191 yards rushing, Henderson 12 for 81.
Goff 20 of 27, 267 yards, 3 TDs
September 20, 2020 at 4:21 pm #121354ZooeyModeratorGoff 29 points to Wentz’s 11 in fantasy points, if that’s your thing.
I love this. Good start by the Rams. Looking solid everywhere except the kicking game. 2-0 against the NFC which is good for tiebreakers. Kiser was everywhere.
Would have liked to see Wentz take a seat multiple times in the pocket, and I’d prefer a bit stouter opposition to the run, but still an overall good performance. 3 TOs is helpful.
Bosa probably has torn ACL for 9ers, and Garapolo high ankle sprain per Shanahan.
September 20, 2020 at 4:38 pm #121357AgamemnonParticipantSeptember 20, 2020 at 4:40 pm #121358InvaderRamModeratorgoff looked real good today. i hope he takes the next step this season. he’s been good. but i hope he gets better.
running game is going to be good this year.
the offense in general looks strong. i think it could be even better than the 2018 offense if that’s possible. sure gurley is gone. but mcvay should be better. goff should be better. the receiving game should be better. and the 3 running backs look good so far.
the defense needs more reps. but they have stepped it up in the second half when it matters. hopefully, that holds true from the first half of the season to the second half of the season. again. hopefully, lewis comes back healthy and can improve the pass rush.
and lastly. kiser. tackling machine!

The Rams are a very good football team.
McVay is a great coach, this team was ready to play on a 10:00 AM body clock.

just so excited to see what his trajectory is.

vhaha. yeah. and why doesn’t he get sacks? what’s going on?
September 20, 2020 at 6:50 pm #121385JackPMillerParticipantI hope that it is just getting the kinks out, but we had some defensive issues that need to be taken care of. Outside of a couple of INTs, our pass defense struggled. Kupp had a mental lapse, with that fumble near the end of the half. It gave Philly a TD. Miles Sanders was having nice runs on our run D. Hopefully, that will improve.
September 20, 2020 at 7:09 pm #121388wvParticipantSo far, Is Goff rolling out more than last year? Or is he just more successful on roll-outs this year? So far, the roll-outs seem to be very effective. I’m sure teams will adjust but so far they are working.

From what I remember, it’s more.
September 20, 2020 at 8:25 pm #121397joemadParticipantSeptember 20, 2020 at 8:32 pm #121398znModeratorThe Rams has Goff roll out a little more late in the 2019 season
In SF he rolled out like crazy…also vs AZ…
That’s how I remember it. They started to do that late in the season. Now they’re doing it early as what looks like a defining thing they will stick with as a regular part of the offense.
It’s a good combination. The OL IS playing better than it ever did last year. PLUS they are scheming in all sorts of things to control pressures and the pass rush. IMO it really is both. It’s like you found your wallet plus someone put a hundred dollar bill in it.
September 20, 2020 at 8:56 pm #121401znModeratorIt’s only 2 games obviously but fwiw, last year an avg. of 18 points a game allowed on defense would rank 3rd.
September 20, 2020 at 9:57 pm #121404canadaramParticipantIt might be a trite term but that was a total team win in my eyes. Great to get a comfortable road win. The offense seems to have a wide range of options. On defense I would like to see more of the pressures turn into sacks. I hope Sloman can get it together, he looks shaky. The new uniforms and helmets still aren’t to growing on me. Winning in Buffalo will be tough. Consecutive long road trips have to be exhausting.
September 20, 2020 at 10:48 pm #121406HramParticipantI like the sound of 2-0. 🙂
Goff threw a couple of pretty 20+ yard passes. He also had a couple good throwaways.
Wide receiver runs are helping the run blocking, which has been decent all around.
Play calling good.
Defense good. Not overpowering.

the offense. well. these guys have played together for some time now. it was wonderful to see.
the defense needs reps. also i hope lewis comes back in week 4 and can provide a little extra oomph in the pass rush.
September 21, 2020 at 12:59 am #121428AgamemnonParticipantThe offense is all doing good. Goff is more accurate. imo Henderson had a good game. The offensive line is doing well. Receivers Tight Ends all doing good.
.
The kicker scares me.
.
The pass rush worries me.
The DBs are doing well. The MLB are doing fine. Run defense seems OK.

Ogbo Okoronkwo, Jachai Polite, Justin Hollins, Terrell Lewis, and A’Shawn Robinson are players I would like to see play.- This reply was modified 4 years, 3 months ago by Agamemnon.

Maybe the Rams will activate them for a game like they did Patrick and Copeland.

vYeah, they get the big contract and their production blows up.
September 21, 2020 at 11:20 am #121447znModeratorI will say one thing to everyone.
If you’re not reading Jourdan Rodrigue’s takes on games, you’re not getting the full Rams experience.
Every week in the “press on the Rams game” type thread. Just added the latest. It’s here: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/nfl-week-2-pff-refocused-los-angeles-rams-37-philadelphia-eagles-19/#post-121446
September 21, 2020 at 11:44 am #121448wvParticipantIve watched a bit of the replay. I have to say, the Rams second drive — the one that lead to their second td to make the score 14-3–
was as good a drive as you’ll see this year. Granted we dont know how bad the Eagles Defense will be this season, but nevertheless, if you get a chance, rewatch that Drive. The announcer (Chris Speilman?) even commented about McVay being in the ‘zone’ on that drive. RFL used to use the term ‘whipsaw’ to describe a nice playcalling sequence. The playcalling and the execution just whipsawed the Eagle Defense all the way down the field. They matriculated. I’m tellin ya. Thing of beauty.
My biggest concern — as it will be all year — is the OLine. The Rams OLine hasnt been tested. They’ve mostly had the lead, they’ve mostly been able to run (which is great), theyve mostly avoided third-and-longs (which is great), and they’ve had those rollouts working (which is great) — but at some point the OLine is gonna have to show they can hold up on third and long, in the clutch, when playing from behind. I have my doubts. Especially given Whit’s age.

Good post.
On 3rd and long?
Right now it’s not looking that hot. Their 2 sacks and the one no-call hit-to-the-head INT are on 3rd and long plays.
September 21, 2020 at 12:56 pm #121456wvParticipantInteresting that C.Speilman?, the announcer kept pointing out that when the Rams run, the OLine numbers are pointed straight ahead, but when the rams bootleg the Rams’ Olinemen are tilted toward the sideline. He said the Eagles would be wise to pay attention to that ‘tell.’
I dunno if that is somethin every team does or just the Rams. I dunno if thats a big deal or if its somethin every team knows and does, etc.
w
vSeptember 21, 2020 at 1:02 pm #121457wvParticipantThe eagles certainly missed their fans. I assume road teams will win more often than usual because of the absence of home-fans. Will be an interesting stat this year.
Though, one imagines the Vikings or Patriots piping in Jet-Engine noise on third and long, late in games.

vbasturd giving away our secrets!
September 21, 2020 at 4:01 pm #121474wvParticipantOn the huge-Wentz-INT, it was a great play by Darius Willams,
but it looked to me like the Ref could have easily called Jalen Ramsey for hitting a helpless WR on the play. It was close. Ramsey didnt totally unload but he didnt really try to pull up, either. Could have gone either way.w
