St. Louis Rams: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
The Rams have devoted a lot of picks to their defensive line and now can do it on the other side of the ball. Since there isn’t a quarterback worth taking, it makes sense for St. Louis to improve its blocking. Scherff could at least replace Davin Joseph and maybe push Joe Barksdale at right tackle.
Scherff was one of the top tackles in the Big Ten in 2013 and is a road-grading run-blocker. Iowa has produced a lot of good NFL prospects on the offensive line, and Scherff is the latest Hawkeye to be an early-round prospect.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pounder could fit as a power-man or zone blocker. Scherff has been a reliable pass-protector for Iowa, but handling speed rushers could be an issue as evidenced by the Maryland game. He has to get better at preventing speed rushers coming around the corner. His biggest asset comes in the ground game. Scherff has tremendous power with the ability to drive block defenders off the ball and open up big running lanes.
St. Louis Rams: Brett Hundley, QB, UCLA
The Rams have to target a quarterback on Day 2 after missing out in Round 1.
Early in the year, league sources from a few teams told WalterFootball.com that Hundley was overrated. Hundley fits in the mold of athletic quarterbacks with good arms, but really struggles with pocket passing. His lack of field vision and hanging tough against a rush to deliver a pass are real weaknesses. However, the 6-foot-3, 227-pounder has a nice skill set. Hundley flashes potential at times, but he just isn’t consistent.
In 2014, Hundley has completed 70 percent of his passes for 3,019 yards with 21 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has seven rushing touchdowns as well. Taking sacks is an issue for Hundley as he’s taken more than 100 across the past three years.
Hundley completed 67 percent of his passes in 2013 for 3,071 yards with 24 touchdowns and nine interceptions. On the ground, he ran for 970 yards (748 net) and 11 scores. Hundley led UCLA’s 2012 revival and helped get his team to the Pac-12 Championship Game. He completed 66 percent of his passes in 2012 for 3,740 yards with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, plus ran for 702 yards (355 net) with nine touchdowns.

Boy people are all over the map on
Mr Hundley. Seems like a boom or bust type.
So, who wants to trade down
from the ten spot?
If they want OLinemen, seems
like they could trade down
and still get a couple of solid ones.
Or is there a Zack Thomas type guy
available at the ten spot?

Scherff would be fantastic at #10. imo
I’d love to draft OT Scherff & Center CamIrving…in rounds 1 and 2….
and resign Barksdale if possible. I’d take a QB early in the 3rd.

Maybe even pay Long an incentive based contract after we cut him.
Well is Scherff really that much better than
the next tier of OLinemen?
What about trading out of 10 and into the late
first round, and picking
up another 2nd or 3rd and then taking the best
two OLinemen and QB, and then you have
an extra premium pick for a LB or CB.
