    Official depth chart updated

    http://www.turfshowtimes.com/2015/5/15/8608697/2015-st-louis-rams-roster-depth-chart-updated

C: Barrett Jones – Tim Barnes – Demetrius Rhaney – David Wang
RG: Rodger Saffold – Brandon Washington
LG: Jamon Brown – Cody Wichmann – Travis Bond
RT: Rob Havenstein – Garrett Reynolds – Darrell Williams
LT: Greg Robinson – Andrew Donnal – Steven Baker
TE: Lance Kendricks – Cory Harkey – Brad Smelley – Zach Laskey
TE: Jared Cook – Alex Bayer – Justice Cunningham
WR: Brian Quick – Damian Williams – Devon Wylie – Tyler Slavin – Daniel Rodriguez
WR: Tavon Austin – Chris Givens – Emory Blake – Isiah Ferguson
WR: Kenny Britt – Stedman Bailey – Bud Sasser – Bradley Marquez
RB: Tre Mason – Benny Cunningham – Chase Reynolds – Malcolm Brown
RB: Todd Gurley – Isaiah Pead – Trey Watts – Terrence Franks
QB: Nick Foles – Austin Davis – Case Keenum – Sean Mannion
    PK: Greg Zuerlein
P: John Hekker – Michael Palardy
LS: Jake McQuaide – Tyler Ott
DT: Aaron Donald – Nick Fairley
DT: Michael Brockers – Doug Worthington – Louis Trinca-Pasat
DE: Chris Long – William Hayes – Martin Ifedi – Matt Longacre
DE: Robert Quinn – Eugene Sims – Ethan Westbrooks
MLB: James Laurinaitis – Daren Bates – Bryce Hager
OLB: Alec Ogletree – Marshall McFadden – Korey Toomer – Keshaun Malone
OLB: Jo-Lonn Dunbar – Akeem Ayers – Cameron Lynch
CB: Janoris Jenkins – Marcus Roberson – Brandon McGee – Imoan Claiborne
CB: Trumaine Johnson – E.J. Gaines – Lamarcus Joyner – Montell Garner
SS: T.J. McDonald – Mark Barron – Maurice Alexander – Jacob Hagen
FS: Rodney McLeod – Cody Davis – Christian Bryant – Jay Hughes

(this is from the link:) The team remains one of the youngest in the NFL. With the departures of Scott Wells, Davin Joseph and Shaun Hill, the Rams have only three players remaining on the roster who have reached the age of 30: Chris Long, Jo-Lonn Dunbar and William Hayes (all 3 are 30 years old).

The Rams’ roster includes 11 players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft, and 9 players selected in the second round. Of the 20 players, only 4 (Mark Barron, Akeem Ayers, Nick Fairley, and Kenny Britt) were not originally drafted by the Rams.

Only four players on the roster have received postseason honors to-date: Nick Foles, Aaron Donald, Robert Quinn and John Hekker.

Saffold back at RG. Good. I thought he was better two years ago, when he played, than he was last year. Could have been the shoulder giving him more problems last year, or it could be that he’s just a better RG than LG. It would be a very inexperienced left side in that scenario, but a Havenstein/Brown right side would have even less experience. Come to think of it, inreally hope they sign a veteran olineman of some sort. I’d prefer Barksdale, but will settle for almost any vet other than Davin Joseph.

    Interesting.

Ayers behind Dunbar. Really, he was signed to back up?

Pead ahead of Watts (likely due to special teams).

Mannion 4th on the depth chart behind Keenum … kind of a “prove you’re worthy” slotting, I’m sure. Austin Davis’s No. 2 ahead of Keenum. The competition at backup QB is between Davis and Keenum, unless Mannion is a complete flop.

There’s good depth in the secondary with E.J. Gaines and Mark Barron. Good depth at RB — remember when it was just SJax and nobodies? And, we have some depth at WR for the first time in like forever, going 5 deep with Bailey and Givens.

This is a pretty solid team, but needs some young guys to make big strides this year to be a playoff team. I’m looking at you, Quick, B. Jones, Tavon, Ogletree, Brockers and J.J.

And, of course, they had to hit on these rookie offensive linemen. Two rookies are at the top of your O-line’s depth chart in mid-May. There just isn’t going to be much the Rams can do in free agency to change that right now, so either they sink or swim with these young guys.

My guess is this team will be competitive, win some games they shouldn’t, but still battle inconsistency much of the season. We’ll see if they can all jell and grow up by November and December in order to make a playoff run.

    It claims to be official.

But even if it IS official, it doesn’t mean much. Just a snapshot in time.

I like to spend 5 minutes analyzing things that may or may not be official, and may not mean that much. Cuz I’m mental.

What would your depth chart look like? I keep changing the offensive line on mine.

I just saw that my iPad autocorrected Saffold to Scaffold. That kind of stuff never happened when I was a kid writing letters to the LA Rams asking for free stuff.

I don’t really know. I’m very interested in what Jeff Fisher thinks. It would be something else if this O-line started a 2nd-year (and raw by 2nd-year standards) LT, a rookie LG, a raw oft-injured third-year center starting for the first time, and a rookie RT. Wow. Think about that. Then, add in Saffold, the only veteran, who is always good for losing several games to injury.

Makes me a little queasy, to be honest.

Makes me very queasy. I’m wondering if this is just the Jeff Fisher way.

Yeah. An LT that struggled mightily last season, a rookie LG, an unknown commodity at center, an injury prone RG and a rookie RT.

The potential for disaster with this oline is staggering.

You know, the invitations I sent out to all my friends to come to the Rams Pep Rally BBQ this weekend? I think I got the date wrong on yours, so you should just stay home…until I figure out the right date.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

What – my critique of the o-line frightens you?

Typical. Hiding in your borrow like a terrified meadow vole while men of vision like myself courageously speak up.

I’ll have you know that Jeff Fisher respects my opinion. What’s more he acts on it.

In 2012 when Fisher was hired, I posted that he should try to acquire better players than he currently had on the roster.

Well guess what? That’s exactly what he did.

Unless you think Fisher doing exactly what I suggested at the very time I suggested it is some sort of wild coincidence.

Hell, even you couldn’t say that with a straight face.

In defense of Zooey, I dont see how he could possibly
be a meadow vole, since they live in the East.

Perhaps, Mr Science, you meant to say
Zooey was acting like California Vole:
    Californa Vole
    California vole
California meadow mouse / Microtus californicus

    Meadow Vole and Pine Vole

    Microtus pennsylvanicus (Ord)
    Microtus pinetorum (LeConte)

    Introduction
Meadow voles occur throughout most of the northern and eastern United States and Canada in low wetlands, open grasslands, and orchards. Meadow voles are most active above the ground, as evidenced by surface trails (Fig. 1) often littered with droppings and grass cuttings in the ground vegetation where they live. They sometimes live underground where the soil has been cultivated or where a burrow system is already present.

    Okay. Fair enough.

But it seems kind of rude of you to make a remark like that to me.

Some things I noticed. All of this comes with the ordinary qualifications about it being early, and camp could change things, etc. This is like reading tea leaves in a cup a mile away through a telescope.

But then, it’s fun to read tea leaves in a cup a mile away through a telescope.

    1. They signed Barnes to be a back-up. That explains the contract.
C: Barrett Jones – Tim Barnes – Demetrius Rhaney – David Wang

    2. Bond is 3rd at LG! That means they are likely going with 2 rookies this year on the OL, unless they sign someone. Granted, someone could make a push in camp.
LG: Jamon Brown – Cody Wichmann – Travis Bond

    3. Baker is not only at LOT not ROT, he is 3rd. Apparently the whole plan of this draft was to acquire an OL and start over with it, looks like,
LT: Greg Robinson – Andrew Donnal – Steven Baker

    4. Pead is ahead of Watts.

RB: Todd Gurley – Isaiah Pead – Trey Watts – Terrence Franks

    5. They have the undersized Mr. Trinca-Pasat at nose tackle.
DT: Michael Brockers – Doug Worthington – Louis Trinca-Pasat

    6. Westbrooks is backing up RDE, not LDE. That makes him a potential replacement for Sims next year.

DE: Robert Quinn – Eugene Sims – Ethan Westbrooks

    7. Roberson is ahead of McGee and equal to Gaines. They just might let both Jenkins and Johnson walk after this season.

CB: Janoris Jenkins – Marcus Roberson – Brandon McGee – Imoan Claiborne
CB: Trumaine Johnson – E.J. Gaines – Lamarcus Joyner – Montell Garner
