So I am basically gone all day, and here’s what you guys do to the board.

    Trade the starting quarterback.

What would you do if I were gone for a week? Move the team to another city?

Wouldn’t it be funny if Philly turned around
and traded Bradford to some hellhole
like Tennessee. And he had to start
over with a lousy team again.

Nick Foles is our starter. Man O Man.
I dont even know what the Foles-Haters
hate about him yet. I dont even
know what the QB-Board-War will be ABOUT
    with this guy.

Maybe he’s too tall. I bet he’s too tall.

We now have more money and more draft choices. We aren’t making an all or nothing gamble on the QB. So, are we going to spend the money wisely and draft wisely? But, all in all, I consider today a plus for the Rams.

I don’t like this. We’re still carrying the risk of Sam’s knees. That’s bad.

Ugh. Yeah. Just saw this. I was hoping we had cut all ties to Bradford. Well, at least he’s not getting $13 Million from the Rams, whether he’s hurt or not.

Well, what if they can sign TWO solid
Oline free agents. Wiznewskovitz or whoever at Center,
    and then a solid Guard.

IF, they can pull ‘that’ off — then they
can take one of the great WRs at the ten spot,
and ‘still’ draft another OLineman in the 2nd round.

Wisniewski is talking to Tampa, now, but it’s for a guard position. The Rams should be able to offer him a little more as a center. But I don’t know how much cap space Tampa has, or how much they’re willing to pay. I’m really hoping we upgrade center with this guy. PFF has him as a top 5 pass blocking center for the last 3 years. He’s gotta be worth some cash.

We still don’t have a QB solution past this year. It all depends on how the draft falls. Snead drafts players not positions, he said. Fisher only drafts veterns. 😉

We have the money to overpay in free agency, whether that is a good thing remains to be seen. Getting a 4th rounder instead of a 5th might be a big deal.

    Jim Thomas @jthom1 ·
Eagles get Bradford, a 5th-round pick from St. L this year, in exchange for Foles, a 4th-rounder this year, & 2nd-ronder in 16.

    Jim Thomas @jthom1 ·
If Bradford plays less than 50 percent, Eagles get a 4th-rounder in ‘6; if Bradford misses entire ’15 season, Eagles get 3rd-rounder in ’16.

    Jim Thomas @jthom1 ·
Those are the only, repeating the only, conditional picks.

If this is true, maybe it was a three team trade?

If true, What the hell happens with the conditions? Do they just roll over to New York, or because Bradford doesn’t start a game for the Eagles, the conditional 3rd rounder goes to Philadelphia?

I did read that the NFL might have some issues with the language of the deal. But that is usually no problem, more of technical thing, I think. It seems clear, I think, that the Rams and the Eagles deal is just between them. The deal with the Jets is probably that Kelly doesn’t make the deal unless he can do something with the Jets. Evidently a lot of teams were interested in Bradford. I only mentioned the Jets cause I imagine that at some time they did talk to the Rams. Maybe the Rams did best by going through Philly? I also read that this deal started a couple weeks ago. Maybe JT will eventually shed some light on it?

If you believe Bradford can’t stay healthy, then this is an excellent trade. Between college and the pros he has lost three seasons already.

I think he is a risk with a giant hit to the salary cap this year. So, while I believe it was best to roll the dice with him last year, I think it more prudent at his salary cap hit to make this trade this year. You can buy a lot of solid interior lineman with the money they just saved.

Foles is probably an average starting QB. Somewhere around 15 to 20. If they fix the Oline, resign Brit and get an average starter at CB (things they should be able to afford now in FA, they can complete this year. They still have a lot of young and improving players.

I dunno, straight up it makes enough sense. With the extra 2nd rounder next year, it is even better.

Assuming Foles passes his physical, why not resign him for the next 4-5 years at around his current salary. High priced for a backup, but no crazy and extremely low if he starts. Then draft a rookie every year and see what you can develop. Spend the extra salary cap on resigning those you want to keep from the current roster into a second contract. Seems like a decent plan and if Foles does develop into a top 10-15 QB the team is pretty set into the future.

Wonder why Kelly loathed Foles so much.

I think old Chip Kelly get run out of town on a rail after the first hint of suckiness.

What a surprise move and it’s sad to see Sam leave but what don’t I know about this. I liked him and wish him the best except agin the Rams. I’d guess his agent said something like pay up or move him to the Rams. Snisher might have been backed into a corner – probably was.

Rams have more flexibility now regarding all kinds of stuff.

    You know another thing?

There are three major offensive systems in the NFL, and Bradford had been in all 3.

They just found about the only possible way there was to put him in a 4th system. ws

Meanwhile this is Foles’s 3rd system in 4 years.

Foles is probably happy to be on his way out of Philly and away from Chip Kelly. Wonder how Sam B feels about the whole thing. Seems like the only emotions allowed are from us ranting fans. I like the cap savings. We’ll see on Foles – he had some huge games. Now, maybe Cignetti and Wenke are just what he needs.

So I’m at work tonight when all hell breaks loose.

A guy comes up and says he got an alert on his phone: the Rams traded Bradford for Foles.

    WTF!

    Didn’t see that coming.

So anyway, the Eagles fans hate the deal, hate Bradford, and are hoping that the deal isn’t finished–that it’s all part of some scheme to get Mariota. I saw some depression tonight–and they all believe they got the worst of the deal.

I see that some Rams fans also seem ready to jump off bridges.

As I said before when asked about Foles, I don’t watch the Eagles so I really don’t know any more than anyone else. I know that the Eagles fans don’t hate him. He does have a winning record. While they may not view him as Andrew Luck, they are comfortable with him.

    I like this deal.

I like it and I don’t think that Bradford gave the Rams much choice. If he was willing to take a pay cut(not that he HAD to)the Rams probably would have brought him back. But there was no way they were giving him 12 million and I’m glad. While Bradford may never get injured again, while he may thrive for Kelly and go on to win playoff games or Superbowls, I will not criticize Snead and Fisher for the move. Because it’s also just as likely he gets injured again, never plays another down or just plays at a mediocre level. He was never Rodgers or Brees and no one claimed he was. Most people viewed him as a game manage type of QB who could win games.

I don’t know why Nick Foles can’t be that as well. But he doesn’t have the bad knee.

The Rams got the better of this deal and huge cap relief.

Now we have to see what they do in free agency and the draft.

But I’m feeling pretty good about this deal tonight.
