ArizonaRamFan and my daughter (his wife) and my wife and I all bought tickets to the game in a set of seats together. ARF hadn’t been to a live game since he was little, so a fun experience for him.
We park a ways from the stadium in a small corner shopping area where we can get some food before and after the game. We walk from there.
Had a bit of fun shopping at the Cabela’s near the stadium and just enjoying the festive atmosphere in the sports complex. It was a brilliant, warm November afternoon in Arizona. In the shade, temperatures were perfect.
We went into the stadium early and watched warmups. Our seats were near midfield but up pretty high. You have a great view of plays unfolding, but it’s not conducive to getting good pictures of the players. Sorry.
Altogether, I would say our group had a great time and good outing. A win would have made it better, but we didn’t let a loss spoil the experience. I also want to say that Cardinal fans in general are great people here, and we actually had a lot of fun with them during the game.
Regarding the game, if you just put it this way it doesn’t sound so bad: The Rams hung in there and competed on the road against the league’s best record team until late 4th Q. Not to mention that it’s their 3rd road game in a row.
But sitting in the stands, sweating it out as the Rams went into the 4th Q with a 14-10 lead, I REALLY wanted to come out of there with a win at that point. It was there for the taking! Unfortunately, the Cardinals did all the taking from that point on.
I thought Davis held the ball too long at times, but I need to see the game in replay to decide whether there really weren’t any receivers open. He collapsed under the pressure when he needed to make something happen and not just manage the game. Like many of you, I’m about ready to conclude that his ceiling is backup QB.
The Cardinal fans were just as puzzled as we were about the “blindside block” call. And they knew it was a big break. That crowd was about to give up on the game if the Rams had scored there. They were really respecting what the Rams were doing up to the last meltdown. Great fun for them at the end. Not so much for us.

Cardinals love to blitz up the gut with inside linebackers shootingA lot of locals were really excited at first by Davis. I preached caution on twitter and said wait until film gets out on him before you decide. He can still rally and play better but its so obvious that his eyes are not downfield anymore. I thought yesterday he took a lot of needless sacks and just needed to pull the trigger and get rid of it.

Usually QB’s can deal with the pressure they can see in front of them…its the stuff off the edge that gives them fits…not DavisJim Fadler @ jimiramsboy
123 throw, they have to get Davis to throw on timing or rhythm, when he doesn’t he takes needless sacks.Jim Fadler @ jimiramsboy
Davis has a really hard time standing in and delivering when the rush is in his face….roll him out, move the pocket #GoramsJim Fadler @ jimiramsboy
Back in preseason the first time I really believed in Davis was on deep seam route to the tight end…..he has exceptional touch on itHe can throw those deep seam passes to tight ends very well but out side the hash marks to a wide receiver he really struggles. The first pick to Peterson yesterday could have been a big play if he had thrown in correctly.
Why they don’t turn back to Hill escapes me completely…I don’t think there a conspiracy or a plan to tank the season for any kind of agenda. I think its just a case of Fisher being too extremely stubborn about his decision.

The Rams could have done plenty better. Blocking on the right side of the OL. Decision-making by Davis. The blown coverage (by McLeod?) on the long TD to Brown.
But overall the Rams hung with one of the NFL’s heavyweights for 52 minutes.. They had about a 60% chance of winning with just 10 minutes left. That INT by Peterson he returned for the TD was just an All-Pro play..
They played stellar run defense. And they ran the ball better than I thought they would be able to vs. that Cardinals front seven.
It’s another missed opportunity (like Dallas and SF). But honestly that was a hard fought, close game. I would think Chris Long is back either this week in a limited capacity vs. Denver or the following week. Johnson and Gaines are a nice duo at CB..
Looking ahead. I sort of hate to say it and maybe I’m naive but I can still see them finishing with 7 wins (again..). Home games vs. Arizona on a short week and with Stanton at QB, vs. the Raiders and Giants. And on the road vs. Washington. All quite winnable. Probably 6-10 but 7-9 is possible…

I got caught up in the game and fell into just watching the ball most of the time on offense. My impression, however, is that the Cardinals’ game plan was to cover the short stuff, not allow Davis any quick, easy throws, knowing that when the pressure started to come, he would pull his eyes down, and/or make a wild throw. They weren’t worried about getting burned deep.
Time after time, watching Davis, I was begging him to just throw the ball already! Even if you have to throw it away, just get rid of it, don’t start flailing around in the pocket! One reason that becomes more evident maybe in the stadium than on tv, is that a pass thrown away is a good play for the defense, but ho-hum. A sack gets that whole place just charged up and buzzing, players and fans.
I haven’t looked at the game on rewind yet. I suspect that at times there were receivers open that Davis just didn’t see.
On the other side of the coin, although overall I was happy with the defensive effort, one thing that bugged me was the passing lanes they left open. On Stanton’s one big drive, it just seemed to me that the pass rush sprawled out wide and left him big openings to see downfield. Would rather that they had kept in tighter and had Brockers with that height in his face.
