    D. Williams last 3 games:

    14 targets
    3 receptions allowed
    25 yards allowed

    The Darious Williams revenge game

After the 2021 season, Darious Williams left the Rams for the Jaguars. Williams got his pay day and then had four interceptions in 2023. The Rams brought him back last season as a familiar face in the cornerback room. He started the season on the bench, but has played well over the last two weeks. Williams arguably had his best game of the season against his former team. While he had a penalty, he also had four pass breakups and was credited with one dropped interception. However, he probably could have had two interceptions. This was the type of performance that the Rams have needed out of their cornerback room.

Thats high praise comparing him to Boldin.

Kurt Warner makes the same comparison. Here, at about 6:54 in. Kurt goes on for a bit but then mentions Boldin at the end of his spiel.

Can you elaborate more on why you think you might struggle in a KC offense?

    Kurt Warner@kurt13warner
From what I see in the outside, it’s not as defined as I would like! The route combinations don’t always line up with my sense of timing, spacing and putting players in conflict… there is a bit more free-lancing within the structure of plays that is not something I liked!

I wanted everything detailed and defined by guys around me, so I could be more definitive with my reads and anticipation… more free flowing movement would have given me more hesitation, even though I think I “FEEL” (seeing spaces & openings not everyone can see) the game in a very similar manner to PM2!

So. You are raising the freelancing debate again. I see.

    w
    v

    Ah but there’s a difference!

When Kurt changed a playcall he expected the receiver to do precisely what the change entailed. Like the TD to Proehl in the Bux championship game. In that play, Proehl runs a different route than the one assigned by the play, except that Kurt chose the new route. Proehl was supposed to be mechanical within that new framework.

When he talks about the Chiefs offense, he means there are more options built in where a receiver alters a route during the play in response to what the defense shows. Kurt is saying he was not built to play that kind of offense.

For example. In being pedantically literal, I am not free-lancing in this post.

Here’s the thing with PFF grades for QBs that it seems like is totally lost on most people who casually see grades:

    1) Their “turnover worthy plays” get graded much more negatively than normal positive plays do, for good reason. Turnover avoidance is hugely important.

    2) If you don’t have any extremely difficult throws then your grade isn’t going to look amazing, especially if you have a TWP or two. A game being “easier” means you don’t have the ability to be positively rewarded for what they call “big time throws,” which skew the grade higher.

    3) Depth of targe matters too. Shorter throws are easier, and if the game develops in a way that the QB is throwing shorter and again, easier, then the grading isn’t going to be as favorable.

    4) You don’t get graded for how difficult your assignment is (at least I don’t think) unless you’re making difficult throws. It’s just grading the read/throw itself on a given play. The fact that KC can run the highest level of offense and put so much on Pat’s plate isn’t factored into the grade. That’s a subjective piece you have to add yourself.

    5) What other easily digestible and quantifiable metric do you like better to evaluate QB play?

Rams knew the Jags defense was starving to rack up more takeaways (they may still be leading the league). They play fast but were undisciplined from the jump. Blitzing a veteran QB who’s gameplan features a ton of TE-heavy personnel groupings and play action boots was a recipe for disaster. Just gave Stafford a better feel/view of the field/control at the LOS + allowed him to execute on explosives (when they presented themselves).

Everything the Rams did in terms of preparation, gameplan, travel was all PERFECTLY executed.

The number of drops #Jaguars players have had today is unreal. It’s crazy… and not the first time it has happened this season.

The #Jaguars started today’s game with three straight punts.

Then they missed a field goal.

Since then, they’ve had three drives reach FG range — went for it on 4th down each time — and failed on all three.

from Broncos stun Giants 33-32 with last-second field goal after getting shut out for three quarters

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/recap/_/gameId/401772757

DENVER — — Wil Lutz kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Denver Broncos to a thrilling 33-32 win Sunday over the stunned New York Giants, who took a shutout into the fourth quarter.

The Broncos’ improbable comeback snapped a streak in which NFL teams had won 1,602 consecutive games when leading by 18 points in the final 6 minutes of a game.

The Broncos (5-2) trailed 26-8 with just over 5 minutes remaining but scored on a 7-yard Bo Nix scamper, R.J. Harvey’s 2-yard catch, an 18-yard keeper by Nix and Lutz’s game-winner after Jaxson Dart seemingly broke the Broncos’ hearts with a 1-yard TD with 37 seconds left that gave New York a 32-30 lead.

Jude McAtamney missed his second extra point of the afternoon, however, and after Tyler Badie returned the kickoff 19 yards to the 23, Nix found Marvin Mims for 29 yards and Courtland Sutton for 22.

With no timeouts remaining, Nix and the offense raced to the line of scrimmage at the Giants 21 and spiked the ball with 2 seconds left.

The snap was high but Lutz nailed the field goal to secure Denver’s fourth consecutive win overall and NFL-best eighth straight at home.

today was only the 5th time in stafford’s 239-game illustrious career that he’s thrown for 5 tds in a game, and the first time as a ram.

he joins goff as the only qbs to have passed for 5 tds in game this season.

    14 TD’s

The LA Rams sweep the AFC South.

After going into their bye week 3 games below .500 the last two seasons, they fly home for a week off at 5-2 here in 2025.

McVay improves to 20-3 against first-year head coaches; 8 consecutive wins vs AFC.

    Stafford9@LAR9MS
Matthew Stafford is now on pace for 41 TD’s.

He did it in 2011, 2021 and possibly this season.

If he hits 41, he would be the 1st QB in NFL history to throw for 41+ TD’s 3 separate seasons.

He’s tied with Brady, Brees, Peyton, Rodgers with 2.
