    camp report 8/4

humid 91 degrees…players missing Brockers, langford, Laurenaitis, Jenkins, Quick, Joseph, Saffold, McGee?, Pead. looked like Gaines had limited snaps…when this many miss the depth chart and practice can look ugly

Quick out and Britt with limited snaps so Austin and Bailey started with the 1’s…just ain’t the same…O’s look stuck in neutral without Quick/Britt…so far very few 3 wr packages so Austin plays mainly outside manning Givens old spot…not sure if Britt is slightly dinged or in the doghouse but snaps have really gone down since Friday

lot of running plays today with lots of players running in and out on both sides of the ball…I’d be bs you if I tried to confidently say who played well vs who didn’t in those interior battles…do notice big holes when Robinson and Bond are on the field…

Reid had his best practice(didn’t take much) and even had a td when he jumped a Austin Franklin route…really looks like he needs a year in triple A to knock the rust off…still does show occcasional speed/athleticism

Cody Davis had his obligitory interception…for 2 years I’ve seen him cause a turnover at almost every practice…

    random thoughts
Cook had become the forgotten man at practice while Harkey keeps flashing…no hidden message BUT Harkey sure looks like a #1 te in the league and is the most improved offensive player so far ..his blocking vs de’s even brought a WOW! out of me.. Bayer has made at least one great catch at every practice..Kendricks looks faster and Cook is blocking better…that te group is special

think Sam’s play has leveled off a bit..really like Westbrooks potential..Sam is locked into lde while Westbrook is looks bigger/faster and plays both lde and rde

so Waggoner posted his 53..thought I’d go over the offense
in a perfect world our top 5 are Long-Robinson-Wells-Saffold-Barksdale with Joseph and Barnes the top 2 reserves..problem is Joseph has barely played..maybe the nfl execs knew something when no team offered him a contract..Good news Barnes physcially really looks bigger/stronger and looks the part of a starting nfl center

reall missmash of reserves..Hooey is a rt only backup(has yet shown he can handle lt), Bond is lg/rg only backup(same problem as Hooey but at OT), Person is very small BUT is a 5 position backup while Jones has to be considered a total bust at this point…IF Joseph can’t go not sure who becomes our 3rd guard

will say I loved Gilbert before the draft and love him even more at watching him at camp…looks like a solid late1/2nd rd pick from practice..right now a steal…raw but really flashes..made a great sidearm throw to get around a pass rusher today, moves very well in the pocket and is making better decisions with the ball and making solid throws in tight windows…

Cunningham looks leaner, stronger and quicker ..Stacy is Stacy..Mason shows quick feet but looks to be running a distant 3rd at rb

Pettis threw a temper tantrum when Joyner touched him in drills and threw the ball at Joyner..little guy can out swinging..Britt acted as peacemaker(holding back Pettis who reallly didn’t need to be held)

    had a Christian Bryant sighting today…took a few snaps in wr/db drills…

Gilbert this years Zak Stacy? yes

Moe had 2 great catches today and the softest hands of all the wr’s…ball never makes a sound when he catches it…reminds me a little of Salas….

    till tomorrow…
