Perhaps my favorite play, was something that was not even mentioned on the broadcast. And it only showed up peripherally on the camera. It happened on the big Gurley TD catch. Anybody see it?

Yes, actually we mentioned it in the chat room during the live game. You can see it. It’s the receiver Reynolds getting in a Defcon 1 level block on Gurley’s run.

Snead/McV — have they made any personnel mistakes so far? Looks like they’ve hit several homeruns. Woods, Watkins, the LT, the Center. Critical additions.

vCritical additions.
The difference between the worst offense in the league, and 4-12, and a top offense contending for the division.
Plus I think it’s safe to say that McVay is better at offense than Boras.

McV is a hall of famer, Zooey. First ballot. He could kick Chuck Norris’ butt.

I won’t attach my emotions to a “Greatest Show On Turf” type run but this is a fun team to watch and certainly much improved on offense. The thing I am buying into first is the offensive line. I really believe these starters are rock solid. I believe that line is legit. I worry about the depth a bit but that starting line is legit.
Coaching. McVay is just doing an outstanding job. He brings so much energy. He reminds me of a young Dick Vermeil when he came to Philly–but I hope he doesn’t burn himself out. And it’s the position coaches too. Everyone is doing a great job.
I hope that Wade is starting to get the guys on track with the defense. Great second half performance.
Things I’m not one hundred percent sure about yet–but getting there:
Goff.
He has done an outstanding job. He’s doing what they need. But I don’t think he’s at a level where he can take over a game. Certain QBs can make a bad team decent. Rogers, Luck, Brady.
I’m pretty sure Goff can’t do that yet. He needs great receivers, solid running game and protection. A lot of Qbs could do very well in this offense right now. So I’m not ready to crown him elite yet–but that doesn’t matter. He’s playing great and using the weapons he has available. That’s good enough. And he hasn’t reached his ceiling yet. He’s still learning.
Gurley.
I know, I know. He looks fantastic right now. What more could you want? But we’ve seen this before. I just need to see it for several more games before I completely buy into the Todd Gurley resurgence. His use as a receiver is particularly impressive. He’s in a good offense and it suits him well. But he can be moody if things don’t go well–and who knows how one or two bad games might effect him? Still, I love what he’s doing. I just want to see more of it for awhile.
The defense.
It’s hardly where it needs to be–yet. I hope over the next four games we see things click and see that the Rams do not have to score 35 points a game to win. There is certainly talent on the roster. They just have to put it together for a whole game.
So….I’m thrilled with the Dallas victory.
2 road games, back to back. That’s special.
It’s fun to be a Rams fan again.
And with what’s going on in the world today I NEED this distraction. The Rams have made football fun this year.

October 3, 2017 at 2:32 pm #75433ZooeyModeratorThey ARE fun. For the first time in a decade, they are fun.
Real?
I hope so. I think so.
This Seattle game, man…
It’s a difference-maker.
If the Rams lose, they have the same record as the Seahawks who would be in first place by the head-to-head tiebreaker advantage. Rams in second place, basically…a game behind for practical purposes.
If the Rams win, they have a two game lead over the Seahawks AND the head-to-head tiebreaker…a three game lead, basically.
That’s quite a swing.

October 3, 2017 at 2:47 pm #75436wvParticipantAny injuries in that dallas game?
This is another reason McV is a genius — he doesn’t allow any injuries.

…as if we need any more incentive to root for the Rams.

vOctober 3, 2017 at 6:20 pm #75452InvaderRamModeratornot quite the gsot. this is a young group of skill position players. goff isn’t quite 23 yet. gurley is only 23. cooper kupp is older than both of them weirdly enough at 24. watkins is only a day older than cooper. everett is 23.
that gsot team was way more experienced. even warner had played a lot of football before he got his big break. torry and az were the two young guys, but they weren’t expected to do a lot that first year.
good thing though is this group had a little bit of time to grow and gel together. should be fun.

Re: Blinkscout Game 4 … Cowboys …
It’s been a long time, hasn’t it? I almost don’t know what to write when I don’t need optimism to get through a write-up.
Also, I watched on my phone and missed some plays … father duties and all.
The Great
1) Whitworth. Just going to go ahead and put him #1even though Gurley was amazing.
2) Half time adjustments … where have these been the last 10 years?
3) GZ … 7/7.
4) Gurley out of the backfield … I drafted him in every fantasy league because he was undervalued due to last year … 😉
5) Serious playoff hopes? I’d say so, for the first time in a long time.
The Good
6) Goff continuing to progress, spreading the ball around.
7) Trumaine on Dez. Not because he won every time, but because he consistently was in his grill, which always leads to Dez not being in the right spot or getting frustrated … which ends his game.
8) Brockers … this was already mentioned I believe on the board … but he’s manning the nose with a high level of play in what Im counting as a lot of snaps for that position.
9) Austin … all he needs is one less guy in the box, a little more of a passing threat … and he can hurt teams. Yes, he’s overpaid, but he’s likely going to be an asset this year.
10) WR Blocking. Our guys are drive regardless of catches. That makes me smile.
11) The timing of the plays seems tight.
The Bad
12) Webster’s drop.
13) The Holding call on Frederick (yes, I know). I wanted to beat them without that, but it’s nice to see one go our way for once.
14) Missing Higbee twice (especially the first one that could have been picked).
15) Want to see more of our young pass rushers … Ebukam and Price (Price may not have suited up).
16) Time out and challenge issues. He’ll learn I guess.
17) Getting run on. I’m not a fan of that.
18) Cody Davis. Let’s get Johnson up to speed sooner rather than later.
Expectations
19) I expect to see a lot of Everett, Higbee, and Kupp this coming week.
20) I expect the kitchen sink on defense against Seattle’s weak O line, with Barron or Tree spying on Wilson.
21) I expect to still score 24+.
22) I expect to stop their running game and break even in the passing game.
23) I expect to beat a reeling Seahawk team.
