Karty and D. Wms redeemed themselves.
Tough win on the road in the rain.
December 12, 2024 at 11:16 pm #153860canadaramParticipantThe Rams haven’t lost to the Niners since September of 2023. This makes me happy. Didn’t expect much from Karty when I saw the conditions, but good for him. Another yeoman’s job by Kyren. Good lord, I love it when the Rams beat the Niners!
December 12, 2024 at 11:20 pm #153863HramParticipantI think we can win reasonably often when we hold the other team to 6 points.
December 13, 2024 at 12:33 am #153869ZooeyModeratorAs a child of the 70s, I will never be anything less than enthusiastic about that kind of game.
Held the 49ers to 6 points.
The weather obviously screwed up everybody’s plans, but towards the end of the 1st half, McVay finally said, “Screw it, we’re running Williams,” and that turned into points.
Once the rain let up, they went back to the pass, and got enough to win the game.
Beautiful. I loved it. (well, once I accepted the fact that it was going to be that kind of game. It was hard in the beginning when I was still hoping for GSOT 24).
Another game with no fumbles or INTs, though Stafford threw two INTs that were inexplicably dropped.
Tough game. The Rams got a couple of breaks. But they played tough, and made fewer errors.
Actually, that’s it, I think. In terrible conditions, the Rams made fewer errors.
December 13, 2024 at 6:54 am #153878nittany ramModeratorFirst time in Stafford’s career he’s gone 5 straight games without an INT.
Best performance by the defense this year. Great against the run and pass.
Greenlaw getting hurt helped the Rams’ running game. KW started rolling when he went out. Apparently Greenlaw’s back-up refused to go into the game, said he quits, and walked into the locker room in the third quarter. I love it when the 9’ers are self -destructing.
Stafford continues to make plays when they need them. He’s as reliable as death and taxes.
December 13, 2024 at 7:53 am #153879wvParticipantOnly saw the highlights. The weather doesnt really show up in the highlights. I guess it played a big part? So, its not really just the ‘defense finally showed up’ – its more like neither teams offense could handle the weather?
Great win. I did not think that would happen.
I will continue to pick against the rams, however, as it does seem to be working.
Go Rams,

The weather was a huge part of it in the first half. You could see the rain pouring down on them the whole first half.
Plus the SF defense, which is a very good one, was just all over the Rams in the first half. No one was open. It’s like they knew the playcalls.
But the rain stopped in the 2nd half. The Rams defensive stats in the 2nd half was really their doing, they came through. Weather was not a factor then. Though admittedly the SF offense was missing key players.
December 13, 2024 at 8:55 am #153882joemadParticipantHow sweet was that??? Awesome…
McVay’s culture can win important games on the road…
When the rain stopped, Stafford and the offense delivered with 3 or 4 50 yard drives in the 2nd half …. while the Rams D forced Purdy to throw a lot of incompletions… and when the 49er offense finally got close.. they picked him off… they forced Deebo to play like shit….
A lot of punts and FGs.. Special teams didn’t break, With the exception of Deebo’s last kick off return that was aided with the horse tackle.
SF top 5 defense…
next week the Jets…# 4 in defense with a lot of sacks… Gastineau’s recent feud with Farve might inspire them.
GO RAMS…
December 13, 2024 at 10:10 am #153886wvParticipantOne of the celebrity pundits noted that for a long time, during the Shanahan dominance of McVay, the 49ers were usually the more physical team. They just beat the rams up. But lately maybe the Rams are, at least, as physical. I dunno.

^^^This^^^
The Rams got absolutely nothing going until about their 4th or 5th possession when they adjusted the plan, and quit trying to go Pass First. As zn said, nobody was open, and the ball was slipping out of Stafford’s hand (I guess), because he had some pretty bad throws. The Rams were lucky that the 9ers whiffed a couple of INTs. They finally just gave the ball to Williams, and he did enough to move the chains. Nothing spectacular, but he was probably the most important player last night. The guy is something. It’s like the first time he gets hit, the tackle is just a suggestion. It takes a couple more people to intervene and get him to go down.
Then it quit raining at the half, and the Rams got a little bit more going. The 9ers were playing tough, but the Rams just gutted it out.
The 9ers have to feel like they blew it, though. Dropped INTs. Deebo’s drop on 3rd down that was going to be a big play, possibly a TD. The Williams interception that Purdy made a terrible throw on – and he had Pearsall WIDE OPEN in the flat. Purdy was just trying to do too much on that one.
I’m getting ahead of myself now, but it looks like the Rams can/will win the division even after that 1-4 start.
BTW. Puka Nacua. Good grief.
December 13, 2024 at 1:04 pm #153898ZooeyModeratorOh, and…uh.
In 9erville, everyone expects Campbell to be cut this morning.
Samuel looks like a problem bc he is due $28 next year, and they have Jennings, Aiyuk, and Pearsall, and Samuel appears to be the expendable at this point, but nobody will want that contract.
Purdy is due a payday now, and they expect the debate about his value will be off the charts.
Samuel and McCaffrey are diminishing returns. McCaffrey basically missed the whole year. What does he have left? What can they expect from Bosa and Kittle in the future? Is the window closed?
December 13, 2024 at 4:14 pm #153913Billy_TParticipantEnjoyable game, but less so than when they score at least a touchdown. Defense was excellent against the run, and there were fewer missed tackles. Nice to see the young D coalesce, etc.
As others have mentioned, rain was an obvious factor — for the offenses of both teams.
It may be one of those years in which the Rams need to win the division to get into the playoffs. With the final two games against the Cards and the Seahawks, they control their own destiny.
I like their chances.
December 13, 2024 at 5:34 pm #153915ZooeyModeratorI should add…though maybe this is somewhere else already on the board…
The 49ers made zero trips into the Red Zone.
Not once.

I put this (below) in the “Rams tweets” thread 3 hours after you wrote that post. This kind of overlap is just never an issue.
The tweet here confirms your point and adds some history:
Josh Dubow@JoshDubowAP
#49ers didn’t cross the Rams 25 yard line last night. That’s first time that’s happened for them since a 21-0 loss to the Bucs in Week 11 of 2010 with Troy Smith at QB. They reached the 33 that game (and somehow Singletary punted on 4th and 4 down 7 points in 2nd half.)December 13, 2024 at 9:50 pm #153921InvaderRamModeratori missed the game. gonna try and watch it today.
