Can anybody explain to me why the Democrats – who won in court to get banking documents from Deutsche Bank and Capital One – made a compromise with Trump to NOT demand them in a week’s time like they were legally entitled to do? I don’t understand this. And I’ve searched the ‘net, and I sat miserably through more than a couple of hours of Sun AM political yak shows (OMG) to hear an explanation, and nobody is talking about it.

Closest I could come on that. They are apparently letting the appeals process work its way out.

A federal judge in Manhattan ruled against a request from President Trump to block his longtime lender, Deutsche Bank, from complying with congressional subpoenas seeking his detailed financial records.

Mr. Trump has already appealed the ruling over the subpoena to his accounting firm, Mazars USA, and will almost certainly appeal the ruling handed down on Wednesday. The committees have already agreed to give any appeals a chance to play out before enforcing the subpoenas, but House Democrats are now closer than ever to securing a vast cache of long-sought documents.

They better KNOW that Trump’s appeal is certain to be denied. I can see some sense in letting it go all the way legally if 1) they know they will win, and B) that they are going to get that decision sooner than later.

Then the strategy would make sense.

I will say that there is no way the Republicans would have let a Democrat off the hook like this if they had the opportunity to close the deal right now.

I doubt you can enforce a court decision that’s on appeal Zooey. Otherwise, what would be the sense of the appeal. Normally attorneys can get a stay order pending appeal.

OMG. My head would explode. And THEN, I’d kill myself. And then I’d melt the iron throne.
There are simply no emojis in existence that are apoacolyptic enough to depict my brain after one hour of mainstream news-talk.

    OMG.

Did you wear some sort of special suit or brain-armor?

That’s the way I’ve always understood it, but if that is the case, why was the story framed to say the Democrats and Trump came to a compromise? It’s not a compromise if the Democrats have no leverage in the matter.
