It was the best of Stafford, it was the worst of Stafford

They had a chance but let em back in, mostly because of the defense

There goes McVay’s 43-0 halftime streak

Defense stunk it up in the 2nd half. I feel, since we gave the Whiners that field goal at the end of the half, it gave confidence to their Offense.

Now we play the Cardinals for the third time

I am going to blame McVay. But he gets credit for them winning 12 games.

The NFC West Champs will host the Cards next week. A very winnable game.

    Whose House????

The Rams acquired Stafford to win games like this. Specifically beat SF, GB and win a Super Bowl.

So far this trade has netted an 0-3 record to reach these milestones.

BTW, did any of you have flashbacks from the MNF SF game in Anaheim from 1989????

    Shanahan > McVay

I’m very upset. I realize what’s bothering me so much. This team has championship talent but not championship coaching.

I am very pessimistic about this team in the playoffs. I don’t think you can overcome bad coaching.

Spoiled rich kid cons billionaire into buying every conceivable toy he’s ever heard of and had a grand time till the batteries ran out then he curls up for nap time. A truly disgusting organization.

Strange reaction to the game for me. They actually won the division tonight, and have a home game next week in the playoffs, but I’m still bummed out.

Didn’t like the way they played — at least from the end of the first half on. Couple of great individual efforts, like Kupp’s, and Ramsey’s, but not much beyond that. The O-line was terrible. Couldn’t open holes or protect Stafford, and he didn’t play well either.

The D let the Niners push them around — again. If they play like this next week, the Cardinals will crush them.

Beating that poor dead horse, but I don’t think Stafford has lived up to expectations, and I’d bet that Goff would have won as many games. I’d rather the Rams had kept him, and their draft picks, and if they just couldn’t live with another year of Goff after this season, use a First Rounder on a QB. That would have been my preference. Oh, well.

Gotta be the weirdest feeling evah after the Rams win a division title.

Well, two good-but-different teams; coulda gone either way. Unlike the first game
    between the Rams and 49ers.

    Very hard-fought. Tough, tough, loss.

49ers are just tougher. I dont know that the Rams can play
    that team any better.

Sure looks like the Chiefs and Packers have complete teams
and every other team has fatal-flaws.

That was fun the first 14 minutes, then less so.

Some play calling issues. Really should have done more jet sweeps. A few play action passes on 1st down would have been okay. If you are going to throw on 3rd down at the end of the half, why the heck wouldn’t you run play action instead of empty set.

Oline was not at its best.

    Darn

I concur with people pointing the finger at coaching. That’s what I’ve been thinking about since the end of the game. I think Shanahan is a better coach than McVay, and that’s that.

McVay is brilliant in his memory, and his play design, and everybody likes him. But he’s lost 6 straight times to Shanahan with better talent.

I think he had a good game plan this time, but the Rams went into halftime feeling good about their play, and their game plan, and they sat around high-fiving each other. Meanwhile, Shanahan probably told his team that they had 30 minutes left, and they could either go on vacation, or get back on the field and fight like hell for a place in the playoffs. And they went out and just threw 100% into every single play, and pushed the Rams around.

McVay eventually circled the wagons, and got the Rams back in the game, but Stafford underthrew a wide open Beckham, and that’s that.

The good news is that the Rams get AZ next week. Meanwhile, the 9ers go to Dallas (I believe), and I expect both teams to win. That would send SF to GB and the Rams to Tampa, so…I dunno…that particular configuration may lead to SF returning to LA in 3 weeks time.

That was a very weird call. I hated it before the snap, and sounds like everyone else did, too.

    yeah. it was stupid.

and then the defensive collapse at the end was disappointing.

    Crap.

    Rams play Monday night.

Then travel on a short week.

I don’t like that at all.

After the 2nd half SF resurgence, the announcers identified that play as the turning point.

I agree with everyone on this one.

The thing about McV I always wonder about is his tactical, in-game, in-the-moment instincts. I wonder if he has a “feel” for “in the moment” game situations.

But then to be fair, the 4th down TD where they faked a run and threw over the defense was brilliant.

The bad playcalls though are just as baffling as the great plays are brilliant.

All I can say is, if the we don’t get to the NFC Championship game, then this season is a failure. Trading for Matt Stafford would be a bust, for this season. At least with Goff, he did get to the Super Bowl.

Saw a stat in a vid. Which nfc team has best record
    since the halfway mark?

    49ers. At 8-3.

    Packers, Bucs, Eagles 7-3
    Cowboys 7-4
    Rams 6-4
