I agree on SF.
They’re done this year, and probably done for a while.
They are 5-6, and have BUF, CHI, LA, MIA, DET, and AZ left to play. That’s 3-3, probably, maybe even 2-4. They are going to wind up a game or 2 under .500 this year. Kittle, McCaffrey, and Samuel all have their best years behind them. They may not “jenga,” as Colin puts it, but I don’t think they are back in the championship mix next year. If Pearsall comes through, and they rebuild their OL, and Aiyuk returns in top form, they can do better than they did this year, but they are a couple of drafts away from being a threat again.
It’s funny that Colin got the business from 9er fans for making this observation. The principal radio heads have folded on the season, at least, and started doing the math on a rebuild.

December 2, 2024 at 9:58 am #153606znModeratorKirk Cousins threw four interceptions and tossed the Atlanta #Falcons’ playoff plans into disarray. Brock Purdy couldn’t handle the snow or the Buffalo #Bills’ defense on Sunday night. Justin Herbert funneled nearly 80 percent of his passing offense through a single player. Those were all… #NFL

vMe, too, although I would love to hear more crying on the radio during my commute. Unfortunately, the NoCal talkers wrote the season off a week or two ago, so they’ve pretty much already moved into the Acceptance stage.

What’s the holdup with the Jets trading Aaron Rodgers to the Browns for Deshaun Watson?
Let’s go already.December 3, 2024 at 2:49 pm #153645wvParticipantMan, Mcaffrey due 60 million dollars next year from the 49ers?
NFC West is gonna be wild again next year, i would think.

vDecember 5, 2024 at 2:44 pm #153684wvParticipantSaw a vid where Adam Shefter noted that there is not a team in the NFL with more than 7 defensive players on IR — except the Lions, who have 13 on defense alone.

I’ve been hoping to stick a fork in SF for the past several seasons…… but those bastards never seem to go away….John Lynch always finds tough players to field a team and Shanahan’s game plan is always solid…..
But yes, KNBR callers have been sulking… BTW, KNBR canned Tom Tolbert… he was my favorite host on that station and he grew up a Rams fan… and deep down, I think he still is…

Yeah, that was a surprise. KNBR was bought by one of those big corpse…Sinclair, I think. I don’t know why they would can Tolbert, though. He was very popular.

December 14, 2024 at 3:01 pm #153924wvParticipantI keep hearing the same thing about the Seahawks, over and over, from the radio-media folks. They all keep saying Seattle’s season turned around when they put Ernest Jones in the lineup.
They rave about him.Did we ever figure out why the Rams got rid of their best linebacker?
And were they F’ing idiots to do that.

This is just a guess. But Jones wanted an extension. The Rams were not very forthcoming with that. Then sometime over the summer Jones was quoted as saying in public that he had earned and deserved an extension, the gist being that the Rams were not being fair. The way I take it, saying that in public crossed some of McVay’s “we not me” lines and he was abruptly traded. That could be Jones. That could be the Rams. That could be both.
Either way the issues with the Rams D right now are not LB, it’s the secondary, including all the flags against Buffalo. Speights is getting some praise at ILB and ranks pretty well against the run. Jones ranks pretty well against the run too but is no coverage LB.

You sure about that? I dunno, but the linebackers have not flashed to me. They just seem like ‘guys’ to me.
But if thats true that they are at least solid, thats good news. That would mean this D could be menacing next year. Only secondary holes to fill. Thats doable in one year.
w
vDecember 14, 2024 at 6:44 pm #153927znModeratorYou sure about that?
No. Not sure. I think the ILBs as a unit, Speights and Rozeboom, have been playing better than what we saw early in the season. But not to the point of impressive. I said Speights is getting some praise and that’s true. But I don’t know what a cold coaching eye will see in that unit. I expect draft attention to go to both CB and ILB. (Along with OT and WR).

C’mon man. He’s not that washed up. Notice that his interception throws are uncatchable. Well that’s deliberate.
