The Rams calmly dismantled the Cards.

Yeah, the 33-0 victory in London seemed more lopsided than this game. “Calmly” is right.

    AZ net passing 83 yards
    net rushing 54 yards
137 total yards (Natson got 133 yards)
5 first downs the whole game, 3-12 on 3rd down.
Got passed he 50 on second to last play of the game.

All that with just one sack and one INT.

Gurley was low in yards, high in fantasy points.
Goff a quiet 350 yards passing.
Woods is a helluva a player. I think he might be my favorite Ram right now. He isn’t spectacular. Just gets it DONE.

A thoroughly satisfying game. We even saw a TE.

Bradford will always be one of them players there aint no consensus on.

But i think it would be unfair to judge any QB harshly who had to play the Rams D, on the road,
with that offense of the Cardinals. They may be the worst team in football. It was painful watching them, slowly, bumble around and wait to be knocked down.

So far we havent seen a collection of players and coaches who could solve the Ram defense. Its gonna take a really good OC, and a good OLine, and an topflight QB who can MOVE. And a couple of good weapons. I dunno how many teams have that. Otherwise, its gonna take the Rams just being flat. Which is bound to happen now and then.

offense did well. goff was sharp. or at least sharper than the week before.

    defense pitched a shutout.

and yet. i think they can play better. much better.

that’s a little weird to say. but i think it’s true. they haven’t played particularly strong teams. and when they go up against teams like the vikings, they will have to play a lot better than they have…

    but i think they will.

Yeah they can play much better i think.

We know they are really good. It only took two games, but we know that already.

But are they Vikings good. Eagles good. Bucs good. Etc.

Looks like they are but we gotz to see it on the field to know.

it’s way too early. i know.

but the rams are currently ranked

    #1 in points allowed.

    #5 in points scored.

    #1 in point differential.

but again they’ve played 2 weak teams. but they’ve also dealt with them about as well as one could expect. so they’re doing what they’re supposed to be doing at this point. we’ll find out if they have another gear in them still.

If the Browns had a field goal kicker they would be 2-0, but they they are 0-1-1. They gave the Saints a run for their money in New Orleans and tied the Steelers last week.

My reaction is that I am very pleased. I also realize that I’ve changed since the last time I had expectations of the Rams in early 2000s. Back then I’d find stuff that bothered me about the Rams performance even in victory. Now I’m just happy to watch or listen to the game and I’m grateful that they appear to be a legitimate threat for a playoff run.

Anyway, if I recall correctly the Cardinals didn’t cross midfield until the end of the 4th quarter. Not that anyone is going to confuse the 2018 Cardinals offense with the GSOT, but that’s some good defending by the Rams.

If we don’t improve, heads will be rolling. We need a spark. 7th offensively. Should be better than that. LOL

I have to say that Goff’s blown pass to Woods was mystifying. The play before that one, he threw about as pretty a pass as a QB can. A pass that had exactly the right trajectory to hit his receiver when he was very well covered.

The next play, Woods was completely uncovered in the end zone, and Goff botched it.

My reaction is pure joy. I’m all in sold on Goff. I think Donald said it best , paraphrasing of course he said they hadn’t really got going yet and when they do they’re going to be scary. That secondary already is! Talib, Peters, JJIII, Sam Shields, Christian and Robey-Coleman just freaking spectacular today.Cooks is so explosive, I really do like him in this offense way more than Watkins. He’s ballin on every play always where he’s supposed to be and never quits on routes. Woods and Kupp have different skill sets but they’re all at a higher level right now. They tried to take Gurley out of it and make Goff beat them and he went full shred on their asses.

I don’t really know what to think of the team right now. It’s tough because our only measurement is against two poor teams. The next two games, I feel, will help to further define who they really are.

This might seem crazy to say about two blowout wins but…the games felt oddly closer than the final score indicated.

I hope they solve the slow offensive start.

I don’t know what the defense is doing but it feels like the defensive stars right now are in the secondary. The opposing QBs just aren’t seeing anything they like. So through fear of the pass rush and tough coverage, they are scheming quick throws. This allows the defenders to come up and make plays. And there isn’t a lot of home run plays. You can’t argue with the numbers. It seems to work. But they haven’t played an elite level QB yet. They will this weekend. So we will see if this continues to work. The Rams may present a puzzle on defense that is very difficult to solve but teams will keep trying–and they won’t always do the same things. We will run into the team that insists on pounding the ball, the one that comes in and airs it out anyway, and we will see. These two games tell very little. But they did what they had to do.

I really have come to view Goff as an elite “game manager” style QB. He will never be Rodgers or Brady, IMO. But he can be the best Joe Flacco we’ve ever seen. He isn’t great at so-called off schedule plays, when he gets pressured and has to improvise. Watch the crazy things Rothlesberger did yesterday. I couldn’t see Goff ever doing something like a backward flip of the ball behind a defenders back. That isn’t him. He needs good players and a great scheme. He is getting better all the time at reading things, going through progressions and making good decisions. He can make an elite level pass but can also miss the easy ones. His next step is to get consistency in that area and work a little more on his pressure response because he WILL be pressured this year.

Gurley is just amazing. Period. Even his not so great days look great. He’s a threat that defenses HAVE to account for. Even when he isn’t in the play he makes an impact.

I LOVE the Rams receivers. Cooks, Woods and Kupp are just fantastic. They are the best trio in football in my mind.

I’d love for the tight ends to step up more because that’s just another weapon. I’m not sure either Everett or Higbee or impact types but they can be functional.

I’m sick about GZ but how about Johhny Hekker, eh? Wow!

And if you don’t love Natsun you are a sick individual.

Look–this is one of the top teams, for sure. But are they at THE top? We will soon find out.

This is a little deceptive because ARZ had a subpar offense even before they started losing offensive linemen to injuries.

But right now after 2 games the Rams D is ranked 1st in points, 3rd in yards, 5th in yards per play, 6th in passing yards, 4th in INTs, 13th in 3rd down conversions, and 5th in yards rushing.

    BonifayRam...

Our 4th Corner veteran Sam Shields is lightning qucik & fast on top of that…nice INT & return!

Our hybrid Safety/LB’er Marqui Christain is getting better with each snap. As our opponets increase thier attempts @ quick passes over the middle Christian might end up a the starter sooner than most think. Barron better get his talented self healthy soon.

ILB Bryce Hager sighting in the 4th quarter whne Littleton was relieved at the end of the 3rd quarter & took off where he left off in pre season making quick solid tackles for little gains. Have to say I am highly impressed with Hager this early season where he has adnusted quickly to this Wade D. I might want to explore signing him back up before he hits UFA’cy in March.

OG Austin Blythe made the best block of the game on down near the goal line for a Gurley TD. Blythe demolished & planted Cards DT into the coliseum dirt. Jamon Brown is going to have to up his game if he wants his old starting post back this week.

ER’s Samson Ebukam / Matt Longacre & Dom Easley are getting better & better as they settle down to this new D lineup. IMO they are an upgrade to Quinn/Barwin against the run. Ebukam is just getting off the starting line as a pass rusher in the NFL.

CB Troy Hill’s name was not called as often on Sunday like in the first game ….maybe its necause he lost his spot :notsure: on the Special Teams.

Safety John Johnson III is making twice as many plays as our highest paid DB Joyner is. JJ III has 14 combo’s & 1 INT, Reserve Safety Marqui Christian has 8 combo’s & Joyner only has 6. JJ III has some serious range & his tacking has improved from last season.

DE Micheal Brockers thus far is outplaying Donald & Suh.MB has more assist’s, more tackles, more combo’s & more sacks. Can’t wait till AD lerns of this…..:fuelfire:

I never thought that the Rams could ever have another WR like Issac Bruce again but if WR Robert Woods keeps :shooting:like he has in the first 2 gms I might have toR think that. I can not say enough about how I feel about the play of Robert Woods….:wow:

I think the Bruce/Woods comparison works at the level of consistency. Neither one was a big flashy highlight reel kind of receiver, though they are both capable of making those plays occasionally. But what they do is catch the ball. They get open, especially when they are most needed, and they catch the damn ball. I might have already said this – I remember thinking it, but don’t remember if I actually posted it – but I think Woods is my favorite player on the Rams right now.

On Brown/Blythe…all I can say is I’m glad I’m not the guy who has to make that decision. I guess they go back to Brown. They treated him as the starter all preseason, and gave him extra work, so he would be able to slide back in as the starter…that’s the plan.

So far, looks to me like teams are trying to stop Gurley, and take their chances with Goff. And offensively, trying to run and throw short on quick drops. So far, that obviously hasn’t worked. But neither the Raiders nor AZ are quality teams, so I’m not sure we learn anything there. San Diego is better, and I would expect good teams to feel confident in attacking the Rams strength on strength, and not shying away from anything, or “picking a poison.” I’d be surprised, for example, if we don’t see more deep drops from Rivers than we saw from Bradford and Carr. In any event, I am going to guess that the Chargers are going to give the Rams an actual game of it.

to be honest cooks has both. he’s a supreme athlete. and he’s got huge hands. 9 5/8″. huge for a guy his size.

bruce is more like a woods in terms of athleticism.

but to me at least they both pale in comparison to bruce.

bruce to me is an all timer. both those guys have a long way to go before they can hold bruce’s jock.

Man, it’s nice to be so good that you don’t need a kicker.

    The Great

    1) Brandin Cooks … that’s what McVay wanted.

    2) Holding Sam Bradford to under 100 yards.

    3) Shutout.

    The Good

    4) Our entire offense is a “hands” team.

    5) They may not get the praise until later this year … but our top 3 WRs have the best feet, and the best hands of any team’s top 3 in the NFL.

    6) Ebukam getting around the corner. If he can play at that speed double digit sacks could be a thing.

    7) I don’t know that I’ve seen a set of outside CBs that are not even challenged by WRs. It’s like they’re playing at different speeds .. or like they’re told the routes beforehand.

    8) JJ3 is who I wanted him to be. He may never be flashy … but he’s the most solid type of solid there is.

    9) Blyyyyythe. I, being a college focused dude, love Iowa linemen. I didn’t get too much of a look at him because I was watching other guys … but he has the center of gravity thing and the technique thing … this year he seems to have much more power.

    10) JOJO!!!!!!! Guess we’ll just keep having pro bowl return men.

    11) Hekker field goal.

    12) Marqui Christian.

    The Bad

    13) Need to get into better rhythm with the TEs

    14) C’mon, take Goff out. He was on my fantasy team and I was hoping they’d take him out.

    Seriously that’s all I got.

Yeah, I woulda taken Goff out.

Alyo mentions best feet and hands for the WRs. I agree with that. They seem to be getting where they are supposed to be very crisply. This is a good trio.

I agree with Invader, too. Woods and Cooks are not yet Bruce. But this is the best set of WRs the Rams have had since the GSOT, and while we’ve got another 17 games still left to play this year, these set of WRs looks like they can be as devastating. I think Kupp may be better than Hakim…though less of a breakaway threat. More of a possession receiver than Hakim, though. Like a faster, crisper Proehl.
