Javon Hargrave on the difference in practice style between Philly & San Francisco:
“It’s extremely hard at practice here, more demanding… I think it’s more so like the Golden State coaching & Miami Heat (comparison) — over here it’s the Miami Heat, over there it’s Golden State… pic.twitter.com/FrUcTp9PVu

January 8, 2024 at 3:46 pm #148431znModeratorJordan Raanan@JordanRaananWink Martindale is resigning as defensive coordinator of the Giants, per source. His relationship with Brian Daboll a big part of the divorce. Martindale should have options elsewhere. The Giants two most recent opponents, the Rams and Eagles, spoke glowingly of his scheme.January 9, 2024 at 5:39 pm #148467znModeratorNFL Stats@NFL_StatsThe AFC North is the 1st division since 1935 to have all their teams finish with a winning record. 1. Yep. The 9ers are hoping the Lions beat the Rams, and the Eagles beat TB. Getting the Eagles at home would be a feast for the 9ers.

You live in enemy territory. What do you think of the argument that the 9ers are frontrunners in games who are not as good when they are in a 1 score game late? IE. they’re not the same team late in the 4th in a one score game.
The last 2 times the Rams beat the 9ers, they came from behind both times. In 2021 the 9ers led 17-7 at the 2nd of the 3rd quarter and the Rams came back. Sunday the 9ers led 20-7 at the half and the Rams came back. That’s different qbs but still.
January 9, 2024 at 7:25 pm #148479ZooeyModeratorYou know as much about it as I do. I think it was Eisen that alleged that. I have not heard the talkers locally say so, and I didn’t watch much more of the 9ers than year than I did any other team (not named “Rams”), so it was new to me. It seems borne out statistically, but whether that’s a “thing” or not, I couldn’t say. I think it’s fair to say that Purdy has not established himself with the cool kids like Burrow, Stafford, Rodgers, Mahomes, as a guy who can bring the team back.
Since Sunday, the only chatter I have heard has been about basketball and the college thing during my 15-minute commute. The 9ers have not been “above-the-fold” news the past couple of days.
I think, generally speaking, that ALL teams are better out in front. Like…I hope the Rams get out in front of the Lions by double digits early because we know Goff isn’t as good when he is pressed.
January 9, 2024 at 9:33 pm #148495ZooeyModeratorUpdate: On the way home this evening, the SF flagship station agreed that the one thing you don’t want to face in the playoffs is a wizard QB, and the wizard QB in the NFC is Matthew Stafford.
The other thing they talked about was the accusation that Purdy is a “game manager” which is supposed to be a slight, but that’s literally the qb’s job, and all 9er fans have been watching him every week for over a year and a half, and…whatever…he does everything he’s supposed to do {sound familiar?}. They think he gets called that because he was the last guy picked in the draft, and they believe in him. These are sports nuts who have watched every game, and whose job is literally to talk about the 9ers, warriors, and SF giants.

I sometimes think any QB without a Gun of an arm, gets called a ‘game manager’ until, he reaches, something close to the Montana stage.
I dont ever recall a QB with a big-arm being called a game manager.

January 14, 2024 at 8:39 am #148670znModeratorI'm shocked at how often the Browns' defense not only served up C.J. Stroud's preferred single-high coverage on a platter, but gave Stroud no disguise and late movement to work though. Very static with easy reads, and Stroud made some THROWS. pic.twitter.com/8JwNKmkOiD

January 14, 2024 at 11:24 am #148679ZooeyModeratorStroud made some THROWS.
I’ve changed my mind on Stroud after coming across more information about him. He’s the ROY, in spite of Nacua’s epic season. My son told me last night, for instance, that Stroud led the league in TD/INT ratio AND in avg yards/game this season, and that’s only been done twice in NFL history by a QB: Montana in ’89, and Brady in ’07 (the 16-0 season).
That’s ridiculous.

Which suits me just fine.
January 14, 2024 at 7:01 pm #148697InvaderRamModeratormatt lafleur has done an incredible job in green bay. he’s had to oversee a qb change – replacing arguably the greatest qb of his generation. all the wide receivers and tight ends are either rookies or sophomores. wow.

After this horrible collapse was complete with the loss to the Buccaneers, nobody on the Eagles should feel safe this offseason. What a disaster. https://t.co/dJLLEnYDpf

Eagles roster still one of the best overall ones in the league. Secondary was hurt by departures in the off-season and age.
Offense was significantly let down by coaching. https://t.co/5UMg5IBGgV

January 16, 2024 at 11:57 am #148790wvParticipantI remember when the Rams 1999 top-6 defense, disintegrated into the 2000 bottom-6 defense. Seemed like people got old overnight.
Is that what happened to the Eagles?
They were awesome last year. It wasnt a mirage.
Strange. One of the strangest collapses i can remember.
