“….When the Cardinals make the trip to Los Angeles, they’ll be without both starting offensive tackles.
Coach Jonathan Gannon announced on Tuesday that right tackle Jonah Williams, who injured his knee against the Panthers, will be out, as is left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. for the second consecutive game.
Gannon doesn’t usually announce injury designations this early in the week, however, he knew the bookend tackles would not be available for Saturday. With running back James Conner also nursing a knee injury, not having key contributors to the offensive line could make it a challenge to establish a run game against the Rams’ stout defensive front.
With two games left on the schedule, Gannon did not rule out Williams and Johnson for the remainder of the season.
Versatile tackle Kelvin Beachum filled in for Johnson (knee) last weekend and is now slated to make his 11th start of the season. Jackson Barton, an offensive tackle on the practice squad, had started against the Lions and stepped in place of Williams in Carolina. The Cardinals also have rookie offensive tackle Christian Jones on the roster.
If Barton is to play again, he will have to be signed to the 53-man roster, since the Cardinals have used up his three practice squad elevations…”

Now, AZ is gonna feel like what we felt when we were missing our starting OL
The first game, we were missing, Alaric Jackson, Steve Avila, and no Puka Nacua or Higbee.
While Cooper Kupp got injured during the game too.

Cardinals have 4th-worst third-down defense in NFL
There’s a reason the Cardinals allow the most time of possession per drive, most plays per drive and second-most yards per drive. It’s because Arizona can’t get off the field on third down.
The Cardinals rank 29th in third-down defense, allowing a conversion rate of 44.4% this season. The Rams are 23rd in third-down offense, so they haven’t exactly excelled, but they should have success on that critical down Saturday.
…
Both teams have tackling issuesNeither the Rams nor the Cardinals are very good at getting ball-carriers on the ground. The Rams have missed 107 tackles this season, which is the sixth-most of any team. The Cardinals haven’t been much better, recording the ninth-most missed tackles (97).
The Rams have improved in that area recently but it was a struggle early in the season. In Week 2 alone, the Rams missed 21 tackles against the Cardinals.
…
Cardinals have allowed 2nd-lowest pressure rate of any teamMurray hasn’t been under heavy pressure this season so he can’t complain about the protection up front. According to Pro Football Reference, the Cardinals have allowed the second-lowest pressure rate in the league at only 15.6%. The Rams’ pass rush has been outstanding at times but they will really need to focus on getting to Murray and forcing him to make throws before he wants to.

In the last 3 games, Rams are 8th in 3rd down conversions on offense, not 23rd.
Also in the last 3 games, ARZ is 11th in 3rd down defense, not 29th.
Adding to this. In the last 3 games, ARZ is 30th in “NFL Team Opponent Yards per Rush Attempt.”

December 26, 2024 at 4:46 pm #154217wvParticipantSo if the Seahawks were to lose to the Bears (unlikely, i know) would that clinch it for the Rams? Or is it more complicated. Does the Winter Solstice come into play? Penguin migration patterns? Is the last tiebreaker the number of roughing penalties against the long-snapper?
