Injury depleted Rams win a good game.
Donald starts and ends the game with a sack.

Dline played well.
I like our RB.

December 14, 2021 at 12:01 am #134562canadaramParticipantI would like to request that one of the moderators edit my post in the “Setting up the AZ Game” thread so that it says something about how I see the Rams stepping up in a big way on Monday night. That was my intended message, it’s just that sometimes translating Canadian English to American English gets messy.
Anyway, when I saw that the Rams would be playing with a high school secondary tonight I thought that Aaron Donald will need multiple sacks to even keep this game interesting. I love Ernest Jones. If I were a jersey wearing kind of guy, I think I’d buy his jersey. Kupp is having a generational season.
Hope that the Covid guys are back for the Seahawks. Seattle has been playing well. Not a game to take for granted.
December 14, 2021 at 12:15 am #134564JackPMillerParticipantWe have played better, but we still have some inconsistency on both sides of the ball. Hopefully, that can be cleaned up.
December 14, 2021 at 1:30 am #134568ZooeyModeratorWellllll… I dunno who that Orr guy is, but I think he showed the world tonight why he is not an NFL starter. I wish the fella well, but he’s never showing film from this game to his kids, even if this is the only game he ever plays.
The Rams DL gets the game ball. That’s what I like. They just effed up Kyler Murray all night long, and that – along with two big TOs – is why they won. That INT by Jones was huge. Red Zone TOs are just killer, and Stafford made the best of it, driving down to score, and the Rams were in control from that point on. Leave it to the Rams to make it interesting by failing to fall on an onside kick, but a helpful penalty and DL pressure made sure the Cards couldn’t steal a game they were outplayed most of the night.
I liked it. I thought it was the Rams’ best performance of the season, in fact. They HAD to win this game, and they did, in spite of wide Covid chaos. I like the way CanadaRam called the secondary “high school,” because…man. That was not the starting lineup you want to see the Rams roll out on the road against the highest seed in the game.
Just… well done.
I thought I was going to scream when McVay started with 7 passes to 2 rushes, but he ended up using Michel effectively. I wanted more rushing, but when Stafford uncorks a throw like that to Jefferson, you can’t really complain that they should have given it to Michel to pick up 5 yards around the end.
And that TD to Kupp over there…what the hell was that? Looked like a bad pass in the dirt to a guy who wasn’t open, and couldn’t possibly catch that for a TD. It was so unlikely, that I wasn’t sure it was going to be good on the third replay. Just WTF was that pass? I don’t know how that ball got in there, and I don’t know how Kupp caught it, but I will take sandlot TDs any time the Rams feel like scoring them.
Best defensive effort of the season. Especially considering the state of the secondary. Wow.
December 14, 2021 at 6:31 am #134570znModeratorWellllll… Wow.
I agree with every word. Especially the ones I ommitted when quoting. Good write-up.

December 14, 2021 at 6:58 am #134573nittany ramModeratorTaking an injury/covid depleted team into Arizona and getting a victory was a masterful coaching performance by McVay. I’m not refering to strategy/play design. I mean coaching.
December 14, 2021 at 9:01 am #134582wvParticipantI dunno what that was.
If they can play like that with people out, why cant they play like that
all the time?I’m inclined to think it was more about the Cards playing bad
than the Rams playing good. But i dunno.w
vDecember 14, 2021 at 10:31 am #134583Billy_TParticipantI think that was one of the best team wins the Rams have had in a decade.
I could claim that I called this before hand, that I predicted the Rams would rally around the Horns and overcome the major losses due to injuries and Covid. I could just say I knew it! But, um, well, that would be false. In reality, when I heard about the last-minute losses, I couldn’t help but think of the likely lineup as something akin to a third exhibition game, with players “on the bubble” vying for a roster spot. It all seemed far too dark for me, but I watched the game anyway.
And, then it happened. The D stepped up big time. Great plays, especially, from the Front Seven. The O played great, including the call-ups at TE. Stafford was on fire, as were Kupp, OBJ, and Michel, and the line was stalwart.
McVay called a really good game.
Echoing WV, what couldn’t they do this when they were at or close to full strength?
December 14, 2021 at 10:32 am #134584znModeratorI dunno what that was.

vThe Cards had bad moments but you could see a team that was good and given one or 2 different breaks, could have won.
The Rams had a few glitches too but they came through and made plays. For example the Jones goal line INT absolutely changed the entire game.
I think the difference between the bad Rams and last night’s good Rams is that before they were more complacent and made mistakes, this time they made the plays instead of mistakes and knew they had their backs to the wall so no complacency.
Now does a great team go through mood changes like that? Well that depends on whether they keep it up. Maybe this was a confidence builder and turning point.
I do wonder sometimes if McV is too much of a player’s coach and doesn’t really know how to lead a team and teach it to be consistent.

December 14, 2021 at 1:14 pm #134588JackPMillerParticipantWe need to start proving that we can beat physical teams. If we get in as a Wild-Card, we will be playing Dallas.A physical team on both sides. If we can get lucky, and get through Dallas, we need to learn how to beat Aaron Rodgers, & January Tom.
December 14, 2021 at 1:54 pm #134589wvParticipantWe need to start proving that we can beat physical teams. If we get in as a Wild-Card…
==========
Yeah thats the thing. Titans, 49ers, Packers just beat them like dogs.
This game did nothing to give me confidence the rams can beat a
pitbull of a team. You know what ‘would’ give me confidence — if the Rams handled
the 49ers in that last game. Then again, what happens if that game means zero to the rams
playoff positioning, and it means everything to the 49ers.I dunno.
Midseason, it looked like five teams were all bunched together.
Now, it looks like Packers and Bucs are a top tier,
and Cards, Cowboys and Rams are a second tier. We’ll see. Lots can happen tween now and the playoffs.

vDecember 14, 2021 at 9:32 pm #134615Eternal RamnationParticipantI’m still mad about the refs not calling two blatant roughing calls facemask should have put us 1st and goal at the 1. The helmet to helmet while another defender torqued Stafford’s knee way late (he completed the pass) at the very least cost us 4 points. On the positive the really played like the well connected team we saw early this season noting the Covid-19 outbreak a little too connected.

vMaybe… Kyler Murray looked a little different, looked timid. Perhaps the injury and the hits are getting to him…
I wonder if he regretted not signing with the Oakland A’s….
December 15, 2021 at 4:41 pm #134652TSRFParticipantI listened to most of the game on the radio (WFAN 660 kHz NYC) while driving home from Long Island to CT. The very fist Cards play resulted in an AD sack. Right then and there, I knew we were off to the races. Great listen. I actually drove around the block until we got to the two minute warning. If you have never listened to a football game on the radio, you should. Of course, whoever is doing the game helps, and in my case, Kurt Warner was the color guy.
Where was this energy during the Green Bay game?
OK, I really don’t care, but carry that energy through the rest of the season and win out!
December 15, 2021 at 8:43 pm #134655InvaderRamModeratorif this team can go on a run to end the season who knows? anything can happen.
