Well I’m glad they finally benched Goff, anyway.
November 5, 2017 at 4:11 pm #76931MaddyParticipantI give this game a solid ‘D’ for strength of opponent, and a solid ‘A’ for not playing down to them.
I was also reminded of a 3rd and 38 play the Falcons got against us way back when. I looked it up. It was week 8 of the 1980 season:
The Falcons had a 3rd and 38 from their own 19 before Steve Bartkowski hit Alfred Jackson twice, on a 27-yard pass play to the 46 and, on 4th and 11, the winning 54-yard bomb.
I feel a cathartic purgation of that childhood memory today, even though it was not against the Falcons.
1980 was also the year Jewerl Thomas lit up the Cowboys on MNF. And we swept the Montana Niners. Then got beat by Dallas in the playoffs. That year.
November 5, 2017 at 4:13 pm #76932JackPMillerParticipantNice comple game from all phases, Offence, Defense, and Special Teams. Happy to see that. Hope it continues, and see the progression of this team, as the season goes along.
November 5, 2017 at 4:19 pm #76933joemadParticipantSorry but Giants coach Ben McAdoo cannot pull off the Pat Riley hair do.
All phases look good today!

“Cathartic Purgation” — well sure, if you wanna rely on sports cliches. I have no doubt that will be the headline in the LA Times tomorrow.

November 5, 2017 at 6:37 pm #76946InvaderRamModeratoranother all around performance by the rams. all three phases.
goff’s passer rating sits at 97.8 or around there.
and what’s interesting about this offense, is that for as many big plays as it has produced. and how much attention goff has gotten about his improved play. and the imagination that mcvay is lauded for in the passing game and rightfully so…
this offense might not have a single 1000 yard receiver among them. i find that odd. this team relies a lot on getting getting turnovers. getting good field position. or that’s what it seems to me. stats might prove me wrong. and this team relies a lot on the running game. not just gurley but tavon as well. brown has been getting some touches lately. mcvay and goff have done a good job managing the game.
obviously, you wanna take it one game at a time. but looking a little bit ahead, that philly team looks tough. they shredded the best defense in the league. threw for 4 tds against the sixth best pass defense in the league. ran for 197 yards on the second best run defense in the league.
and speaking of run defense. the only run defense better than the broncos is the eagles. yeah. so that puts more pressure on goff. don’t know if you can get away with the run pass ratios the rams offense has enjoyed.
no matter what. it should be exciting being able to look forward to a game that actually matters that late in the season.
November 5, 2017 at 9:10 pm #76962Eternal RamnationParticipantI expected improvement and that’s what I saw. The D still having issues early. The bomb to Watkins was a thing of beauty. The Rams did what good teams a supposed to do to teams in the situation the Gints are in. Seattle lost at home to a similarly banged up Wash team.

I am not used to writing up games with this whole “winning” thing.
The Great
1) Attitude on offense … score score score score score.
2) Pass blocking. Albeit against a beat up unit …
3) 4 TDs by a QB … when was the last time that happened?
4) Special teams, wow, this is the best I’ve ever seen for us.
5) Donald and Tru counting money in turnovers …
The Good
6) Finally got a connection with Sammy, and in the rain no less.
7) Gurley leading the NFL in TDs? On pace for 2000 yards and 20 TDs?
8) Goff on pace for 4000 yards?
9) Pharoh Cooper on Punt returns … whew.
10) Malcolm Brown’s strength and ability will likely mean we lose him soon, but until then he is going to give Gurley the rest he needs so he can stay fresh.
The Bad
11) Robey Coleman is getting a little grabby. Makes me nervous.
12) Kupp needs to meditate a little and calm himself down. Maybe do some visualization techniques. He needs to catch the ball.
13) Not enough Everett and Reynolds in my opinion.
I have no ugly section … again. Darn.
November 7, 2017 at 2:00 pm #77064PA RamParticipantThe Rams were great in the Giants game. No complaints. They were great.
Just wanted to point out two quick things that jumped out to me.
#1) The offensive line. This unit can not get enough credit for how well it is performing this year.
#2) Goff has a quick release. He may not have Prescott or Wentz’s running ability but I would take his quick release over the other two. I think he edges them there.

I believe – at this point – that we can now safely say…The Rams have a quarterback.
A real one.
And that could mean a pretty good decade.

He can be our Joe Montana.
But he will need Cooper Kupp to step up and become our Dwight Clark–which means holding onto the damn ball in the endzone! Man– I wish we still had Brian Quick(said no one ever).
GO RAMS!!!!!

November 8, 2017 at 9:08 am #77122znModeratorMy own feeling is that the Rams are good, but not as good as you might think if you based it on the Giants game.
In the Giants game, they were coming off a bye and going against a crippled team whose defense was tanking emotionally.
They were not a challenge. Neither was Arizona.
My measure of the team is this–it;s the team that played Seattle. Subtract the turnovers and you do have a good team, one that can compete for the division. But also a young one that has the potential to hit speed bumps (like it did with the turnovers against Seattle).

Why do you hate the Rams?
Besides–it’s my job to be the pessimist around here.

It;s the stupid helmet logo.

Don’t let the gibberish of Seahawks fans bother ya, PA.
REAL Rams fans know that this team is the best in the league.
Probably the best of all time.
