Cooks were their usual….. unstoppable against the DB’s

After individual drills, the Offense worked on Reverses. The WR would come around the back side of the QB to receive the toss. Then they worked some Dbl reverse with the RB receiving a toss and then tossing it to the WR coming the opposite way. They ran one of these in 11-on-11 with Woods being faked the toss, then play action with Woods then catching a wheel route for a TD from 20 yards out.

During 11-on-11’s, for many plays, the second team offense had Noteboom (LOT), Demby (LG) and Brian Allen at Center. They seemed to hold their own when Brockers and Suh were on the field. Mannion made a couple of nice completions. He hit Reynolds on an 18 yard crossing pattern against the first team D.

Interesting note regarding 2nd team Defense ; on many plays, they had T. Young, DT Smart and DT Day with J. Lawler all down with their hands in the dirt and all within the OT’s. They had 2 LB’s with 5 DB’s. It must have an experiment with a 4-2-5 (Nickel)
On some plays, MIcah Kiser and Tegray Scales were playing MLB with the second team.

ON a play in 11-11, MIcah Kiser blitzed and blew up John Kelly trying to protect. The collision knocked Kelly’s helmet off. That was the play of the day for me.

After seeing 2 practices, the one thing that jumps out at me is how the first team Receivers are catching passes at a very high percentage rate. In individual and 7-on-7 drills, the CB’s can’t cover the Rams receivers. I don’t know what to think about that at this point.

From the two practices my son and i went to, Goff looked very sharp. Mannion inconsistent, Allen and Perez did not impress at all and i’m pulling for Perez for practice squad but he looks just to be a camp arm. Wouldnt surprise me if they look elsewhere.

just love what i’m hearing about goff so far. still only practice but still…

i liked bradford a lot. but i always thought he looked kind of robotic. not fluid. almost like he was thinking too much? i don’t know. but the way he saw the field. the way he would move in a pocket. it wasn’t as fluid as it could have been.

goff just seemed more fluid than bradford did at any point. maybe some of that is mcvay. but goff just looked like a natural out there last year.

and i expect his command of the offense to improve. i expect his pocket presence to improve. i expect him to get bigger and stronger. and his throws are beautiful.

again. maybe he takes a slight step back this year, but i think he eventually gets there. but i think he’s the second best rams qb of the last 20 years already… ok ok… i know that’s not saying much. but hey. it looks impressive when you write it down.

Second year in system. Second year with receivers. Age 23.

he is 23 and will be 23 when the season starts. he will turn 24 in october. 2018 will be his age 24 season.

it should also be noted that wentz is currently 25. he will turn 26 in december, and this will be his age 26 season.

so goff’s third season in the league will be at the same age as wentz was in his rookie season.

and he came from the air raid system whereas wentz came from a pro style offense. so it just goes to show how raw goff was coming in. how far he has come already. and how much more potential there might be still to tap. hopefully.

    Edited/expanded version:

    SoCalRam78

Goff is shredding it in camp

guy threading needles and calling own plays and hooking up all over the place with different receivers.

Second year in system. Second year with receivers. Age 23.

McVay is just feeding him growth at QB. Just look at Cousins.

The Great thing about Jared Goff is how level headed he is. Doesn’t get too high or too low. He can get flushed & then just lives for another play. The thing that is cool is if Goff gets flushed he keeps eyes open down field , but also mindset is not to force it.

He is so connected to Robert Woods it’s crazy. Goff would talk about things on routes with Woods keeping a good 30-60 seconds between routes.

Copper Kupp was last player on the field a couple days. Wonder if he is in trainers room trying to stay healthy?

Cooks is electric, but stayed after practice running routes with Goff. That big long hair blonde dude throwing snaps.

Last season I had Copper Kupp & Woods at certain points on fantasy. Woods was a numbers machine before getting hurt.

Gurley is already in the same page as well. Goff hit Gurley to end Thursday’s practice for a 2 point conversion to have the offense win the day !! Goff is hitting his spots.

The pass protection is spot on in timing. Putting the package together.

    The Rams in Baltimore

They gave up at least 3 sacks that I saw. Two were on Goff the other on Allen. The Ravens could not cover Kupp but handled everyone else pretty good

Goff did hit Kupp on back to back TDs but other than those two plays I’m not sure Sean is happy with what he saw today

Kelly looks good, Kizer looks like a Fletcher clone lol in terms of stature

Higbee and Hemingway certainly look the part. Higbee has great size and height. He was standing right in front of me and he’s a gifted athlete. He wasn’t playing much in the later session. Not sure if he got dinged

Man it was so uncomfortable out there today. Very humid …. these athletes are incredible for being able to work through that.

My son and I each got a Todd Gurley autograph and got a picture of him with son as well. He stayed in that heat and signed dozens of hats, and jerseys

I didnt get a chance to see th defense go against the Ravens as they were on the opposite side of the field.

I’m sorry I missed watching the defense. But we had a good seat in the shade and I didn’t want to lose it.

Good turnout of Ravens fans…. saw quite a few Ram fans too

Today was probably my last day at camp, might make it Wednesday but more likely i won’t.

Unlike previous practices, the offense didn’t win today. Though, as always, Goff, Woods and Cooks did a lot of quality business in the middle of the field. Still, it was tough sledding a lot of the time for the offense.

Goff and Mannion had all of the team reps until later in practice where Allen had a couple series with the 2’s. Mean anything? Who knows.

    A lot of 1 vs 1 today.

Davis is still ahead of Kelly on the depth chart. Brown is solidly #2 RB at this point. When Gurley is out but the 1s are in, Brown is the RB.

Noteboom got a fair amount of time with the 1’s at LT, so much so i thought Whitworth had the day off but Whit was in later.

Watched the QB’s warm up, then Fassel and ST on field 2. Cooper and JoJo Natson fielding punts and ST working on returns. We wanted to key on LB’s but its hard to tell them apart when they all have their jersies rolled up.

Practice pretty much followed the same routine. They seemed intense and McVay spent a lot of time with QB’s and recievers, both TE,RB and WR. A lot of instruction going on between snaps. McVay very animated.

Most of the starters didn’t do much, if anything at all. Brown and Havenstien got work, but Whit , Sully and Saffold were dressed but did nothing. Same on the DL Suh and Brockers dressed but did nothing. Noteboom, Lucas LT (mostly Noteboom), Blythe LG, Allen C Brown, Neary RG, Hav, DWilliams RT.

I met Mr. Westbrooks last season and had some short conversations. He remembered me from last camp and came over to say hello. I asked about the AD sitch, he just said that’s the business end and they are just getting ready to play ball. We both agree, with AD this DL is sick. Spoke with Dom Easley as he ran sprints (without the brace) and asked if he’s will be ready to go game one, gave me a wink and thumbs up. I yelled at Barron “you gonna lead the team in tackles again?” He gave us a big smile.

Aquib Talib was a full go in practice, picked off Mannion for a pick-six. Now don’t get your backs up on Mannion as he had a very good showing today. Granted he got the pick and he threw one into the ground, but he made some very good passes and did some scrambling and got the ball out on the run for completion.

11 on 11 was without Gurley. Goff, Woods, Cooks and Kupp all looked good. Higbee got a lot of work, went up over defender a couple time to use his height to snag a reception. Bout time!

I have to give Mannion another game or two before I lose confidence in him.

Short report, but I wanted to get something up on the board before dinner.

Good day of practice. Mid 80’s, not a very large crowd. Everyone in full pads, Longacre with LB’s limited participation. Barron and Easley on sidelines. Did not see Justin Davis on field.

Got LB’s in front of me. Joe Barry and his assistants had them doing strip drills, then tipped ball drill and return setup. Ryan Davis was with the LB’s. F-Meyers with the DE/DL. Hard to say any one player stood out in these drills.

McVay then did something I have not seen in camp until now. 2 minute drills with the whole team participating. No other drills going on. Players either participating or watching on the sideline. 1st team O vs 1st team D, then 2nd team D vs 2nd team O. This went real fast, no huddle,

1st team O- Whit, Saffold, Sully, Brown, Hav. Goff, Gurley(Brown), Woods Cook Kupp (Cooper couple snaps with ones). D–Suh, Brockers, Westbrooks DT, Myers, Ebukam DE Littleton, Wilson ILB, Talib Peters, Johnson III Joyner.

1st series–Goff to Cooks over middle for 7, Woods end around for 5, Talib int of Goff for pick six.

Quick sub 2nd teams O- Noteboom LT, Demby LG, Allen C, Blythe RG, DWilliams RT. (this would be switched around), the only guy that played the same position with the 2’s was Allen. Blythe got snaps at C later in Red Zone and 11 on 11 drills.

1st series 2’s on 2’s 2min– Mannion to Cooper,25yd TD Next series- Mannion to JoJo Natson for 11, Manion to Kelly out of the backfield for 8. Greg short FG.

Couple more series by both that had a lot of dropped passes and a couple sacks. Gurley, Brown and Kelly were often targeted on screens. Not many went to Higbee or Hemmingway in this drill. (Hemmingway had a bad day, dropped 5 or 6 that I saw during the whole practice)

After giving up early TD’s, defense won this drill,1’s and 2’s. 2’s did give up couple sacks.

Franklin-Meyers stood out. 2 sacks. Guy is quick and strong. Playing with the 1’s.

Red Zone drills now. Same as 2min drill, all players either involved or waiting on sideline to get involved.

1st team 3 plays and Zurilin FG. 2nd team Mannion to JoJo Natson again for TD This series Lucas at LT, DWilliams at RT, Demby RG, Allen C, Neary LG.

2nd series Goff to Kupp for 10, Goff int by Christian. (Christian almost had another on later)

2nd team Mannion to Hemmingway, Mannion to cooper, FG Zurlien

McVay then has the 1st vs 1st drill getting out deep in own end . Had the ball spotted on their own 2 or 3 yd line then hand of to Gurley with OL big epush into DL. This drill was the most physical I’ve seen all camp. You could hear the pad contact and hear the guys grunting. Both 1’s and 2’s di several series.

Next drill was punting from own endzone. Hekker crowded to the back of the endzone. Cooper back as PR. 1st play he barely gets it off, 2nd he hits one 60+, Cooper had to backpedal his ass off.

Pretty much it for the last full pads practice.

Other tidbits I saw today: Suh was a monster today, batting down passes, busting through the OL. Hemmingway with 2 catches over the middle from Mannion. But he also dropped some easy catches. Marquis Christian wa all over the field today a pick six, and broke up couple passes. Mannion putting the ball on the money.

Another odd thing today. McVay took the whole team off the field for a 15 minute break. Never did that before.

Well there it is. I tried to take notes seeing how this practice will be the last the public will be able to see. Tomorrow is an early walk through in shells.

    I’ll be there.

It was a really good TC.

Demoff might have got upset with me a bit. Said The Rams need a TE that can catch. Hemmingway way is dropping to many passes. Higbee dropped a tough catch, but was in his hands. Demoff is more pigeon toed than myself.Snead was around watching as well.

Marquiss Christian, was the defensive player in the 1st half. Had a nice INT & Tackle on 3rd Dwn.

Talib looks like he is playing hurt with his ankle.Fighting through it. Peters has small hands & jammed his finger trying to make pick he should of made.

Ejuan Price looks like he might make the team.

Fassel has small players in on punt coverage ,which I never noticed before ?

    OL notes

My take is John Sullivan played with a lot of nasty & confidence.

Whit & Goff talk a lot. All last season Goff would check in with Whit & Sullivan on the sideline.

Roger Saffold opened up a nice hole for a Gurley TD !! Was solid, but did give up a sack on a blitz.

Brown was running with the 1’s , but I’m making the CALL Noteboom will start at RG
    Game 1 !

Big Rob is getting more physical. Looked like he is starting to put it in another gear.

Noteboom was taking most of the LT Reps & Williams at RT. Noteboom at LT has been jumping way to many times.I think he starts at RG.He got a rep with the 1’s in place of Brown.

Lucas— did not get a lot of reps s today. I like his spirit, but I think he gets cut.

Williams- IMO – will make the 53 man roster. He does have a couple lapses, but has a good feel for the plays. He was getting both RT & LT Reps today. I’ve watched him a lot. My feel is The Rams have him making the team. I watched the Ravens game as well.He missed 2 blocks bad.—If I thought otherwise I would say it. I was going down that path from some reports. Now I don’t agree with them at all.

Demby got personal work with Kromer JR. He kept working on his form for 5 minutes with a drill of grabbing & moving a DLman(shadow drill of form) to open a whole. He wanted him to keep his hands in tight with power & hands. Demby got a lot of reps. Lg,LT.,RT,RG.

Allen is looking good He is a baller. He comes out & plays. RG & Center.

Austin Blythe goes unnoticed a lot. C & RG .

I’ll stop there, because those are the player I think make the squad.

    SOME FOLLOW-UP

Allen, Noteboom and Demby keep improving. Lucas and DWilliams need to step up if they want to make the team. My biggest knock on Williams is he gets beat and sometimes badly by speed rushers. Lucas at least gets hands on them.

I also think Blythe will be at LG in Browns place to open the season.

    SOME FOLLOW-UP

Whitworth is sonfreaking cool & such a Stud !! I saw someone saying Saffold was the best offensive lineman on The Rams last season. I say Whitworths value is unmeasurable for all he brings to the table . To think he is older than the head coach & McVay actually called(calls?) him coach. He is the glue & leader.

Sullivan has been with Whitworth from day 1 last season ,& Saffold filled into his position.
He has excelled, but early he sort of was an individual. Brown & Hav we’re changing positions & working things out. Just trying to find there way. Big Rob is a smart player. He really likes the game, & Brown came into the league with him as his roomie.

    This year.

Demby is still raw , but getting good reps.

Austin Blythe is smallish, but does a good job at Center. Allen is the future center though moving forward. He competes well.

Lucas I was thinking before yesterday was getting a lot of reps at LT ? I also think Williams at RT & Noteboom were the best 2nd line combo

I say Noteboom will start at RG day 1 because he was the only player yesterday to get reps with The Big 5 minus Brown for 1 series. He looks good there, but his real value is at LT.st year.

Kelly looks the part of a 3rd down/change of pace back. He caught some out of the backfield today. Davis pulled his hammy on Monday and was not on the field today. #25 Nick Hollie was getting reps with the ones. Expect to see both Kelly and Hollie on Saturday.

Any difference from last years camp? Maybe just a bit quicker tempo. Majority of the guys know what to expect and follow direction really well. The excitement of a new coach has worn off but the intensity he brings is still there, and boy does he bring it! An example is last Monday’s camp. It wasn’t mentioned but McVay was working strickly with the QB and WR. They would start at the 40 and run some passing routes then pull up stake and run down to the 10 and start over going the other direction. Then when that series was completed, run back to the 40 and go the other way again. Back and forth for about 15 minutes. He could of ran the same routes from anywhere on the field but chose to use field position as a teaching tool. That guy is like the Eveready Bunny. Keeps on going and going and going!

As far as players, better or noticeable. Cooks is the real deal, leaps and bounds ahead of Watkins. So glad we have him. Everyone looks a little better from last camp. No longer a new system to learn. Only the rookies have to rewire their brains. Having Talib and Peters in the backfield is going to be a fun thing to watch! The offense was my favorite group to watch on game day. Now it will be the defense. My God! Brokers, Donald and Suh!

This team is full of swagger and it’s a good swagger. Maybe we could call it confidence or familiarity, either way, it is a very good thing to have. You will see it come game day.

Got here early and had a chance to talk to a couple of players, Brian Allen exudes confidence and comes across to me as just what you want in a football player. Says he’s learning so much from coaches and veterans his head is spinning. Appreciates the chance they are giving him with the amount of reps he’s getting.

Spoke briefly with Westbrooks and Suh (Ethan has taken a liking to me, and makes a point to come over and say hi when he sees me, I have no idea why). I asked Suh how he likes not being the center of attention, gave me a big knuckle bump. I asked if they’d like to hear a Raider joke since they play them Saturday, “shoot” “”How do Raider fans teach their kids to count?” Oh and one, oh and two, oh and three….” Both got a big laugh.

Players in shorts and shells. McVay had them doing walk throughs. He had the defense wear jersey’s with Raider #’s. they ran though a lot of basic plays, with 1st and 2nd team alternating. McVay had the 1’s O vs the 1’s D, then the 2’s O vs the 2’sD. Goff was sharp and putting the ball in tight windows. Cooks, and Woods were also very good today.

TE still a concern. Hemingway best blocker and worst pass catcher. Higbee needs to try harder to get open and give Goff a Better target. Higbee had some drops, but he did go up and get a couple in the back of the end zone today with Talib and Christian all over him.

Mannion with the 2’s had a good day, especially with Pharoh Cooper. Mannion looked much better. We’ll see if he translates that to Raider game.

On defense, Suh is just having his way whenever he wants. Westbrooks, Franklin-Myers also having good camp. Franklin-Myers has been bringing the heat and giving Whit and Hav all they can handle all camp long. Westbrooks has been good all TC.

    Talib with another pick.

More walk through with 2’s, McVay stopping plays and making them go back in slo-mo to point out mistakes.

OL, nothing new, still sub-in guys all around, Neary was getting snaps at C. Noteboom snaps at LG and RG, Lucas and William at LT and RT. Since they weren’t in pad and not much contact, no way to say who was better.

Well that’s it for novice reporting. We have to rely on the expert talking heads from now on.

I enjoyed TC and I feel confident the Rams will have a winning season. TC this time around just seemed like they shifted into a higher gear. More focus and intensity. There was a feeling of “we need to get so much done in so little time” a sense of urgency. Even when players weren’t participating, they were paying attention. You can tell the players know this will be a good team and are working hard to make sure that happens.
