first fourth quarter comeback for goff.

They were down by 3 early in the 4th, the score was at 11:51 remaining in the quarter, and that’s a bit early for me for a real comeback. I think it can count as a game winning drive. What struck me on that play is that Kupp made a clutch TD catch and broke his own jinx.

Fickin had some nerves early, which he missed the extra extra point and field goal, but Fickin settled down and was OK. The Defense had some issues. Not sure who missed his blocking assignment, when Goff got sacked, for the Titans going up 10-6. As a coach, I’d give him a tongue lashing like he never heard before.

Rams Run Defense played great today

Gurley was great, both running a receiving

Kupp made a huge clutch catch, but Goff and Woods made some nice place to move chains, except on their last time possession drive

I was hoping the Rams could put the game away there, but 7:30 is a lot time to kill

Pharaoh Cooper and ST returns put Goff in some bad spots today

Hekker had his man open for 6

And that kicker, My guess is he’s gone and they get Aguayo. Not only for his misses, but he kick offs are not that good

hey. it’s a fourth quarter comeback. maybe not one of the all time greatest comebacks but it fits the criteria.

i actually don’t think he played all that great today, but that was a beautiful pass.

and like you said an even better catch by kupp. especially after dropping that third down catch before.

but man. today was all about gurley. 2093 yards from scrimmage and 19 tds. what a season he’s had.

I remember a time back in the 70’s when ram fans were bored with Coastal/Western Division Titles.
    Not anymore.

    Eleven Wins. Wow.

    E-leven…wins.

    Wow.

Well my criteria, and this is widely accepted too, is that time has to be a factor, so comebacks don’t really happen until halfway through the quarter.Today it was just a standard “taking the lead but with lots of time on the clock” situation. The term “4th quarter comeback” is a name not a description. Taking the lead early in the 4th, I’ve never counted as a comeback. It has to get down where time pressure is a big factor.

    that was a beautiful pass.

and an even better catch by kupp. especially after dropping that third down catch before.

I agree with all that though. And well put.

Read today’s tweets from today’s “the press on the game” thread, there’s all sorts of things being said about Gurley, and people note all the records he broke. It’s a “celebrate the Titans win” must read: http://theramshuddle.com/topic/press-on-the-titans-game-including-tweets-etc/

For me this was the biggest game of the season. The Seahawks were crippled and imploding. THIS is exactly the kind of game I wanted to see out of this team.
On the road, with a lot on the line, against a winning team, and they gutted out a tough meaningful win.

That is what division champs do. Its what Seattle usually does.

To me they broke down a door today. There’s more doors, but this was a big one.

Such a fun team to root for, too. I have simply marveled at the way McV gets players open. It is night and day from the last ten years. Night and Day. And Im not talking about wins and losses — just the beauty of the scheme. Players catch it in stride and they are wide open and have lots of space. Reminds me so much of the old Bill Walsh offense.

    What a great year.

So is there any reason the Rams should play starters against SF?

Does the game mean anything as far as playoff scenarios?

They play at home in the wildcard round either way so imo no.

Also, my oldest daughter was born after the Rams last playoff appearance. I’m glad that I no longer have to consider her as a possible reason for the Rams inability to make the postseason.

    Just watched it.

First of all: NFC WEST CHAMPS BABY!!!!!!!!!

This feels great. I don’t care what happens from here on out. Yes–I WANT them to win the Superbowl but it’s all icing on the cake from here. I guess I’d love to see them win the first playoff game for sure since it’s a home game. But it’s all house money right now. What a great enjoyable season.

Gurley is amazing. What a year he’s having.

The defense played tough today when it mattered most.

    My one complaint: Ficken.

    He will cost them.

Look–maybe it was just a bad first game. Maybe they let him kick against the 9ers and give him lots of chances and see how things look. Maybe they move on to another uncertain kicker. In any case–I miss GZ.

But right now I’m just thrilled.

I would rest the starters next week if possible.

It would only matter down the road for the higher seed if both the Eagles and Vikings were eliminated in the second round. Then they COULD get another home playoff game. But the way they’ve played on the road who cares?

    The rest is more important.

    Rest them.

I watched it on Replay, and the thing that stood out most to me, (besides Gurley)
was just how much Goff struggled with accuracy today. Many of his passes were caught but the WR’s had to really twist and contort themselves to catch the ball. He was not very smooth today — and yet, at the end of the day — 4 TD passes and no INTs. (and the fumble wasnt his fault)

So thats a great sign that he can be off, and the Rams still win on the road.

The second most obvious thing was just how much legatron does to help the special teams. The kick team aint so special without him.

The third obvious thing was how much better McV’s scheme and Offensive personnel were compared to plodding, predictable Tennessee.

The fourth thing i noticed was that the Rams great pass-rushers were just not getting to the QB today.

My impression without checking factz yet is that this was about as fierce a pass rush as he has faced. The timing was a lot of the game I thought.

At one point, missing GZ was compounded by several things at once. First they didn’t dare kick a FG from the 32 though for GZ that was automatic. They then did the failed fake punt. Fortunately they got the ball back and scored, then SF missed the xtra point. He then kicked off short, and, the Titans get the ball at the 31.

SF did improve during the game and this is not on him really, it’s more about missing GZ.

So I agree with all that you say there.

Blinkscout Game 15 Titans … WEST CHAMPS!!! Annnnnd we have lift-off.

It was a gutsy game by everyone on the field in crappy weather, which made the win even more sweet for me given a few of the great plays.

    The Great

    1) The fact that we have possible OPOY and DPOY on the same freaking team.

    2) Putting together a tough win on the road in bad weather against a team fighting for their lives.

    3) The Kupp TD. When I scouted Goff and Kupp in my head I imagined this possibility.

    4) The fact that the reason I lost one of my fantasy leagues was Gurley’s 65 points and Goff’s 45 … Im not sad at all.

    5) Corey Littleton. Way to step in and make the most of an opportunity.

    The Good

    6) Playing stout up front against an O line that is tough (albeit our pass rush will be listed below)

    7) Troy HIll filling in just fine.

    8) Connor Barwin’s patient pursuit at the end of the game.

    9) Higbee’s back shoulder catch.

    10) 3rd down clutch plays.

    The Bad

    11) Yes there was holding, but there really wasn’t much pass rush.

    12) Ficken … pretty scary going forward.

    13) Whitworth worrying me a little.

    14) Jurell Casey had too good of a game against us.

    15) Goff throwing behind guys … yes they caught it … but I don’t like it.

    No ugly …
