2017 Draft deep
link: http://lombardiave.com/2017/02/13/green-bay-packers-2017-draft-deep/
This is a good year to need a new cornerback, edge rusher, running back, and tight end. Unlike in recent years, this draft class is loaded with talent at all four positions. Ten corners make Daniel Jeremiah’s top 50 prospects, which is incredible. We may see players worthy of first-round selection fall into the second and even third round.

2017 NFL Draft: Grading each position group
http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2017/1/17/14287666/2017-nfl-draft-grading-each-position-group
Cornerback: A+
The 2017 class may not have a top-five overall corner, but is absolutely loaded with future stars. A many as ten corners go be taken in the first round, and possibly twenty-plus before Day 3. Size, speed, coverage ability and ball skills abound.Safety: A+
Another loaded position, at least three safeties should go in the first round. As many as five strong safeties could be chosen before Day 3, but what really makes this safety group special is excellent depth from top to bottom and an abundance of natural free safeties. Headed by Malik Hooker, 2017 includes more than a few centerfielder types, which has been an elusive position lately.—

1) Defensive backs
Both the safety and the cornerback class are incredibly deep this year.

Which position in 2017 NFL Draft is the deepest?
Daniel Jeremiah
Executive 2: Safety
“Overall, this is the best group of DBs we’ve had in several years. Specifically, I love the safety depth. I keep watching one good player after another.Executive 3: Cornerback
“This draft is loaded with corners. There are some elite guys at the top of the draft, but I think there are some excellent value guys in the middle rounds and a bunch of sleepers I really like on Day 3Executive 4: Cornerback
“I think it’s a very deep draft at several positions, but cornerback is the deepest…. I think we could see 20 of them go off the board in the top 100 picks.”Executive 5: Cornerback
“I love the corners in this draft. I think every team has them in a different order and I’m fascinated to see how they come off the board.”—
2017 Draft Defined By Depth

• The strength of the class is in the secondary and at running back. If you need a top-shelf defensive back, you can find one in April.
March 6, 2017 at 4:34 pm #65942InvaderRamModeratortoo many stars here. i feel overwhelmed having just watched that.

fabian moreau
marcus williamsthere are so many more. i’m missing some. it’s crazy. i don’t ever remember seeing a class like this. by far the strongest i would guess of any position. and the rams seriously need some dbacks.
March 6, 2017 at 6:49 pm #65948InvaderRamModeratorjohn johnson and josh jones. two other defensive backs who should be available past round 1. some of these guys are going to drop a round or two.

combine DB review
Just a note … a 4th round pick in this draft is a starter.
So, I just don’t know that I’ve seen a position group this good, even looking back in hindsight.
I came in wanting to shake out the top 10 CBs … and it honestly ended up making the entire top 20 more muddled than ever. I can figure who the top players to be drafted will be … but of the remaining in the 2nd and 3rd rounds … I have almost no way to distinguish between them. It will come down to scheme fits for Wade’s D … so if anyone has input on what types of CBs he likes I’m all ears.
1st round probables … maybe this will change, but I really doubt it.
The 3 safeties …
Then Lattimore, S Jones, Tankersly, Conley, Humphrey, and Adoree Jackson.I cut both Florida kids from the 1st and added Tankersly because of the 4.40 … can’t ignore a 98 mph fastball.
Helped themselves a lot?
King, Awuzie, Witherspoon, Langley, Shaq Griffin, and Moreau. Wow. They put on a SHOW. And of course Obi M may get a first round call now … I could add him to the above list easily …Who hurt themselves?
Rasul Douglas, Tabor, Wilson, Kazee, Corn Elder, and Howard Wilson … and only the last three were not in 1st round consideration. I still love Douglas and the last 3 still have great feet and can play football, so they didn’t hurt themselves THAT badly. So the second round pool got really deep with Sutton, Jourdan Lewis, and all the above names …
My guess is that guys like Awuzie, Moreau, Witherspoon, and King are now top 50 possibilities … along with Rasul Douglas, Tabor, Wilson, Tredavius White, etc. But any of those kids could easily slide to the third. Could Jourdan Lewis be had in the 4th? What about Sutton?
I have to run some simulations now to even get my bearings, but I feel GREAT about a CB anywhere from 37 to 90.
Lorenzo Jerome gave me a late birthday present by running slower than he plays … then showing me smooth movement skills. Im still a huge fan, I just think I can get him in the 5th or 6th now and walk away with a gifted football player.
The top 3 safeties should all go top 10.
This is all considering the fact that there are another 10 players or so who I thought should have been invited and weren’t … maybe more than ten.
