I was a little bit concerned he’d end up in San Francisco. His defenses are always pretty solid and the personnel SF has on Defense seemed to fit his schemes\style pretty well so I’m happy he’s staying out of the NFC West. I hope SF ends up with somebody like “agree to be agreeable” Linehan.

Rex Ryan is sticking in the AFC East.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapport reported Sunday morning that the Buffalo Bills are expected to make Ryan their new coach, per sources involved in the situation. The Bills have offered, and Ryan is planning to accept.

NFL Media’s Kimberly Jones reports that the offered deal is for five years, per sources close to the situation.

In Buffalo, Ryan will lead an already dominant defense, with pass rushers that will mesh well with his style. However, questions at quarterback persist, which is what sank him in during his tenure with the New York Jets.

Around The NFL will have more on this story shortly.

Yes, he’s got a lot of bravado and just plain bullshit about him. But, the players love him from what I understand. And, he’s a good defensive coach.

So, it appears he’s going to pair with Trestman from the accounts floating around – that might be a really good combination for Buffalo. Their personnel is not that bad – need a QB either from within or without. And, it’s telling for me that he didn’t throw the ex-jet GM under the bus, at least publicly. Anyway, I’m just happy his defensive schemes didn’t follow him to SF.

I was kinda hoping for a
    pairing of Rex and Martz.
    Ya know. Just to see.

It annoys me that Martz is
    still out of the league.
I’d like to see him back in the NFL.

Martz and Rex? That could be entertaining.

I loved Martz with St Louis but it seems that MM had a hard time not being in charge and taking direction from the head coach after he left the Rams. He tried to make Joey Harrington into Warner as I recall – put a lot of effort into it which I respect him for. It would be nice to hear what the current coaches think of him. So many talking heads just plain hated him when he was still working it seemed.

It’s interesting that Ryan and Fisher seem to prefer the same kinds of coordinatators.

What people say is true, though…Rex needs a qb.
