What a play by Kam Curl. And now Stafford takes the field…

    Frank Schwab@YahooSchwab
It looked like the Rams were in trouble, the latest victim of the Bears’ magic this season. But after a Caleb Williams interception, Matthew Stafford got the Rams downfield for the FG and the win. Up next: Rams-Seahawks III.

    terrible game plan to enter…

    complete absence of adjustments…

you have the #1 rushing offense vs the #28 run defense of Chicago

    34 pass dropbacks
    10 RB runs

in a game you’ve led or tied for 44-of-45 mins

    Rams Bros.@RamsBrothers
Had doubts about this defense. Wasn’t sure they were truly Super Bowl caliber. Thought the pass rush is a player away and the secondary is so banged up.

But they came together tonight. And they just need to do it 2 more x.

Chris Shula and his boys just sent the Rams to the next round. Simple as that. That was probably the worst game/gameplan I can recall from McVay in a long time.

Who would’ve thought, the special teams and defense sent them there. Hats off to those guys.

Matthew Stafford is 4-1 in the Divisional Round or later in his career 🔥

Stafford HOF/MVP throw to HOF caliber WR Adams in biggest moment of the game. Just like it’s supposed to be. Players over plays.

    Love 🏈

Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams will 100% win a Super Bowl at some point. Incredibly talented team and they’re way ahead of schedule. But it’s Stafford’s time.

    Nate Atkins@NateAtkins_
Sean McVay said the weather hurt both teams’ ability to throw and catch today.

    Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
What could McVay possibly be telling the OL. Hey guys it’s 4 degrees outside. We can’t pass the ball but get ready to pass protect next drive.

    Sarah Barshop@sarahbarshop
From ESPN Research: With 3:40 to go in the third quarter, Matthew Stafford has 10 off-target passes, his most in 12 career postseason games.

    Mark Schlereth@markschlereth
Williams is averaging 5 yards per carry. RUN THE BALL MCVAY

Chicago outgained the Rams by 77 yards, 0.7 yards per play, 4 more sacks, and almost 7 more minutes of TOP

    They lost because of:
    3 turnovers
    3 of 6 on 4th down

Yeah, the 4th down stuff. I’ll bet Johnson wishes he had those 3 points from the opening drive. The Rams had some big 4th down stops.

On the other side, I think the Rams were 1/1 on 4th. Like last week, I was yelling at McVay to take the FG, and like last week, he ignored me and went for it. This time they converted, though, and the drive ended with a TD.

Asked Matthew Stafford about the throw he made to Davante Adams in OT (and Adams’ catch)…

You know, the Caleb miracle-play at the end of regulation is a perfect example of Caleb’s remarkable talent. And that play will get most of the media-attention. Incredible, showy, desperate, clutch, jaw-dropping play by the young running-QB.

But the pass to Davante was just as remarkable. Cool, icy, gutsy, laser-accurate, clutch, soul-stealing Stafford.

    Two very-different animals.

    Nate Atkins@NateAtkins_
Kam Curl saw the OT interception coming the moment the Bears lined up for that play, based on something the Rams identified and worked on this week.

    from Nate Atkins: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6981907/2026/01/18/rams-bears-score-result-takeaways-nfl-divisional-round/

The Rams put too much on Stafford, Nacua and Adams in the elements early. And they didn’t put it on them at all once the snow mostly cleared and the Bears were selling out to stop the run.

But, as he often does, Stafford pulled out something incredible when he had to in overtime. After Curl’s interception kept the game alive, Stafford ripped one of his best throws of the season at a sidearm angle as Adams dragged his toes to stay inbounds for a first down. Then Stafford hit the ol’ reliable Nacua to convert a third down into field goal range. And Mevis came through as the hero with the winning field goal.

Stafford led the NFL in touchdown passes on the No. 1 scoring offense while playing the league’s No. 1 strength of schedule. In the postseason, he’s led two winning drives in games that felt like they were slipping from the Rams’ grasp. He’s played his way to his assumed first MVP trophy, and though he was far from perfect at Soldier Field, he remains the biggest reason the Rams are one win from returning to the Super Bowl.writer
