Don’t know about you, but, personally, I didn’t like that one that much.

Next, at ARZ … a team that is showing some life.

I think the Rams might have been outplayed. Will have to watch again to confirm.

Ravens are as of now, are the best team in the NFL, even though their record does not say it.

The last Monday night game in the Colosseum ever is the Rams worse loss in the Colosseum ever. Glad it’s over.

    Very strange.

I wasn’t expecting a victory tonight but there is way too much talent on this team for them to look that bad.

Especially the defense. They are relatively healthy.

Kroenke can’t be too happy. This won’t help ticket sales and he’s already feuding with Spanos over him not meeting season ticket sale projections for the new stadium.

This isn’t the kind of buzz he wanted surrounding his team as it moves into an expensive new stadium. The star appeal of his team is fading fast.

Interesting to see what McVay does and how the team responds over the last 5 games.

That was way worse than expected. That was an embarrassing loss.

In a few hours I am going in for knee surgery.

I expect to enjoy that more than I did that game.

I dont think the Rams look like a Super Bowl team anymore.

I expected the offense to be face-peeled, but the defense too?

So I don’t know how the loss of Micah Kiser fully accounts for the failure of the defense to keep the opponent out of the end zone.

And the offense is looking very Fisherlike. The Ravens had enough points to win this game seven minutes in.

This team has plummeted from “Star-Studded, Genius-led Turbine of Excitement” to “WTF Was That?” very quickly.

Well…here we are at the end of November, doing what Rams fans do: watching games in anticipation of the draft, and next year.

    Happy Thanksgiving, everybody.

I wonder if there is resentment among the players toward Weddle now.

Mangini was asked about the Patriots chances against the Ravens and he suggested that maybe you have to risk hitting them with a ton of pressure and not sitting back in zone like the Rams did.
He also was skeptical about L.Jackson having a long career the way he throws his body around.

So will the Rams just fall apart now? Or will they finish with a winning record?

    Thanks, ZN!

Back home now. Tore my meniscus. My throat is bothering me more than the knee right now, from the tube in there. It burns a little but on pain meds and ice. In an immobilizer until tomorrow. How do athletes do this stuff all the time?

For me, the loss last night makes the SB loss even more painful. Who knows when we’ll be back now…

I’m usually not the kind of fan who goes ballistic after a loss and pounds the table for a complete rebuild.

But that’s how I felt after the first half. I was almost numb by the end of the game, and couldn’t even watch the last minute or so after Kupp drop-tipped the pass for a Ravens’ interception.

After some time to calm down, reflect, burn off some of the alcohol, do some Zazen . . . I can see much more clearly now:

Tear this #$@&%*! down you #$@&%*! I’m NOT PUTTING UP with this #$@&%*! any #$@&%*! MORE this #$@&%*! YEAR or next #$@&%*! YEAR!!! You #$@&%*! #$@&%*!?#$@&%*!!!

it sucked. i was anticipating a regression this season. i just knew things couldn’t go like they had been the past 2 years.

they’re still above 0.500, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. it feels like it did the past 15 years.

but i’m also willing to see this until the end of the season. i don’t think they need to tear the whole thing apart. they need to get the oline and the running game situated. maybe most of those parts are already in place and just need some development. i don’t know. this will be a crucial offseason.

the defense. i don’t think it’s as bad as it looked last night. this was an all-time running game they went against. i really believe that. greg roman. that’s what he does. he develops high powered running offenses. and he had ingram and jackson to work with. and they could very well break a 40 year old record for rushing yards in a season by a single team.

still. the defense needs a pass rusher outside of aaron donald. and they’re gonna need to find a way to replace littleton…

    ok… i’m starting to feel sick now…

    Invader,

Hopefully, you know I was joking.

I don’t want them to blow the whole thing up, but I do think they need some major changes. For instance, it’s time for Philips to go, IMO. I’d love to see the Rams go back to a 4/3 and find a young, innovative, smart as a whip coach to implement it. I also want them to find a huge, space-eating DT to pair with AD, and move him back inside. Play tough, close to the line, man to man corners, and get bigger and more athletic at safety.

I’m in favor of being experimental in drafting and finding positions for great athletes. For instance, I would have drafted this guy and tried him at multiple positions, including strong safety:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Scarbrough

He’s a running back now, but his freakish athleticism just sings Box Safety to me. But the point would be to cross-train and find where he fits in best.

I’d also find a new O-line coach, and focus on building a much better line. Trade Havenstein for picks, if doable. Catch up with the rest of the league by starting athletic tackles, left and right. Gone are the days when teams could get away with having a lumbering, bumbling mauler at RT. They’re getting rushed by super-athletic ends and edge guys too.

Offensive play-calling should change as well. Play a sixth lineman and move him around, including into the backfield, as lead blocker or runner.

And they need to find a big, tall receiver who wins 50/50 jump balls consistently. There is no one on the team that does that right now.

    For starters . . .

I think the most interesting game of the year is coming up: 49ers vs Baltimore.

SF has as good a Defense as there is in the NFL now, so if the Ravens destroy the 49ers, maybe it means the Ravens are just one of those generational teams. Like the 85 Bears.

If the 49ers make it a close game, then maybe that means…we can look forward to another Ring for Tom Brady.

Btw, did RG3 throw a long bomb late in the game after the Rams wuz already stomped — did i see that in the hi-lites?

Want to know why we got beat–

    LAMAR is good.
Their near snap motion messed up our run fits
Their oline was winning versus our dline
Their Rbs are good and read the gaps our lbs were hitting prior to going through the line
The ball bounced their way–Lamars snap fumble and long run.

We try to block legit Men at the EDGE position with a young, receiving TE still learning to block.
Higbee getting dominated against physical opponents–same story since Super Bowl. I’m done with this guy.
Higbee running @#$%& ass routes–see the corner route he ran that Booger in his infinite wisdom blames on Goff. How many 100s of times you think Goff has thrown that ball? Higbee cant get to the spot.

Martindale is a hell of good defensive coordinator.
Can we cut Matthews yet? Dude is worthless versus the run. He looked like he had never played versus an option team before. Samson is by far our best run defender at Edge. Ya, Samson isnt the explosive pass rusher everyone wants but he does all the tough stuff and makes plays. He deserves to start.
Weddle guessing. Come on man, we are good enough to play sound and not guess. Did Peters rub off on Weddle. FFS man. Play the coverage scheme.

We got our asses handed to us by a better team. It happens.

We are 6-5 and playing way below our potential. We have a QB who can complete downfield throws. McVay has gotten way predictable and the NFL as a whole has changed how they defend those crossing routes. The NFL has adjusted to McVay’s base offense but he will exploit those adjustments. But the team needs reps–notice all the plays we miss by a step.

In two years the NFL will catch up to the Ravens and Lamar better bring his A game. But Im not sure how you defend that offense. If Lamar plays like he did versus us consistently you cant play the run. Imagine Russ with a good oline and good coaching. Scary.
