KC scored 51 points and lost. LOL
Everett, Reynolds, and Higbee made plays.
Ebukam had a couple of plays.
    Another monster game by Donald.
    Goff came through.
    Peter didn’t get burned. 😉
    Joiner made a play.
Almost every play was a highlight.

Turns out the Rams do have good TEs.

Up to now they were just under-utilized because there aren’t enough footballs to go around.

I expected KC to flirt with the 50 point plateau, but I didn’t expect Ebukam to score two TDs. Great to win and even better to have ten wins before the end of November. Hopefully Talib is back and healthy on December 2 vs Detroit.

Great game!So much to take away from this but the #1 for me is Goff with no timeouts brought this team back with a beautiful clutch throw to Everett for the game winner in the Prime time game of the year. That is what great tier 1 qbs do.

I returned from Hawaii Sunday night more interested in my fantasy teams than Rams-Chiefs. See, in one league I started out 1-6. I’ve won four in a row and am now in the thick of the playoff race. It really sucks being stuck in a steel tube five miles up while the afternoon-Sunday night games are going on.

On Monday afternoon my girlfriend and I prepared an early Thanksgiving dinner, I quaffed a couple of adult beverages and then we sat down to watch Chiefs-Rams.

    Ho-Ly-Shit. What a tilt.

This team is unbelievable. I’ve never seen a squad take body blows week after week against the best offenses the league has to offer. Minnesota, Seattle x2, Green Bay. San Diego. Kansas City. And they almost pulled off the upset in New Orleans. The 2018 Rams have surpassed the GSOT in entertainment value.

10-1. Best record this late since I was 9 years old. Now just get Talib back…

A few impressions. Jist summ thotz.

    * credit where it’s due: Mahomes is a monster. I had seen him before (highlights, snatches of games) making impossible throws, and he lived up to it. It’s like someone put Marino in Favre’s body.

    * Goff was “off” a bit here and there, which I am starting to think will be a regular thing, but not a huge flaw. But last night he had his usual share of the usual “whoa did ya see that” throws that are just freaky for their timing, accuracy, and placement. That will always be the thing with him. He has a long list of traits you want in your qb, but those uncanny throws are the signature thing.

    * On the Donald strip sack Ebukam recovered for a TD, watch Donald. He was in the air when he hit Mahomes’ arm. He hurled himself at the qb and his legs are a couple of feet off the ground when his arm hits the qb’s arm. It’s like he said, Mr. and Mrs. Kent said don’t show my real powers to the humans, but I can fly dammit so I will this one time. He hit the ball out while flying through the air.

    * The Ebukam INT. He is being mauled by a lineman, reaches up and bats the pass to himself, then catches it one handed, all in a split second. I have never seen any play quite like it, not in 4,456 or so years of watching NFL football. KC is a load and a half and you have to make some extraordinary plays to beat them, and that was one.

    * Speaking of making plays. Last year when the Rams lost to Seattle in LA, I posted about how Thomas swatted the ball away when Gurley dove for the TD, and how Seattle always just seemed to make plays. I said the Rams need to be like that. And darned if they didn’t morph into exactly that. From getting 1st downs on 3rd and long that you just don’t expect them to make, to Ebukam batting a pass to himself the way he did, and so on. No matter what else goes on, they make plays throughout a game.

    * One example of just rising to the occasion–Everett maintaining his balanced while avoiding the out of bounds line running at full speed on his TD. Very athletic moment.

    * This is a 4th quarter team. Looking just at 2017/18, Goff has now been in 8 comeback situations and the Rams won 4 of them. It’s hard to find career percentages on qbs in comeback situations, but last year I posted a chart showing that as of 2017. There were only 3 qbs at 50% or better (though better was not higher than 53%). Those qbs were Brady, Luck, and Wilson. So far, in just 8 opportunities, with 50% wins in that situation, Goff has joined that company. That’s quite something. And the defense? Look at the last 4 games. Rodgers had a chance to put that game away with 6:49 left and that series ended with a sack and punt. Wilson had the ball at the end of that game with a chance to come from behind and was pressured into some incompletions. Mahomes had the ball twice at the end of that game with a chance to come back and was intercepted. Brees came though in that game, but that is still 3 out of 4 against top qbs.

There’s more, as you might imagine, but, enough for now.

I keep hearing about how bad our defense is. Stephen A. Smith went on and said the Chiefs still put 50 on us. I was like, we forced 5 turnovers from the Chiefs, and two of them were defensive TDs. I’m like no matter what, the Chiefs were going to put 50+ on anyone last night. Patrick “Motor” Mahomes was that good last night.

After reading and hearing a barrage of commentaries about what a great game that was, I am actually tired of hearing it’s the future of the NFL when all some people mean by that is, there was lots of scoring.

To me in terms of what a great game is, it’s plays not points. For example the classic Miami/Chargers playoff game of 1981 wasn’t great because it was double overtime (to name another merely corrolary thing like massive points). It was great because both teams just kept making spectacularly memorable plays.

That ain’t gonna start happening regularly.

There were 4 legit league MVP candidates in that game.

But even the MVPCs aside, plays were made right and left, by practically everybody. Offense and defense plus Hekker. It’s the game that forced the USA to learn how to pronounce “EH-boo-kahm.” Among many other things.

That’s not going to become a routine kind of commodity.

They talk about Mahomes 5 turn overs, but that was a result of the Rams making plays. The interception was a desperation throw and the pick by Ebukam that might have been a bad throw, but the rest were just plain take aways, credit to the Rams defense. imo

True, I’ve heard a lot of criticism of Mahomes turning it over, but
most of those were seriously-forced. And theres no reason to think AD wouldnt force more in a rematch.

Game 11 … Best Monday night game ever …

    Wow. Signature win …

We’ve had two prime time games this year that I got as lost in as I would a playoff game (Vikings). It’s an awesome extra. It’s also great to see the future of the NFL in a single game with young QBs.

I literally said I had no idea how to write this game up, and I know Im going to miss a ton.

    The Great

    1) Donald. The difference in the game was the two forced fumbles.

    2) Ebukam. Seriously … 2 TDs.

    3) Goff. Mainly … his mindset in the 4th quarter. He was showing signs of tiring, losing focus, and he pulled himself back together and made a couple perfect passes.

    4) Everett’s 2 TDs.

    The Good

    5) Going for the win by passing. I did the math. We run 3 times, gives them 65 second and no timeouts. They only need a FG to tie. 40-50 yards in 65 seconds is not difficult. They had scored TDs in 4 plays or less what … 4 times? Also factoring in? We can complete easy passes. I trust us completing easy passes because we have a great hands group. First down wins the game.

    6) Managing in game injuries.

    7) Higbee making his presence felt a little.

    8) Josh Reynolds alllllmost with two TDs … man that was close.

    9) JJ3 and Littleton on the TD stop … really.

    10) Troy HIll tackling.

    11) Punting and Punt coverage on Tyreek …

    The Bad

    12) Suh and Barron not really showing up anywhere.

    13) 51 points.

    14) 6 passing TDs?

    15) Giving up the 4th and 5.

    The Ugly

    16) Not being able to successfully cover Tyreek Hill.

    17) Needing 5 Turnovers to win. Kinda scary.

Just some extra stuff that doesn’t factor into this situation. If you use a time out when the opponent has the ball, you save ~45 seconds. If you have the ball, you only save ~15 seconds or the time it takes to line up and get a play off. In some situations, you want a time for insurance to get you FG kicked, if you need a FG.
