McVay says the Rams are “better positioned” in these playoffs because of the bye, which gives them the ability to rest and get to work on a potential opponent. But “on” is a relative term. For it to count as watching a game, I think you have to be in the same room as the tv, and facing it.
Otherwise it’s just a kind of familiar background white noise for cleaning up the kitchen.

i don’t know how they feel about noteboom, but the one pick i would make in this upcoming draft besides defense would be a left tackle in the first round. i don’t know if whit has another season in him.
All indications are they like Noteboom. Whether they see him as a future career LOT is an open question. IMO they need to spend the 1st 3 picks on defense and then take linemen in rounds 4-7. That depends I guess on how they feel about the LOT situation because teams don’t make a living by counting on getting starting LOT types later in the draft.

There;s the rub though. Don’t Rivers and Roethlisberger fit that definition? But I think it’s stretching the meaning of “elite” to call them elite.
In contrast, I think it;s easy to demonstrate, but not easy to quantify (not the same thing) that the Patz and Saints have regularly won games that depended (offensively) entirely on Brady and Brees.

In the first 8 games, he has 15 targets and 10 receptions for 98 yards. Then in the last 7 games, he has 34 targets and 23 receptions for 222 yards. Across an entire 16 game schedule that would be 77 targets, 42 receptions (67.6%), 507 yards.
I have been lukewarm about Everett before this but he’s challenging that perception.

Now that his season is over, Todd Gurley is the 5th player ever with 1,200 yards rushing, 17 rushing TDs and 500 yards receiving.Others are LT (2006), Holmes (2002, 03) and Faulk (2000). So only 3 other RBs have reached those numbers.
Sean McVay “would think” Todd Gurley will be ready for the playoffs, however, there was a “but.” He doesn’t sound 100 percent sure TG will be good to go for the postseason
Did…did someone just say Donald doesn’t make the Rams defense better?
Yep, all of his sacks have come in wins, 10.5 in games decided by 0-7 points and most in the second half.
If you take him off the Rams, they have a bottom-10 defense.

There is a ton that goes into being an NFL RB – including having a command of the playbook and blocking assignments. They were really impressed with [Anderson’s] vision and ability to play off those blocks. Also how he’s continually moving forward. He was quite the get for themKelly will get there but he’s still a rookie. Takes time. Anderson is proven
He will definitely be the primary backup. Depending on how the game goes I can see him getting a few more touches
I asked [TG] yesterday if there was any indication a clean-up surgery might be needed in the offseason but he said he wasn’t focused on that right now. So we’ll have to see. Hard to argue the past injury and the inflammation aren’t connected….there was an MRI. I think ideally it’s just a rest and recuperation situation. But at the end of the year, I’m sure the medical staff will take another look to decide if some clean up is necessary. I think he’ll push through in the playoffs
Critics say it means nothing because the Cardinals are that bad. While true, what do you think are the key takeaways from that game? Goff looked a lot better and Cardinals are okay against the pass.
They had gone three straight games under six yards on first down and throwing more than running it on first down. They got back to what they do on first down and it showed: Run more than pass, dominate the distance by averaging more than 7 yards a pop. That opens everything up for them on second and third down. That and taking care of the ball were my big takeaways….more than anything they’ve been trying to play to win games and get back on track. And as we saw Sunday, get back to what really works: Balance, stick with the run, and then use the run game to help set up play-action pass.
…the sense I get is they would love another shot at the two teams they lost to: Bears and Saints. And the Bears are lining up as a very likely first-round opponent should the Rams hold onto the second seed.

Well okay. I don’t know who “no one” is–the usual not that much in touch with the Rams national talkiing heads?
For argument’s sake here are the top 12 defenses Rams have played, and whether they could compete against them.
Bears. Ranked 3rd. Rams did not look competitive.
Vikings. Ranked 7th. Rams did compete and won.
Chargers. Ranked 8th. Rams did compete and won.
Saints. Ranked 9th. Rams did compete, but lost. Not the same as the Bears game.
Seattle. Ranked 11th. Rams did compete, and won both.
Denver. Ranked 12th. Rams did compete, and won.That’s 5-2 against top 12 defenses.
